HELP: Crashes immediatly upon start

just tried build 12th april and 19th april.
both immedately crashes when xbmc starts up. i've no idea.

last offical release worked fine. have network wth dsl-router. in the past xbmc worked fine, but not the actual one. only one time it run.. but the other times it crashes.. trying for hours.. maybe some one has an idea..
maybe something with network/dns? as log stops on get url: !?

my network: dsl-router 192.168.0.1, server 192.168.0.2, xbox 192.168.0.10. nameserver set to 192.168.0.1 and subnetmask to 255.255.255.0

you might wanna try removing the rss-control (http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.pl?act=st;f=2;t=3350). not really a solution but maybe xbmc will at least start for you. (http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/xbox-scene.xml
is the url the rss-control uses)

did you try deleting the "0face008" folder under tdata and udata on the e drive.

this can get rid of old settings from previous versions of xbmc run on your xbox.

tested the cvs 2004-04-14
latest one (19th of april)

it freezes after just 3 seconds. means i am able to scroll through the menues and it just freezes after this time.

removed the rss control. but did not help. if i remove the network cable it does work.

anybody an idea?
it seems to work for all the other ppl around :-( had no probs with previous releases.. so i am a little bit surprised..

it may still be something with the rss feed still trying to be read, though i'm not 100% sure. that would certainly account for the fact that it works with the network cable unplugged. did it still try and access rss from the net after you removed the control? (see in the logs).

the log says no.
but i went back to a march build. surprisingly this one refuses to work too.!!!!
though it run before really fine, beside of the fact that it often failed (=locks) when i tryed to access win2k shares.

now it freezes after a certain time.. i loop through the controls using the remote an suddenly it freezes.. that did not happen before.. i am completly lost.. :-( think i messed some things up.. will try to start from scratch..
or does anybody have a clue. as i said, i often have these feezings, when accesing win2k .. even before.. i can wait ages, but does not come back..

settings of the router maybe?

i figured it out myself...

it was dns set to 0.0.0.0 in evox dashboard

first of all i set ip,dns,gateway,netmask in xbmc config file..
but did not work at all..

then deiced to go for using evox defaults.. did not work

just as i set dns it started to work .. strange, isn't!?
because when i had set all this is xbmc explicit. it did not
work
