Version: 0.8

Release notes:
EvoxT-Trainers is a Xbox trainer downloader script for XBMC. It grabs all content from
www.xboxtrainers.net and lists it.
The script displays the trainers, the nfo's and it downloads\unzips\installs to a specified
trainerpath.

Install:
1. copy/ftp "EvoxT-Trainers" folder from "EvoxT-Trainers\xbmc\scripts\"
to your xbmc script dir ("q:\scripts\")
2. copy/ftp "evt_nfo.ttf" from "EvoxT-Trainers\xbmc\media\Fonts\" to
"q:\media\Fonts\"
3. copy/ftp "Font.xml" from "EvoxT-Trainers\xbmc\skins\<skinname>\PAL\"
to "q:\skins\<skinname>\PAL\". Maybe you want to rename the orig "Font.xml"
first (e.g. "Font.xml-orig")
4. Done!

(q:\ = XBMC homedir)

REQUIRED: XBMC-SVN_2007-04-29_rev8692-T3CH or later

NOTE: Step 2 & 3 are install steps for the nfo font. the script works without the font,
but without displaying nfo's.

It will never be approved on xbmcscripts using the current directory structure of the zip package, since the installer never unzips to Q:\ (we always unzip to Q:\scripts\ )

Maybe create an extras folder or something, then when your script is first run, move those files to their proper location (but then again, i am not very faund of messing with files outside the scriptsfolder..)

The best approach from my point of view is to make the script use all files from the Q:\scripts\EvoxT-Trainers\ instead.

The directory structure is a bit more intrusive than that blittan. To use this script it has you copying into the skin folder, media folder as well as the scripts folder...

I realize its a new offering but a few suggestions would be to learn from your scripting forefathers.

1. Strip it down, make it use as much of whats already in xbmc as possible (ex: loose the lucidia font and simply have it use arial or some other font already in xbmc)

2. Get with Nuka and the gents and modify it so the skin selection/information is internal to the script. As it stands if a person does a clean install they would be fumbling around for 5-10 minutes to get your offering working again.. Too much effort for too little result as once your trainers are installed the script wont be accessed again until the games content is updated or added to.

From a personal point of view... when this is streamlined a bit I look forward to it... makes it far simpler than searching the net hunting for a trainer for the games I have.

to the font prob:

i tried to make it as easy as it can be with an added font...

i have an idea for a new nfo part...with normal font...maybe it works, iŽll test it :)

thanks for the feedback so far

Let me know if you want a beta banger... I like finding glitches :)

shouldnt it work if you copied the font to Q:\media\fonts\ from the script on startup, then in the skin xml file supplied the filename for the font in the control using it?

Otherwise bug the devs to make a fallback for fonts ;)

Because with the current directory structure of the zip, it will never be approved on xbmcscripts.com

Better than messing with skinfiles etc.. *just my 2 cents*

Looks good!

Your next challenge is to add a Search button.
Also, if the script could check your games dir (eg. F/Games), get the xbe titles and then search for the correct trainers for the games, This would be very handy.

Boots... I just did the SVN sync and there is no skin data or subfolders... just the default root directory.

I don't really understand why these ridiculously small files are served as seperate downloads. Why doesn't that site offer a package? Wouldn't it be just 7 megs? I had to search a lot before finding a (quite incomplete) AIO package.. I have them all on my box and it doesn't cause any problems.
Don't get me wrong: It's nice that such a script exists, but couldn't it be so much easier?
