Excuse me for not using technical terms here...

But while in a folder (Vision & PM3), the Folders JPG is shown at the top bar of the skin....but if you go into a subfolder in that folder, the original Folder.JPG disapears...

Is it possible to show the first Folder.JPG's thruought all the folders inside?

I have my seasons/episodes like this:

\Simpsons\1x01 Blah.avi
\Simpsons\1x02 Blah.avi
\Simpsons\2x01 Blah Blah.avi
\Simpsons\2x01 Blah Blah.avi
\Simpsons\Folder.jpg

What I am aiming for is putting all my seasons in their own folders... so I want to be able to show the Simpsons Folder.JPG throughout all of the subfolders. So whether im in \Simpsons\Season1\ or \Simpsons\SpecialFeatures\Extras\Outtakes\, it will show that first folder.jpg located in \Simpsons\

Sorry for the long explaination :|

I'm not sure if this is already possible and im just an idiot (Most likely), or if this just isn't possible... thanks in advance :)

I patched the source to do this exact thing. It is poss using skinning but not if skinner didnt think of this. Music is done the way you say yet for some reason TV and Movies arnt. Its more political than anything to have it done this way id say.

Hiyya BP :) Long time, hows V2?

Anyway yea, I can understand MyPrograms being this way (Having a Folder.jpg for \Arcade\ and \Nintendo\ and \SuperNintendo\ , etc)...

But videos would only make sense to do it this way :(

So this would be possible via skinning you say? You said you changed the source to get this done? Is this something I can do myself? or will I need to be real knowledgable about xbmc code/xml? Again, sorry for my lack of proper terms here :|

its one line of code to do this... I could look though and find it as I lobbied for this awhile ago. It had an error in the line of code that it didnt link to stacked files as the names -cd1 -cd2 but for tv series and non stacked movies it worked well so I left it there.

The skin althat you need to do is to use the container picture as the art work

Ya BP that would be awesome if you can help me out with this, id really apreciate your help... like I always do when you help me via irc / msn :D

Just let me know what to do, you got my msn too if u need to chat, thanks for everything :)

I'm shocked XBMC doesn't have this implemented as a lot of ppl put their seasons in seperate subfolders :/ Feature Suggestion xbmc devs! :)

it's quite simple;

be smart, use the library :>

file view = file view = a view of your filesystem. if you use season folders you obviously do not want it to inherit the folder.jpg. if you did you wouldnt stick it in season folders

I agree its really for non library users that is why id say it hasnt been put in would be great if it was added in file view.

Spiff, I would love to user Library mode, but I'm a firm believer in offline XBMC :) I constantly take my Xbox to places (Family, Friends, etc) where they have no internet and/or too much hassle to hook it up to a jack

I wish XBMC offline was able to take advantage of online features :/ Such as Movie/TV Information. I'd love to be able to store episode/movie details inside a txt like 1x01 Pilot.avi and 1x01 Pilot.txt or something? I heard this was possible at one point but after some research found out its not anymore

Anyway, back on topic, I see your point though :) But its not that I have Folder.jpgs in my subfolders, I have no folder.jpg's so when I reach the subfolders the original Folder.JPG disapears and theres nothing :(

How about this, you get this implemented, and I'll send you a buncha Dahls :)

I wish XBMC offline was able to take advantage of online features :/ Such as Movie/TV Information.

Maybe i'm missunderstanding you but once you have scanned your files to the library the information can be accessed while offline. so you can access the Movie/TV Show information when you move your xbox.

The Dogg, I didn't quiet mean it that way...although I didn't know XBMC stores the information for use of offline...Interesting!

What I mean is the ability to just create your own information and plug it in for the movie/episode description, without going online at all. Possibly a txt info to go with a movie/episode file.

That is a good alternative method though, Maybe I can work something out with it! Thanks for the reply and informing me of that, apreciate it :)

nfo (http://xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/Nfo) files should do what you want for movies (but only in library mode, which works FINE offline).

awesome! sho thanks for the NFO link, I didn't know about that either...This could be exactly what im looking for... ive got some long days ahead of me inserting information for my movies/tv shows :| :|

But note, they really are not necessary unless you have movies that are not on imdb or comparable scrapeable sites or you want to display other info than they contain.
As stated before, once scraped the info STAYS in the library.

Let me get this straight...(Excuse me for my lack of online experience with XBMC...Not once have I ever connected XBMC online!)

Lets say say I enable Library Mode, I scan all my TV Shows and DVD Movies...After some hours of scanning it finds all the info and keeps it stored in XBMC for use for offline (Yet still in Library Mode)? And the onyl reason you would use the NFO method is for plugging in custom information for either 1) You want your own description or 2) It's a rare movie/episode which IMDB/other sites dont have info for?

Lastly, When XBMC scans for the movie/episode info, it doesn't create a NFO file and name it according to the movie/episode file does it? (Kind of like games, where a custom icon is set to the xbe, but if u make one and label it default.tbn it will use the tbn instead)...

Sorry if I confused you, I'm not the greatest at explaining myself, and its okay if you dont feel like explaining yourself to me, I can probably find these answers after some research via wiki...just hoping you can answer it and save me some time, if not no biggie :)

Thanks agian for the help sho

Also if my assumptions are right above, you can simply reply 'Yep' if you wanted

Yes, xbmc just needs an internet connection the first time it grabs the info for the movies when scanning to library mode. Im pretty sure it keeps all the info in the database file for movies in userdata
