Hello,

The other day I plugged in my fat32 formatted usb pendrive (4GB) into the Xbox and was able to watch the film that was in it. But when I restarted my Xbox, I could not read anything anymore. What's more, the usb pendrive can't neither be read anymore by the Xbox nor by the PC (unable to get mounted by GNU/Linux).
I've made some investigation and have found that my partition table is corrupted. It is fatx formatted, though I did nothing but read operations on my usb while it was plugged in.
The thing is, might I be able to recover my personal files that were on my usb? Please, any clue? The data is still there, but my partition table is screwed up.
Testdisk and gpart have not been useful. They simply don't find anything. No entries, all 0x00.
Please, help me recovering my data! and to the xbmc community... do you know what could have xbmc done to erase my usb pendrive partition table?
Thank you very much for your time and attention!

If I recall there are numerous older posts regarding USB drives and support available online (google is good) and they all warn of the possible reformat of the USB device to a fatX format (this is of course if the box even recognises it).

Id suggest repartitioning it and then use a windows based recovery utility to try restoring your data. And, since alot of this is an ongoing project follow the first, best rule before trying anything in the future BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP

its not XBMC that formatted it .. it was the xbox , don't restart the xbox with the usb still plugged in , that was your fatal error ..

Yes, you're definitely true... I won't do that again :(
I remember something about some usb pendrives formatted by Xbox, but as it hadn't happened to me anytime before...
Anyway, HarshReality helped me with "Get Data Back" program and now everything is restored to what it was.
Thank you!! :D
