Look at the svn changelog for changes. System.Exec should work with this build.

Hi...
i am so lost right now... i am newb to this and i am barely scratching the surface...
anyways, i was not able to browse the network with the build i had... i downloaded the one you posted and replaced my XBMC_PC.exe with this one (i renamed it to xbmc_pc.exe). i was able to browse the network and my music plays, but i can only do it in window mode... and since i am doing it on a laptop that is 1024x768, xbmc wont fit.. its too wide. If i run it with "-fs" in the bat file, the screen looks like it opens, but i only get a black screen.
can someone help me on this issue? what do i need to replace or download to have a working xbmc on my laptop?
thanks so much

sorry for yet another newb question again, but it might help others too.. where is the best place to view the changelog, in particular with what you are doing for the windows port?
this version makes a new step forward
i have found a little not realy important bug
the audio visualisation (win_wave) is only visible if the mouse cursor is visible :oo:
storing the configs in the local xbmc folder is realy good solution for me
my xbmx runs with 1600x1200 nearly perfect

You're very close to the solution. You need to go to your AppData folder (in XP, this is \Documents and Settings\User (your name)\Application Data | in Vista, \User (your name)\AppData) and delete the XBMC folder there. Then, run your xbmc.exe file. It should show up again and be too big. Get to the settings and set your resolution to 1024x768 (don't use Desktop 0x0), exit XBMC, and relaunch. It should be fullscreen now.

Yeah, Nuka told me the same. It can create the database but afterwards it can't open it. Weird: on the second call it just appends the content to the old one in the database so there it can opened it.
As Nuka told me reading and writing goes via the same path and I can't explain it.
WiSo
try now - i changed type of pictures.
mmh did you switch the resolution in the config to the desktop size (1400x1050)? I get this behavior if both resolutions differ.
The second one is weird. When calling the file manager it asks the OS for available drives and maybe tries to access it (not sure). Somehow this device is reported by Windows. Do you have a device with this name?
WiSo
1. both screen got on without changing any files except xbmc.exe. I try change exe-files between each othes (start one, after it start enother, after start first again)- result the same.
2. I`ve empty flashcard slot - yes - it is. Empty card slot gives this error. PLS if u can do something with it.
WiSo
and one more thing - i culdn`t start dvd disk from drive - xbmc told me insert disk.

Using latest T3CH (2008-04-06), whith previous exe (rev#12409) my settings are saved as it should in \Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\XBMC, but when switching to this .exe for some reason the setting are saved in \xbmcinstalldir\userdata?!?
Please not that due to the introduction of the platform directories things could mess up if you don't clean the profile. The newer build offers the flag -p to use platform directories which means the behavior of the builds before.
it is better to delete the profile.xml before switching between the modes.
DVD auto detection still doesn't work. Workaround: create a advancedsettings.xml, place it in the profile userdata folder (-p flag) or in the xbmc userdata folder and create the tag usepcdvdrom -> true: http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=Advancedsettings.xml#.3Cusepcdvdrom.3E

I see that I have to update the FAQ :oo:
See previous post. Add the -p flag on the command line and xbcm will use the profile directory again.

Spnx for quick reply :)

using usepcdvdrom didn`t decide triubles in rev409 :( - i`ll be waiting. :)
I tested this build yesterday and I noticed one odd quirk. With the previous builds WiSo posted, all my movies and videos with missing info (no covers) would auto-generate a thumbnail. This build doesn't seem to do that. Any reason why? Is it some option that is not turned on?
this version does not load for me.. do i need to delete the profile.xml if upgrading from a previous ver..

I found trouble - durin first check - it says some about error and after it fouds disk in drive.
And one more
DVD Menu is not works correctly - i see background but colored menu zap is fulle transparent and i can`t see what i choose now.
Next - auto creation thumbnails is good thing, but dvd has same naming resolution and thumbnais for *.vob files is nonsens (imho).
and 2 cents - try to filter file list for dvd-drive to stay *.vob > 10 MB to prevent menu and other troubles (for time to work menu correctly).
Anytime - thanks.

.
Yeah known bug but until now just a workaround.
I didn't test many dvds but the menu were fine on those.
You may want to address the other things in the feature forum since they're platform independent.
WiSo
i use only windows and couldn`t know platform independent it or not :)
i can say that - using <displayremotecodes> in advancedsettings - is the way
to skip all settings after this line.
Question. As it is now, I'm having issues playing back x/h264 material in XBMC for Windows (a lot of lagging, as if it cannot keep up with the decoding).
Now, you're using ffmpeg right? If I use ffdshow, which uses ffmpeg, I have no issues with any files at all. Allt eh movies play smooth in any other player.
Is the Windows build currently in a "state" which you know could contribute to this lagging?
Reason I ask is that I have no problems waiting for future builds, but if you are under the belief that it should work properly as it is now, then there might be a problem.
Cheers and thanks.

thanks, that worked out great...
i tested it and seems to work fine... but when i listen to music and press ESC to exit the folder i browsed while playing an mp3, i get the following error and the program crashes
"this application failed to start because xbox_dx8.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"
the only option i have is to end-task xbmc...
any ideas as to what i should do?
thanks in advanced.

Settings->Audio->Visualisation. Change it to something that actually works on win32.
The problem is that the .vis defaults to something that does not exist (or at least does not work) on win32.
the t3ch vis are compiled for xbox directx. New vis need to be compiled for opengl. Only waveform and opengl_spectrum are currently available for win32 (note the _win32 suffix).
I'll upload both to sourceforge soon but maybe some of the guys in this forum can provide a download link.

The default needs to be changed (GUISettings.cpp) as well if it is not already done.
Must say this is nearly perfect now
One thing. I have a Dreambox, and it is possible to add Tuxbox share in My Videos. This doesnt work ? Any ideas how to get this to work? (Works on my Xbox)
If we get this to work, the port to PC would be perfect in my eyes
I have audio issues with this build, haven't tested a recent build on this computer in months, and it have never worked previously so it's nothing new. I ask this now since I know Wiso has done some audio work in the last releases.
I have a ATI HD2600 PRO and I'm using it's soundcard capabilities with the DVI -> HDMI adapter. If I select analog I get 2.0 sound (only front left- and right channels thou, no downmixing) but if I select digital the movie starts right away, in double speed, and after a second or so the "Opening file..." box pops up and after a couple more seconds the movie stops. You can select "Cancel" but the box never disappers, so XBMC is not freezing totaly, but after that I have to kill the application.
Don't know if the HD2X00 series can handle passthrou, I think it only supports AC3 as output, I have to use ac3filter to get sound in MPC.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, as I don't understand how DLLs work at all, but...
Couldn't we just rename an appropriate Windows DirectX DLL to xbox_dx8.dll and drop it in the correct folder to get the T3ch builds working on the Win32 port using DirectX?
Or is the interface completely different?
-Wes
waldo22
NOT, couse xbox_dx8.dll has different functional than any windows dll files.

winamp visualization is not works if i just rename it to vis :(
wtf gave you the idea that you could just rename winamp vis'es ?
spiff
