View Full Version : No digital sound from my XBOX
while running media center, i noticed that my signal on my from the xbox was not reading digital output, so i read the fourms and it mentioned that i would need to turn that option on in the ms dash before loading xbmc, now i can't get any sound to come out of my digital audio cable. i tried different qalities of cables, but didn't have any luck. i'm hoping i won't have to flash to bios to get this to work correctly, can anyone shed some light on the problem?

disable stereo passthrough of dolby digital, or get a more current version of xbmc in which this issue should be fixed in.
i am running the newest version of xbmc 03-09-04, and even tried going back to the feb versions, but still cannot get digital sound. after logging the ms dash and disabling dolby and dts, and dropping back to stero. i still cannot get sound. i also tried to drop to mono, but still no use.
and you get digital sound in other apps (such as games)?
no, i can't get any sound from my digital ouput. i plugged in the analog and they work fine, but nothing from my opital cable. i tested the cables, so i have to believe it's a setting on the xbox. when i logged into the msdash and turned dts and dolby on, i booted into xbmc and turned digital on as well as the other out option, that did not show up before. i then loaded ninja gaiden, and realized i didn't have any sound. i tried other games and mp3s with the same result. i then went back into the msdash and turned the settings off, but no longer have any audio.
i assuming your decoder support 48khz digital signals. sounds kinda odd - only thing i can think of is a broken connector or cable.
i'm actually usign the logitech z680 speakers, that normal do not have a problem with the output. i have and rca tv with a vport. however, i also got the standard xbox hd pack, and still could not get the audio to return. tonight i flashed my matrix chip with the newest bios and nothing special. attempting to load the old backup, get after getting chip

if you're not even getting sound from games then know that it must be a hardware issue/problem, and it cannot be a xbmc fault
