After having a bit of difficulty getting files to play with Mplayer recently I decided I would take the plunge and attempt an upgrade.

When I bought the box it already had xbmc installed so I havent done this before but have spent most of the afternoon and evening following the rules by reading faqs readme.docs and the wiki. However I am a bit concerned I am about to royally feck this up as I am certainly non techie.

So far I have Dled coreftp and am in the process of shifting across the latest stable t3ch build to e/apps/xbmc as per the instructions.

I realise that as this is such a big jump I need to remove my old install. However this box seems to have the file structure credits, language, media etc. xbmc on both c and q drives already.

Not sure what the terminology is but how do I tell the box to now look at the f drive and ignore the other ones.

I don't want to delete them yet in case I don't this latest build running properly. I understand you can run two installations but how do I tell it to look at the f drive?

My non techie head has taken a battering tonight :o

Correct me if I am wrong but is the terminology I am thinking of toinstall as a dashboard using the option 1 shortcut.

Get the new build running as an application first from the old build. i.e. install to E:\Apps\XBMC and then run this from your current version of XBMC.

By the sounds of things, the old build is running from C: If you have any doubts, please do an FTP listing of C: and post it here.

Thanks for that. Just ran it as suggested and it works great.

Will post up the contents of c when I can scribble them down. I have a felling there is lots of crap on there that is no use to me.
