Morning all!
I've got what I think are Caching problems... and I've run out of ideas on how to fix it, and after searching the forums, I can't see my problem there, either... hopefully you can help!

Setup: I've got a Vista laptop wireless, and an oldschool xbox wired, to a Trendnet G Wireless router. I'm running XBMC 2007-07-29

Problems:
1) When I'm listening to music from my laptop HD (I share via SMB) sometimes the songs will clip off at about 20 or 30 seconds in, and it'll go to the next song.

2) Some videos will play from my laptop no problem, and some won't play at all. They will initialize, and go to the now playing window. But no audio no video just menu. However, those that won't, if I FTP them to the Xbox Harddrive, they play no problemo.

3) When I'm streaming video from the web, it will only play about the first 30 seconds again, and then quits and goes back to the main menu.

I probably haven't provided enough info, so please give me a hand and let me know what you need to know!

Thanks! Dh

It's probably a bad wireless network connection/settings.

But to eliminate anything else, you could (Perhaps you did already?) try the same videos/music while hardwired.

Good call ShortySco.. not sure why I didn't think of that.. but I had a look, and even hardwired, it doesn't work... however, the same file that I transferred onto the Xbox HD works fine.

I've got this same problem. Playing anything from my PC is fine. Its a wired connection between the xbox and the PC. But when I'm playing streaming TV it just plays a bit then stops, but the channels play fine on my PC. Streaming radio plays fine though.
Any help?

The biggest problem is that I can't get files to play over the network... Files saved on my laptop HD won't play over the network on the xbox. The files Cue, but won't play... They will play no problem though, if I transfer them to the xbox HD..

It's a problem with your SMB server timing out, disable any firewalls/antivirus and apps with high cpu/memory usage. Might also want to scan for virii and spyware as these can often spike you resources. Another option is a dying hdd, but you would probably have seen similar timeouts while using the PC normally.
