First post on here, but I've been scanning previous support/help messages and have read the Wiki and think that I'm probably leaving out something very basic. I'm new to the XBMC and am learning as I go along.

I'm trying to stream videos from my PC (Windows XP) to my XBMC (softmod with UnleashX Dash and XMBC pre-2.1, MPlayer SVN r8532).

The Xbox is connected to a Buffalo router that is using WDS bridging to connect to another Buffalo router that is connected to the PC. There are also two other Buffalo routers bridged into the main one. I can stream from my two ReplayTVs to the XBMC without problems.

I have Sharing turned on for the folders on my PC where I have the videos I want to watch. When I navigate in XBMC through SMB Workgroup, I can find the folders that contain the videos, but it will not let me open them to see and play the actual video files. This is the same with folders that contain .avi, .iso/.img, and VOB files. Pressing the white button and "play video" does nothing. If I choose to "set content" then the system freezes.

Any help or a nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

you didn't say from when your xbmc build is. also a debug log would be very helpfull (hold X,Y on startup, check for freememdisplay)

The XBMC build is pre-2.1 (Compiled May 7, 2007).
MPlayer XBMC-SVN-r8532 (April 22, 2007-22:44:49)

When I hold X,Y on startup, the freemem display in the upper left corner doesn't show much of interest:
FreeMem 21700/65536 Kb, FPS 30.0, CPU 3%.

But an xbmc.log is generated with way more information to help diagnose!! You failed to provide a link to the log when debug was enabled.

Okay, I obviously didn't understand what was being asked of me by elupus. As I said, I'm new to all of this. I'll try to post something to pastebin and post the link later tonight. Thanks.
