I have some videos in my database both over an SMB share and on the hard disk. I want to keep the network videos in the database but I don't want to display them in the Library View.

You can create a locked & unlocked share and scan them in then when in library view they shouldnt be seen unless you unlock all shares

I think I understand what you mean. I don't really want to have to enter a password to access the share, though.

the point would be.. you enter it to see the shares... they cant so they cant see them ;)

I still want to be able to see the shares without a password... I just don't want them showing up in Library View.

Don't set content on the share, only local folders. Then Scan to Library.

But what exactly do you mean by "I want to keep the network videos in the database but I don't want to display them in the Library View."?
You want them in the DB but not in the Library?
For what purpose do you want them in the DB?
(Fyi all played videos are in the DB, storing various info, even though they are not shown in the Library)

I want IMDB information available but I don't want the videos showing up in Library View.

I take it this is so you can take your xbox away from home but still use library mode without all the dead links (Movies stored on LAN)

Can't you make two sources, set content and scan bith to library....

Then you could use library mode at home and just the local source when away (white button - Movie Information for imdb info from the library)

Or am i missing the point?

I just don't want to see duplicate files when I use Library View. It would happen because I store some of the same files locally and on the network.

Two ideas off the top of my head...

1 - Have two XBMC's installed (I do with no adverse effects, i know this used to cause issues, but afaik not anymore, anyone?)

One with Network media only, one with smb media. For ease of use, i think there is some old prog (or bios?) that allows you to boot different apps by holding a button at boot (Ie.. no pressed buttons = XBMC(LAN) hold y = XBMC(Local)

2 - Setup two profiles within xbmc and switch between them based on your needs.
