I was checking out Vortex, its impressive, but a shame not so much activity for new vis. I was thinking some kind of simulator to develop these in windows would be great and might encourage more activity.

Hi

I am glad you like it. If I get time I may convert Vortex to OpenGL to allow it to run on Linux. If I do that it shouldn't be much more work to convert it to work as a simulator in Windows as you suggest.

Don't let the lack of a simulator stop you from trying to create your own presets though. It should be easier with the new version I am working on as any compilation errors will be displayed on screen rather than through the debug output as it currently is.

No, there is no new version yet.

Bringing it to the other platforms via opengl would be most excellent :)

From the posts above am I correct in assuming this is an Xbox only feature?
If so then I second porting it to Open GL. It sounds groovy.

Any cahnce of some screenshots for us non-Xboxers?

:)

after switching from xbox to linux there is only one thing i realy miss:
the vortex vis.
the album-art feature brings so much more to the skin.
the other vis look like "another visulation".
vortex looks like a skin feature.

well, maybe it will be ported in the feature.
i would even pay for it.

DirectX SVN's are getting to be pretty solid, so I imagine Vortex would run fine on those
