What's there to learn :confused2: You search for a good quality picture, you resize/crop them so they conform to the guidelines of thetvdb.com (http://thetvdb.com/wiki/index.php/Fan_Art), and you upload it.
All you need is a graphics editor really.

Local fanart doesn't use any sets of colors like the ones on thetvb. You can of course set the colors of the labels yourself, but it will be the same color for all shows.

Is there a way to take high quality screenshots of movies? I've tried taking them via capture feature on VLC but they only come out at around 300x500 pixels.

Most of my library contains either old movies (which don't have official sites that might offer desktops) or independent films (which don't even have websites half the time, let alone large downloadable artwork).

I'd love to be able to have fanart for everything in my library, and I have no problems making them myself if I could just figure out how to get large images.

Google Image Search.
You'll be surprised what you'll find, some old movies will have a massive poster online somewhere.

Also

If your computer's resolution is high enough, play the video in fullscreen mode, then hit PrntScrn. You can then Paste that image into any image editing software and adjust/save it.

(If you use hardware acceleration, turn that off first)
