Posters are live on my site, but in a round-about kind of way. You can see the new design I'm working on here:

The main info edit still isn't working, it's missing series ratings and favorites, and there's a CSS bug when fewer than 3 images are shown in a section. However, you get the general idea. Anyway, the poster upload is working on there. You can use it to start uploading as you make your posters. It's already live in the API as well, so I just need to hook up with spiff and figure out how to allow users to designate which one they want.
DJH... I can do a mass upload of all of your existing banners, but I need them associated with the ID on my site and in rar/zip/whatever format. Perhaps name them as <id>.jpg? You'll notice I stole your Bones poster and used it for a test. Sorry about that. I'll change the creator field later. :)
Anyway, poster sizes should be 680x1000 and they need to be smaller than 500k, which should be more than enough (80% JPG compression is perfect quality in almost all cases).
PLEASE READ THE WIKI PAGE LINKED FROM THE UPLOAD FORM. My main goal with these is that they NOT be copies of DVD covers showing the season. Make them nice and it'll pay off for everyone. :)

Video info (pressing "i") when playing a movie, doesn't work for me.
Anyone else having this problem?

Displaying 20+ banners and fanart for some series was crushing the server in terms of bandwidth, processor usage, and making insanely long page load times for clients. The new method fixes all 3 and makes the page far easier to use.

djh, with the music info whilst in a full screen visualisation, is there any way for the album art and title/artist/album/year/track/time to continue to swap between each other, say every 10 to 20 secdonds (or even make it user-definable?)

Any chance of increasing the size of the focused cover to that of the one in Poster view? It would make it easier to read the smaller text (Excuse my crude paint skills).

When running 1080p on my projector the covers really aren't that big.
Maybe it could be an option, like 5 choices from smallest to largest?

Hmm. Doesn't it work that way already? Hover over a movie and it shifts to the left and displays the full info. I personally like the size of the movie posters as they are since they don't overlap the backdrop area at all. I guess slightly larger wouldn't hurt, though.

Just verified with 11b and the latest t3ch and I'm getting the movie info when you sit on a movie for a few seconds. I thought this was in since the beginning of showcase mode anyway, which would have been 11. Perhaps I'm wrong. In any case, it's in there and working properly on the Xbox. :)
Yeah, but the hovering info is only for Library mode, sadly, not File mode.
Regarding the Poster sizes, yes, some want them as they are and some want them larger. Well, if djh likes, we could have an option to choose what we like, different sizes :)

I've just started to add movie fanart to my collection - does it get stored on the drive with the movies or in the Aeon folder as I noticed it said to store them locally.
You could indeed have an option for different poster sizes - but I'm not doing it. The current icons are calibrated for the optimum balance of backdrop, wraplist and text. If your opinion differs, go ahead and mod it.
As for new threads for each build, I can't imagine it's a great idea given the number of repeat and redundant posts that are made in this one. I doubt the creators of other skins would appreciate having this flotilla of weekly Aeon posts bobbing up and down.

Yes, it's nothing to do with AEON though as I've tried it on other skins and got the same problem. You can overcome it by seloecting to edit the title and just press enter. Worked for me anyway.

Nobody asking redudant posts have read the current thread anyway. They'd be more likely to do so if there weren't 120+ pages of posts to read. :) I agree that a separate thread for each release isn't a good idea, but what about a new thread every couple of releases? Basically a new thread once a month or so?

I have a clean install of the newest t3ch build and alpha11b. I am unable to launch xvid avi files with mplayer while in Aeon, though they will play using DVDplayer. The files also play in PM3 with mplayer. This has been a problem for me since Alpha 11 was released. Just want to know if I am alone in this or if anyone knows the fix for this.
Also an unrelated question, I was wondering how to set the home shortcut for movies to direct to the new Home Theater plugin for apple movie scripts in library view.
If anyone knows anything about the mplayer issue, any help would be great as its driving me nuts. Thanks

Thought I might post here and help a few of you out who might be interested in modding Aeon (in particular, Alpha 11b) to show Foreign films and/or Documentaries on the home screen.
Like many other posters that have commented from time to time, sometimes it is nice to keep documentaries (and foreign films, perhaps) separate from ordinary movies, and this is where this 'mod' comes in. I guess it's really not a mod lol, it's really just a few words renamed and like a few things moved around... but if it fits under any category perhaps that's the one.

DJH is doing an amazing job on this screen, but understandably can't accomodate a million custom options for everyone... so for those who want a slightly different experience with foreign films and documentaries, this might be something worthwhile trying out.
All you have to do is download my homescrollers.xml and myvideo.xml and replace it with yours. I have taken this from Alpha 11b so make sure you're running this version when you test it out. Of course, make a backup of your own too.

Please note the following before trying this out:
Adult is renamed to Foreign - so enable Adult for the home screen, and use the Adult backdrop folder to get backdrops for foreign films.
Clips is renamed to Docos - again, enable Clips for the home screen, and use the Clips backdrop folder for your backdrops for documentaries.
Movies has been renamed to English. So if you don't use the foreign films option, you're stuck with Movies being called English.
The options are in the following order: English, Foreign, Docos, TV Shows - this will be the case whether or not you use either Foreign films or Docos.
Unfortunately XBMC doesn't support mutiple libraries (other than for Movies and TV Shows), so the foreign film and docos options can only link to Files view... check the album (link at top) for what this might look like.
I also had to manually specify the location of files for Adult and Clips in the Aeon options to get this working nicely... 'set default' didn't work so well for me, so do whatever works for you.

Try resizing a single backdrop to a lower resolution (eg 960x540), then load it as the default backdrop and try the avi again. If it now runs then go ahead resize all of them.
It's likely to be an Xbox memory problem.

Hi Ive been following this Thread for a very long time and am a huge fan of this skin. I was just wondering if there was a way when in library mode to mark if a movie is HD compared to like a normal rip? In file mode I have all my HD movies labeled with an [HD] tag so I know I just didnt know if the same was possible for library mode or not? thanks

I do something similar with each release that I install: replace "ADULT" with "KIDS" so that I get a top-level menu option to take me to the kiddies movie folder (I need to use file mode for this however to maintain separation between the sets).
Perhaps generic instructions are required on the Aeon FAQ ("How do I replace "ADULT" with my own label?", etc), rather than specially modded files (which are likely to change between releases).

I do almost the same - replace clips with KIDS TV and adults with MTV (all my music videos) and use file mode for them with no problems. It would be quite good to be able to have custom labels for the homescroller.

Ok. so i'm running the latest bulit of t3ch and i downloaded all of the backrops and used infraview to turn them into tif file but I can't get them to show up on aeon. I'm running alpha 11b the latest release. What am I doing wrong?
Have you told AEON where they are in the settings?

I also have trouble finding the right combinations of lowering resolutions and cache to these xvids to play. For some of them, lowering the cache to 1024 will do the trick and some need a combination lowering reso. and cache.

banner views seems to retain the files view rear stip covering backdops
as for movie fanart problem could it be because they are all remote shares from my pc and not stored locally (on xbox hdd)?

I've got a small problem :
- When I use the scraper TVDB in English, all is OK but with the resume in English (normal).
- When I use the scraper TVDB in French (by way of Skin PMIII for access setting scraper), I've got in skin AEON the resume in French but all wallpaper are out :(
Is it a "bug" of AEON or "missing" a file in TVDB ?

I made a folder called backdrops and put it in my app via FTP and when I try and go to the backdrop folder i made in the Aeon menu to set my backdrops nothing shows up not even the folder. I there a better way?

I have everything set to 4096 right now, while running 720p backdrops, though it may need to be reduced further or resize the backdrops even smaller as I am still experiencing a small memory issue still.

An inevitable and necessary one, too, though it does seem premature if so. Whatever the case, the team will have a solid reason. Maybe one of them can chip in to stop the debate before it escalates.

It was merged over (see the merged: lines in the changelog), so if it doesn't work, then it's either pebkac, or there's a bug, though IMO it would be unlikely that it's an xbox specific bug as there's no platform specific stuff involved.
A debug log may mention something.

Although xbmc runs fine on my xbox
for some reason 95% of my log files always contain errrors and warnings
95% of my log seems a bit steep for error accounts
this is just a minute example
as u can see these errors happen no matter wich skin i use (Aeon or PM3)

I know its kinda off to to the discussed subject right now but I was just wandering about the music backdrops. I mean, What if I have a different taste.. and I dont even know what the bands looks like but still would like some sort changing backdrops? I thought maybe to put the covers on..? but its really hard to find quality pictures at these sizes. I made a few myself and its ok but its not enough. Where do you find quality pictures of music artists or quality covers at these sizes?? what do you do?

I just stumbled upon Aeon a couple of days ago and I'm floored. It's an amazing looking skin/interface. I've been planning on building a media center box for a while and I was just wondering if this runs on Windows? I've seen a lot of mention of Linux. Thanks in advance!

bear in mind windows builds are still a reletivly new thing and bugs are definatley in there but still works a treat even on vista. just remember to run the install as admin and also once installed run as admin

By running everything as admin you are pretty much compromising alot of the security running as a normal user gives you - the better solution would be to change the folder permissions accordingly so your user has the rights to change files in the xbmc folder.

so your saying that each background image you put in a different folder? You should put all of your tv images for example in a folder called tv, all the movie images in a folder called movies... so on and so forth.

I'm with C2W on this one...man it easy on yourself mate and just have a folder for each section, drop in the relevant images to each folder and then point Aeon to whatever you want..specific backgrounds or folder so that you have circulating images.

If you don't minds a little lag, you can also use your fanart directory for your TV shows, so that as you add shows, the backdrops show up too.
On my Xbox, the lag was very minimal, and barely noticeable.

I'm sorry if this is already stated, I've been playing around with the options to fix it, but has anyone noticed (on xbox) that the "Now Playing" list.. never displays the items / in the list? (video now playing)
It displays how many items are in the list but never the items in it.. :/ - again sorry if this is already stated/being addressed.

So I've noticed thetvdb.com hosting Poster art, does this mean we can expect a scraper for poster art?
It's on spiff's short term to-do list. That means it'll be done when it's done, but probably days or weeks rather than months. He needs to implement a scraper setting in XBMC in addition to the actual scraper adjustments, which is why it's more than a simple change. When he makes the change, I'd suggest thanking him since he makes lots of scraper adjustments to handle stuff like this. :)
In the meantime you could modify the current scraper if you wanted to. The API for the site is available in our wiki.

I have downloaded the backpack for aeon, (the images came as bitmaps not jpegs) I used Infraview to change them to tif files but when I go into the aeon menu and then the backdrops menu select the folder where I put all my backdrops nothing show up in the folder. I tried it with the back drops just as bitmaps to see what would happen and the at least the images show up in the folder but when I select one as my backdrop the screan is just black. I have the latest t3ch build and I am running aeon 11b any advice as I don't know what elese to do

Well my view is permanently expanded, the black part is taking up half the screen and the titles listed cannot be seen unless they're selected because the black text melts into the black settings portion.
When I do hit "c" it expands even more and now the black part slides over and takes up 75% of the screen... anyone know a fix?

- When I use the scraper TVDB in English, all is OK but with the resume in English (normal).
- When I use the scraper TVDB in French (by way of Skin PMIII for access setting scraper), I've got in skin AEON the resume in French but all wallpaper are out :(
Is it a "bug" of AEON or "missing" a file in TVDB ?

I'm using a 1080p projector on a large screen. Because of that I thought that the posters in List view looked very small for my taste.
djh said that he didn't want to include the option to choose different poster sizes, and I respect that. The size he has chosen works very well for most people :)
I have made a mod of List view that shows the movie posters as big as possible and I have shifted the text (movie titles) more to the left, to make room for the larger poster.
I'm not a theme-maker and I bet someone could do a much better job than me on this, but if anyone likes it I will include a link to the mod.

I bet you can just remove the Label that shows the files size, in the CommonContent.xml.
I moved the label around for the large poster mod.

Should be:
It was merged over (see the merged: lines in the changelog), so if it doesn't work, then it's either pebkac, or there's a bug, though IMO it would be unlikely that it's an xbox specific bug as there's no platform specific stuff involved.
A debug log may mention something.
I'm having problems getting backdrops to work on the Xbox. I put all the bmps in a folder and point to the folder. Lower the resolution. The XBox is limited in memory so if you have a lot of large images as backdrops it is going to choke. Change the resolution to 1280x720, re-save them, and they should work just fine.

One issue I have noticed with the last few releases though, djh, is that when I go into TV Shows and drill into the episodes level and then try to back it gets to the season level fine. But when I press back again to get to the list of the TV Shows it just goes to a blank list. The only way I can get my list again is to back totally out to the main screen and reselect TV shows. Has anyone else been having this issue?
I was having a similar problem on my HTPC where I'd press the home button after being in the episode view and upon returning to TV Shows or Movies it would just be a black screen. The only way to sort it was by closing down XBMC.
I finally fixed it by using 1280x720 backdrops instead of 1920x1080 ones but I did notice that when pressing home AEON displays the originally selected TV Show backdrop very briefly before it shows the home screen.

Yep, having the same issue, nothing shows up. Image mode (pressing "z") is also kind of broken - the zoom/aspect changes but no info shows up on the screen.

Forgive me if I am asking something that has already been answered but I don't fancy ploughing through 235 pages!
I am planning to setup some Macs running the ported version of XBMC (and Aeon) and have a couple of questions regarding the background artwork. I am aware the artwork is normally sized for a 1080p display and is currently distributed as JPEGs to save space and bandwidth for the hosting server. I have also seen mention that transitioning of the images is smoother if the files are converted back to BMP or TIFF.
My first question is, would PNG be an equally suitable format (in terms of smooth operation) to BMP or TIFF? If not would compressed TIFF be suitable?
My second question is, bearing in mind I would be using a Core2Duo Mac mini, instead of an antique Xbox, would using 1080p images be fine when using a 720p TV? That is would automatic downscaling be satisfactory both in quality and performance (smoothness again). If this is possible I could have the computer loaded with 1080p images and it would work equally well on a 720p or 1080p TV.
PS. Aeon looks stunning.

Once I mark a movie as watched in the library, it disappear (as it's supposed to), is there any way to switch views (without going to files and exiting the library) to view all your watched movies?
I like to keep my library clean and see all the current movies I haven't had a chance to watch without scrolling through all the others.

I'm having some trouble with Aeon alpha11a and the latest windows xbmc build: the movie info screen doesn't show a proper background, which makes it really difficult to read, and the plot info doesn't show up at all. see screenshot:

The cover should slide to the left and reveal info about the movie.

If you just have one folder for battlestar galactica, then name each episode, something like "battlestar.galactica.s01e01.avi" then when you scan you should be fine.
There shouldn't be issues with having season sub-folders under your main BSG folder....but I've known strange things to happen when I do that. Just fling them all into one folder (which includes your folder.jpg file) and re-scan...

No, he doesn't mind; it's expected for backdrops. However, that doesn't mean you should DL them all for the sake of having them: please only take what you intend to use. _djh pays the bills for the hosting, and it's not nice to take advantage of that.

Things got a bit hectic back there, what with the four day holiday in Prague, wedding anniversary and big dollop of paid work.
It's made be realise that I have to be a bit more focused when it comes to getting this thing finished, especially with the buzz following that recent Gizmodo story. That involves 1) features and bug-testing, 2) collaborations (for colour schemes and icon sets), and 3) uploading to SVN, documenting and optimising the code. Erk.
So new backdrops will just be an occasional thing from now on, and I'll take much of the skin back into Photoshop to ensure a more "finished" look. I'll post details of the icon and colour scheme projects this w/e, along with a new PSD pack.

Allow me to step up to the plate with the first n00bie question :D
I had my xml files and everything set just right using a the normal PM skin, but after resetting it all after upgrading to the latest build and AEON, my question is this.
When I select movies, it goes to a list of my folders, Movies, TV, Music etc
same when I pick TV. I can't get it to just go into the movies folder or the TV folder.
Where am I going wrong????

If I'm not mistaken, keymap.xml is an XBMC thing, not a skin-based feature.

You don't have to because they're stored in the guisettings.xml which is in the UserData folder so updating AEON will not erase them.

It's not a folder. First you make a new entry for movies and give that a name, say MyCoolMovies. That name you can use in the Aeon settings

Congrats on the anniversary and good to have you back. I love this view you posted and I was wondering. What if when you hovered on a movie for a few seconds the list disappeared to reveal the movie info, similar to the side scrolling poster view? I think that might look pretty cool :)

Also try pressing the Right directional...I think I have to press Right twice to get it to show the horizontal menu, though that may be in another view. Unfortunately I can't run XBMC at work :-)
In AEON it's Screen Settings (other skins it's Appearance), then Screen, then Video Calibration...
11b. It's always worked though.

A quick question, i just started using this skin cos other skins are still a work in progress very much and i'd like to give this one a try.
So far i like the way this skin is made and it's lay out however i've encountered 1 problem and that's with the backdrops.
I can't get them to changeover smoothly. I've downloaded the backdrops from the aeon site and as normal .jpg they work however not so smooth on that old xbox. Now on the site itself it said that i had to convert them to uncompressed .tif with IrfanView. This worked like a charm and i can even view them on the xbox with the picture viewer. However Aeon doesn't pick them up and i can't put them as my background with either the set background or set background folder.
Any one know what i'm doing wrong here?

Yup! The insturction to convert to .tiff is obsolete. Convert them to .bmp to minimize the workoload on teh Xbox-- and make sure you have "Xbox Mode" turned on in the Aeon settings, and you'll be golden.

Is the √ on the left, and indication that "this movie has been watched"?
If it is, how about doing it as an overlay on the movie poster on the right, instead?
I think it would blend in better that way.
It is, though that screen was just a mockup. There are a couple of small formatting things there that aren't actually possible right now, and the icons were just chucked in on a whim. I'll have something realtime to show you later this evening.

Looks sweet! I prefer the list view aswell because that allows for easier searching trough my movies then the showcase or posterwall.
The downside of that view so far however is that movie info doesn't show up automatically and there's just little information in the view in general.

No, he doesn't mind; it's expected for backdrops. However, that doesn't mean you should DL them all for the sake of having them: please only take what you intend to use. _djh pays the bills for the hosting, and it's not nice to take advantage of that.

I think a watched status indicator as a frame would be nice, you could simply have a more/less opaque frame for watched movies.
I think a check mark per se would spoil the view, but it could bbe done very low key.

I am trying to get an answer to this as well ??? BMPs waste a lot of disk space. Are compressed TIFF supported, or what about PNG? Both are lossless compressed image formats.
Both are supported, though both will give you a slight loading pause. Basically, TIFF or BMP are the fast choice while JPG, PNG or compressed TIFF give you smaller size at a slight speed penalty.

Say another thing popped up as i was playing around with the background directorys. Sometimes an background doesn't get shown. The background pics are taken directly off the aeon site and are .BMP format. Sometimes it just shows a black background and sometimes it shows an background perfectly.
What is causing this? There doesn't seem to be any consistency in which backgrounds do or don't get shown or when. I've seen all backgrounds once and it happens with all 'catagory's' like music, movies, tv-shows etc.
Any 1 have a clue?

You're on an Xbox, right? It's probably a memory issue. Try resizing all the backdrops to 720x1280 (instead of 1080x1920) and it should clear up. Also, make sure you've got Xbox Mode ON in the Aeon settings.
I'm a new user, and I'm having font problems. The font that is used by Aeon doesn't support ÅÄÖ characters (swedish). Is there a way to replace the font?

Well, I guess that's it for webhost number three. Sounds fair enough, though, given the content being shared, the nature of the server and the sudden rush of visitors.
So... what to do? I'm thinking it might be best to host the files (backdrops and posters) separately while hosting the site itself conventionally. I'm a bit sceptical about switching to a dedicated server as they might just see the backdrops as violating their terms of service anyway. Amazon S3 was suggested by someone but is too expensive for a site that consumes several hundred gb of bandwidth a month. Suggestions, anyone?

As Jezz_X noted, there are currently several articles on the web about AEON that are right now drawing a lot of attention to your aeoncentral.com (http://www.aeoncentral.com) site, I suspect the high-traffic hit will cool down in within a week or two.
I suggest that you PM szsori (http://xbmc.org/forum/member.php?u=21699) (Scott Zsori of TheTVDB (http://www.thetvdb.com)) and ask him which host he is using for TheTVDB.com (http://www.thetvdb.com), IIRC he said that he have found a host that is cheap which offers unlimited bandwidth and disk-space, ...he might also have some ideas on how to track down and eliminate some of the CPU hogging features of your site (there are many hosts out there with unlimited bandwidth and disk-space, but none offers unlimited CPU usage unless you pay for a dedicated server).
Also, after you have open source your AEON skin and uploaded it to the XBMC Skinning Project (http://sourceforge.net/projects/xboxmediacenter) SVN, you will also be able to host the skin downloads on the XBMC Skinning Project (http://sourceforge.net/projects/xboxmediacenter) (which you can simply link to from your site) and that should take of part of the bandwidth issues that hosting such a such popular skin brings.
PS! Your site still reads "Xbox Media Center", but we have officially renamed it to just "XBMC", (or "XBMC media center" if you prefer). The "XBox Media Center" name is no longer, the king is dead, long live the king.

I've been using it for years for two of my fourms (this (http://www.kraak-forum.nl/index.php?sid=72d7587b73ba7ef02bfc878290fe6bd3) one i.a.). The connection is not the fastest, but the options are numerous and the price low.
I have no experience with this kind of bandwidth usage. But it seems like they have a 5010GB monthly bandwidth limit and 510GB storage. Should be enough, but it might sound a bit better then it is. I don't know...
Fact is that I have never reached a limit on the servers of servage.net :). And that's a first!
The bandwidth and storage limit continuously increases by the way.... A few years back they offered a stunning 4GB of storage (which sounded as "unlimited" at that point).
I would host it on either google or sourceforge, then only have thumbs linking there on the site.

I also had similar problems. I switched to Aeon a few days ago on my XBOX. First I tried resizing all the pictures and putting Xbox Mode to ON, as you suggested, but it still was blacking out. It wasn't until I set the screen resolution to 720p that the blackouts stopped. Now it works great, except for the few bugs. Still better that anything else I've seen, IMO.

rapidshare is TERRIBLE... i super-highly recommend mediafire (http://www.mediafire.com/) because it has faster speeds and waiting periods
but mediafire has none of these things - i've been using it for about a year now without issue with over 60GB transferred through hosting files and publically distributing the links... haven't had any trouble yet

I think bittorrent is a good idea and I will start downloading and seeding those backdrops this evening. Cheers for your hard work, and I truely hope alot of the skin users help out because I really don't see why you should pay for the hosting for yourself.
You don't have to because they're stored in the guisettings.xml which is in the UserData folder so updating AEON will not erase them.
I don't know if this is correct, but when upgrading XBMC I always remove the UserData folder. My experience is that keeping the UserData folder might create problems. Are you saying that keeping the UserData folder when upgrading XBMC is safe?
BTW. All the skins that I've used so far has been translated into my language. I think that this feature is built in XBMC. But Aeon seems only to be available in english. How can I enable other languages that english in aeon?
Another question. Can someone give an example on how to add a new menu item? The readme file points to an example, but the example is unavailable. The readme say that you only have to add a few lines in the sources.xml file. But I'm not sure what to add. So if anyone has succeeded in this, please post how you did it.

RE: Released - What's displayed on the website isn't always already released, though from my experience, if it's displayed there, its usually coming in the next build...
RE: Posters - You currently have to download the posters manually, though I guess they're working on a setting for XBMC to allow you to select which you want. Put them in the same directory as the respective TV Show and then do TV Show Information>>Get Thumb.

That's the whole point of the UserData folder so you don't have to re-enter all your settings each time you upgrade XBMC.

I love the skin, but have a slight issue with how the fanart and backdrops work.
I've got a lot of movies, which I keep in seperate folders. The reason I do this is because most of them are rar'd, and by adding a folder.jpg to each directory, they all display as single movies. But with the -fanart.jpg naming deal, it would appear that I'd have to extract all of the movies in my collection to get the backgrounds to appear, right?
Well, what if you could add a scanner to the backdrop program that just searches a directory for a file called "fanart.jpg" and uses that when the directory is highlighted? IMHO, I think it would be quicker for people, and work more universally.
Same goes with the issue of using posters over banners for TV eps. I don't mind using posters, but if I've already got all 23 dir's set up to use banners for the folder.jpg file, I've now got to replace all of those files manually with poster images. Then, if I decide that I want to go back to a skin that utilizes banners instead of posters, I've got to manually swap everything again.
So, seeing as how your skin is one of the few ones that specifically targets poster images, why not add a scanner that looks for a "*-poster.jpg" file and uses that instead of the default "folder.jpg"?
Other than that tiny issue, I truly do love what I'm seeing. Everything is so crispy, half the time I don't even want to play anything. I just wanna sit there and look at the screen. :D
And if these modifications are too much to ask for, then perhaps you could point me to the setting file that I could tweak to do it myself?
It's too much to ask a skinner for, yes: the whats and hows of content artwork are entirely the domain of XBMC rather than its skins. Maybe post something in the feature suggestions forum?

Again, that is a feature request for xbmc. Not something to do with the individual skin.

I'm pretty sure that the backdrops are set by Aeon itself. Hence the special settings in the Aeon menu that determine which backdrops to cycle through. And seeing as how one of the biggest features of Aeon is the backdrops...I'm pretty sure that it's a skin-based factor.

This is what I was referring to. It must be named moviename-fanart.jpg or .png to work. This is not a limitation of the skin, it is just the way xbmc works. And Hitcher was right. You must specify a folder for the multi-image random backgrounds. That is an xbmc thing not a skin thing.

it's a memory issue.. you are too low on memory on the xbox, its a xbox setting in the aeon settings, also look in this thread for more tips

Between the craziness last week and the madness this week, I've barely had time to do anything. Here's the news:

- fonts rejigged across the skin
- video info more visible during Showcase (this is a temporary fix - a proper redesign depends on a bit more versatility with context menu skinning. Not that I've asked anyone for it yet)
- a few broken labels repaired

Context menus in TV Shows (files) are hosed...works fine in the Library, as well as in both files/library for Movies.
All I get for options is "settings" (No TV Show Info, Set Content, etc). Switched to PM3 to make sure I was remembering things right (I was), and set up my library from there.

One thing I realy mis is the movie-library view PMIII offers where you have all the information about a movie and a listview of all the movies in the database in one screen. It's not a reason to not use Aeon, but I do mis it.

I have the same problem. Cant seem to get the movies fanart to work while the TV Shows does fine. Does the fanart have to be a specific size? Ive got one which is 1600x1200.
I don't think the movies fanart works at all on the xbox - I have a movies fanart view in my skin which works fine under Linux but doesn't work on the xbox. Are you using an xbox by any chance?
but not Linux right? I can't get movie fanart to work in windows either only in the Linux build...can anyone else I wonder?

I'm using T3CH rev 14095 and Aeon 11c, still can't get movie fanart working.
Even gone s far as to start all over with a completely new install, and new library.
I have the files named movie.avi and movie-fanart.avi, won't show up on new scan, or even manually selecting the fanart.
The fanart tbn's do get put into the fanart folder in the thumbails/video/fanart directory, they just don't display.

I have to say that I think the Acens font is better than the Xepher font, but I still prefer the thick look of the Media Gothic font. Am I the only one that feels this way? I would love to see it come back as an option...

i can confirm that movie fanart works with the windows build when the files are stored locally but i cant confirm if it works over smb but i am in the process of moving all my movies to my new NAS so i will report when iv finished and rescaned library.
XBOX does not display with me either, may be some kind of memory issue. we need to report this elseware in the appropriate thread so please give your support and let the developer know.
im gona try and find the appropriate thread now.

How about asking someone who's actually in a position to answer? I have no Xbox to test and, even if I did, the fact remains that movie art support is present and correct. If you think it's a memory issue on Xbox then you can test it by playing with backdrop resolutions, though there still won't be a solution. Otherwise it's an XBMC build issue, which is nothing I can control.
