IP/DHCP problems

OK, this isnt really a major problem, its more of a minor annoyance.

When I set my xbox to use a static IP, I cannot access my SMB HDD, however the scraper can scan it just fine.
When I set it to use DHCP, the RSS feed on the home page says "Could not connect to network server" 90% of the time.

It was fine before I did a clean XBMC update about a month ago. (newer builds have same problem + multiple library issues)

Oh and if I try to edit IP settings inside the xbmc client, it freezes. I need to do it manualy (not a big problem, however its getting annoying).

Over the last few days, I have tried.

Updating to latest T3CH - Same problem + not scraping TVDB
COMPLETE hdd format & reinstall - Same problem

although I cannot access my smb hdd when I use static IP, I can access my pc smb shares.

Its getting really annoying, I couldn't give a damn about RSS feeds, however I need a static ip & my SMB HDD. I have re-checked all my router / network settings and they all seem fine and all the same as before the upgrade. Nothing has changed other than the upgrade (from a 6 month old build). Have they changed the way SMB is handled?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am getting close to throwing it through the window.
