720p playback requirements?

Can anyone confirm if a Pentium D 3.0Ghz is enough for smooth playback in XBMC of 720p mkv/h.264 (Even in sightly higher bitrates)? It plays fine in Windows using CoreAVC, but i suspect the linux decoders are not quite as efficient or perhaps i´m wrong?

Edit: The CPU is a 3.0Ghz HT not dualcore.

Yep should be fine. 1080p not so much.

Ok, i just compiled the latest svn on the computer in question and it seems to work really well, cpu usage stays around 40-45%. Nice :-)
