I've got a softmod with EvoX as the default dash and XBMC installed as an app on my F:\ . Trying to use the shortcut method listed on XBMC Wiki but it's not working for some reason:

http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/index.php?title=As_a_Dashboard#Option_1_-_Using_the_Team_XBMC_Shortcut.xbe_.28Recommended.2 9

1. renamed current dash "c:\evoxdash.xbe" to "c:\original_evoxdash.xbe"

2. downloaded the XBMC shortcut XBE, renamed it to "evoxdash.xbe", and uploaded it to c:\

3. created text file "evoxdash.cfg" with "F:\Apps\XBMC\default.xbe" inside of it, uploaded it to c:\

4. reboot

Still booting into EvoX after this though. Did I miss a step somewhere?

Also, what's the point of the dashboard path setting in the XBMC general settings? Does it still need to be enabled while I'm doing the custom shortcut? Don't see any mention of this setting on the Wiki info.

I just followed these instructions yesterday and they worked for me.

I did renamed the original "evoxdash.xbe" to "avalaunch.xbe"

Also my file "evoxdash.cfg" has "E:\Apps\XBMC\default.xbe" inside of it, instead of F:\Apps\XBMC\default.xbe

Are you using F: or E: for XBMC?

The dashboard setting in XBMC allows you to exit XBMC to you original dashboard. You will need to set this to what ever you renamed your original evoxdash.xbe

C:\evoxdash.xbe is not what is being run on boot in that case.

Also, do not simply rename the current dash to whatever you feel like - rename it to one of the fallback executables.

Ahhh, okay. Where else could my dash be booting from then? In my E drive, got a folder named "dashboard" with 3 files inside of it: default.xbe, evox.ini, and evoxold.ini, as well as skin and trainers folders. Is this where I need to place the shortcut files?

I tried naming the current dash to one of the fallback executables but I don't know what to name it. My EvoX dash says the bios is "original 4034", but that doesn't correspond to any of the names on that table on the Wiki page.

(Coco: XBMC is on my F:\ , so that's why I used that path on the .cfg)

Yes, E:\dashboard\default.xbe is being run.

I suggest renaming that one to E:\dashboard\avalaunch.xbe and putting the shortcut xbe in it's place.

Yes, that did it! Thank you!
