Is there anyone that would like to create a script to download movies and TV shows from Joox.net?
The script should really rock if there was a 'download-list' and 'shutdown after finish downloading' function in it. But I guess that will be allways a dream. ;)

Thanks for your reaction but that's only for streaming files from JooX, I'm talking about downloading the files.

remove:
import Image, ImageFile
or just grab the kmlbrowser script and copy the lib folder to you system/python folder
What is the quality like for joox.net? what resolution and how well does the streaming work... e.g. pauses, skips, etc?
Seems like more and more of these types of sites are popping up, most suck and have lame or old stuff and/or very little of anything.
Joox uses stage6 from divx.com - and that is a high resolution alternative to youtube, they have a very good server and high resolution video content. I have seen stuff with almost DVD quality being streamed without a problem, if you have a fast enough connection that is.

Joox recently changed the layout for the new entries.
I think that the current script doesn't play this new entries.
The modification to make it work is pretty easy though.

which joox script are yall using?
i am not at my xbmc right now but i think it is 1.1 but I think it is working now as the site is backup.
It is sadly using a old database and new videos are not able to be added yet.
Admin said it should be up fully tomorow.

You cannot play the new entries (white one items in the web browser) with the unmodified script.
In fact the basic script looks for '">' as terminating tag while when there is a white (new) entry the tag changes accordingly. Very easy to change.

At this moment Joox is down, but there is a JooX downloadscript, created by GroteBozeWolf. You'll find it here (http://www.rieter.net/uitzendinggemist/)
Thnx 2 GroteBozeWolf for this fantastic script!

True, I (Basje=GroteBozewolf) already have a post here: http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25522
As that software is mostly Dutch oriented, I will soon release a script called JooXBox, which will be the Joox.net part of my Uitzendinggemist.v2 script.

This should be very easy to add (they even copied the joox layout)

What's the modification?
I've looked through the .py and don't see where the error is.
I keep getting the "unable to load playlist", which seems to be related to it trying to load too fast, timing out, etc.

It will be fixed in uitzendinggemist.v2 soon

The server had to be moved and is not being moved again. this is a message from the owner of Joox.net
'm sorry for the errors and for joox being so slow.
it's not rented but runned of normal PC's in peoples wardrobes. not hard to find >100mbit connections here in sweden ;)
This servers isn't really handling all the trafic that good. Have to wait a while for the other one to be upgraded and moved to it's new gigabit line. should work better then.
This is why you get the errors. It is not a site change (From what i can see) its just the server times out and gives that error.
Any updates on Joox? Please bump this thread.....It still appears to be down....
here is the latest update from the founder of joox.net:
Joox.CO Says:
We had to officially shut down the site due to repeated warnings about theft and copy-right violations. Truth to be told, the managers, myself included, don’t really give a crap about any copy-right violations, but after someone threatened to sue, I felt I didn’t have a choice.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but you can visit stage6.com if the urge to stream high quality videos persists.
I’m thinking of starting a site myself, and the Anonymous post above has a point; stage6 do give out their links freely, and embedding isn’t actually against the law. So screw those people who are jealous of our success and worry about us violating their rights to the wallets of people like you.
Here’s to the memory of Joox. We had a good run.
For more info on my new site, call me at 713-666-2721

I know very little about Python, but was playing around with the Joox Scripts and trying to access flowed.nl. The screen layout looks very similar, and so I though of changing a few thing to list the videos on there, but so far without any luck.
I got the old Joox script (not 1.01) and tried to get a list, the old way from cat URL, so far can't get anything to display.
Thanks
Eilz

Playing around last night and noticed Joox was back, though I still looking at ways to find a backup script for flowed.nl, can anyone help.

As soon as I finish my TV-Links.co.uk channel, I will add flowed.nl to XOT (XBMC Online TV). More info on http://code.google.com/p/xot-uzg/ or http://www.rieter.net/uitzendinggemist/

I don't seem to understand how uitzendinggemist work, and how your adding scripts into it. I installed it and can only see various bits on RTL channels 1-7 etc.., but no sign of any other channels, most are non-english channels, am i doing something wrong. I remember getting into a list b4 selecting the circle icon, but now I dont see anything in the catergorys anymore, is something wrong with the script or my version of xmbc? Thanks Eilz

No, if you are using a recent (not older than 2 months) version of XBMC you are not doing something wrong. At the moment only Dutch channels and Joox.net are available. However, I am working on TV-Links.co.uk and on a Joox.net replacement.
Besides that, I am working on tutorials on how to create new channels for XOT, so other people can also create channels (and share them via the XOT website). They need to be programmed in python using XOT as a framework. The framework takes care of most of the coding, it is just the channel depending parts (url's & regular expressions) that need to be scripted. More details will be available as soon as possible on the Wiki page of XOT.
The site is not gone and is down often lately due to massive server load, and is constantly being upgraded, and soon will be upgraded enough to handle more then enough server load. Try contacting people with correct information within the Joox official irc chat @ irc.ashnet.org #joox , I am an op in the room and my alias is also ‘dying’, if you have any further questions please feel free to contact me in the room or either by email. Thank you.
oh thank you so much...This just made my day...

Small fix for JooX_NET 1.01 to correct urls for videos listed on joox in white.
default.py
index5 = m.find('">')
if index1 != -1 or index2 != -1:
if index3 != -1:
tmp = CMediaItem() #create new item
tmp.id = counter
if index4 != -1:
value = m[index4+3:index5]
tmp.URL =
add lines with * (excluding the *)
index5 = m.find('">')
* index6 = m.find('" style="color:white;')
if index1 != -1 or index2 != -1:
if index3 != -1:
tmp = CMediaItem() #create new item
tmp.id = counter
if index4 != -1:
value = m[index4+3:index5]

Hey folks,
Script has stopped working. It gives the error 'Playlist could not be opened' on clicking 'Confirmed'.
Since the joox website is working fine I suspect there's been some change to the website itself....havn't looked at the script's code mind you......
Cheers folks,

Yeh I think it is something to do with joox recently blocking the urrlib user agent as Unbehagen pointed out in another thread
http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=28434&highlight=joox.
Unbehagen's fixed plugin should enable you to use Joox through the plugin folder, the plugin can be found here

Does this still work or is some one creating an updated version of this to work with the new joox?
