Cannot access Appearance menu...

I recently installed XBMC and it is using Project Mayham III skin that is included. I noticed my screen is off center so I went to go change the appearance.

However when I go to settings>appearance nothing comes up, the screen goes to the background without the menu comming up. That is until I hit the back button and then it pops up for less than a second before going back to the settings menu.

I booted holding down the two thumbsticks and then pressing A when asked, that didnt fix it. I have also deleted the apps\xbmc folder and then copied everything over there again...also did not fix it. I even deleted e:\tdata\0face008 and that didnt help.

I checked the log file i pulled from the xbox and after attempting to go into the appearance menu several times this is what it contained:

Hmmm sounds like a broken skin or perhaps an incompatible skin for the xbe.

Copy over the skin from a recent t3ch release or just do a full update.

Thats just it, it is the skin that came with the latest (September 10) release of t3ch XBMC. I have copied over it several times with no success

Just thought I would also let you know that if I go under skin options and shut off animations it will let me open up the appearance box, however I am not able to navigate it and none of the text will show as selected (none of it is highlighted)

And I just realized that I am getting the same results, or lack of therefor, from the music submenu of settings.

For whatever reason, it appears that your SettingsCategory.xml file is corrupt, or an old version.

Make sure it is the correct version from SVN.

Also, check you have nothing in the NTSC folders (other than font related stuff).

would http://xbmc.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/*checkout*/xbmc/trunk/XBMC/skin/Project%20Mayhem%20III/PAL/SettingsCategory.xml?revision=9672 be the proper xml file that I should have?

And I checked the NTSC folder, the only file in it is font.xml

If that is the correct xml then it did not resolve the issue.

No idea then I'm afraid. You say it only happens (i.e. you only get the exception in the debug log) in appearance settings and music settings?

Is this consistent?

Yes, happens everytime, each time I turn on my xbox it is the first thing I check

I just noticed there is a new version out, I will be trying that to see if it has any effect on it and will post my findings later tonight

Yes, I just went through to double check, it only happens on Music and Appearance

The latest release seems to have fixed whatever the issue was. I can now access all of the settings menus. Thanks for the help

If you would like me to rollback to the version that was giving me the issues in order to help you find a solution to the problem then I will even though it seems to be better now

That makes very little sense, seeing as nothing has changed between these versions.

Please do rollback when you get a chance and check it is still occuring.
