View Full Version : rateing songs/tracks via remote while playing?
Hi there!
How is it possible to use the remote control to rate a song/track (1 to 5 Stars) while playing in XBMC.
I want to do this:
While a song is playing I want to press a buttion on my remote that the song will be rated. Next I want to generate a smart playlist with all the songs rate by exp. 5 stars.
How can I do that????
Many thanks for your help an mary christmas! ;-)

I've seen this feature on a "BOSE Sound System" and it works perfect. If you have 1000000 of MP3s, it would be really great to press a remote-button (while) playing and the song is rated.
After days you can use a smart playlist having all songs rated with 5 Star...

You need to map the remote actions in keymap.xml - see the <gamepad> section under the <musicvisualisation> section, and setup an appropriate <remote> section.
Hi!
Thank you for your Info.

It works so far but:
1. Is it possible, to set a button of the remote to give directly 5 Starts???
This would be great for me.
2. How is it possible to store the rating driekt into the mp3-file (so, if i take the file to an other device (Exp. MP3 Player) the rating is still available?
After I power off my xbox or after I leave the folder, the song isnt rated anymore??? Do I have to use the database modus???? Normaly I use only the "folder-modus" or "filesystem-modus".
What can I do to have the rating stored in the file???? Is it possbile? In my oppinion the mp3-file-header can store this information. Doesn't it????
Many thanks your Help!!!

No, XBMC stores the ratings locally in the database. It does not write to mp3 file.
