AC3/DTS passthrough & DVD playback?

Is it possible to get AC3/DTS Passthrough through SPDIF yet? Under Audio Hardware Settings I see that only Analog is allowed. Was wondering if there was any workaround available...
On an unrelated note will XBMC Linux support playing a DVD? I tried configuring the external DVD player to use xine but failed.

Thanks for the quick response. I have mostly everything I need working for me except 5.1 Audio so couldn't help asking.
