Lirc problems

I'm about to switch from MythTV to XBMC, but I can't get my remote to work, and that's a certain showstopper.

I changed the first remove device to "myremote" in Lircmap.xml, since that's what my remote is called.
When I run irw and press for instance the up button on the remote, I get the output "00000000800f041e 01 Up myremote". This corresponds to the line "<up>Up</up>" in Lircmap.xml (I assume at least).
However, when I press the same button when I'm running XMBC, nothing happens.

The remote works perfectly fine in MythTV, so I'm not sure what the problem here is. The only thing related to Lirc I can see in the log is when Lircmap.xml is loaded.

I just rebuilt XBMC without disabling debug support to see if I could get some more info, and now my remote just magically works. :)

i had the same problem,

first used Apt-get to install XBMC.. LIRC didnt work... then i Build it my self and it works flawlessly.. same for LCD/VFD..
