Hey folks,

I am still thinking about which hardware to get for my soon to be build HTPC with XBMC and Linux ;-)
I'd like to hear your thoughts about the new 780g platform from AMD. Boards should be available soon, like a Gigabyte -S2H model e.g.
First reviews look very promising especially regarding the onboard graphics and the integration of UVD hardware acceleration for HD content.
Question of course is when will the ATI linux driver support those features?

You are better of waiting until device drivers have been established, keep an eye on:
http://www.phoronix.com (or try their forums http://www.phoronix.com/forums/)

The recommendation is still to go for NVIDIA hardware, their current drivers are much better.

PS! UVD hardware acceleration is not supported under Linux, nor is it likely to be soon.
