Fragging ... but only sometimes

if this is the incorrect area to pot this question then sorry...
my xbox started fragging a few months ago and i read that this could be due to a loose mod chip but sometimes it will work. I just used xbmc for about 3 hours straight and it was fine. Then sometimes after being on for an hour or so lines will start running across the screen until it gets so bad video is unwatchable. If I reboot it'll frag. Any suggestions?

doubt this is a XBMC issue (verify by testing some other app/game)
more likely hardware issue

Then I guess Xbox-Scene forums might be better suited, but frankly, what do you expect to happen here ? That someone tells you to solder Point A to Point B and everything is fixed again ?
