View Full Version : A way to get file-names as titles in library mode (movies)?

I would like to set the library mode to use my filnames as titles, rather than the scraped ones.

Is there some way to do this?

Why?

1. I would like the English names for foreign movies.

2. I want to group sequels together: ie. movie - 1, movie - 2 - sequel name, movie - 3 - sequel name.

3. Some of the IMDB names use special characters.

4. Alot of the imdb names are just plain screwy.

5. If you have alot of movies (1000+) editing the db is a huge job, it seems like there should be an option for this...

So can someone tell me how?

Rename (or Edit Title can't remember) from the Context menu?

isnt there an option in which you could specify the heading in the nfo (I am doing this out of memory so dont flame too badly). Or was that singularly to you could put the data in that goes into the database OR the IMDB URL... not sure if combinations work....

<title>Whatever I</title>

I was actually hoping for a setting. I was already aware that I can edit both the .nfo's and the videodb.xml, but doing this for hundreds of movies is pretty time consuming. I was hoping there might be some way to have the scraper ignore the title on imdb and just use mine, or to have the library mode use my filenames, to save me the hours and hours of editing.

Guess that is the only option though, thanks!

This would be a rather nice feature. I don't use library mode for this very reason. I have a lot of multi disc series and when the scraper pulls the name for them I just get a very general name (e.g. "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" instead of Aqua Teen Hunger Force Season 1 Disc 2 - which is my file name).

Yes that, or you could download the db, edit it with SQLiteSpy and upload (should be less time consuming than from the GUI).
