I recently upgraded to April 15th T3CH version of XBMC. I tried to watch a .bin movie which i had watched before with an older previous version of XBMC (Dont remember which one now...months ago), but there is no sound.

I am playing the movie over SMB. The video shows up, but no sound. If I play an .avi file....Everything is fine.

Is there a problem in the new release???

Here is the debug code....http://www.pastebin.ca/452272

Thanks

Still no sound in '.bin' movies!?!? Any ideas???

I just upgraded to XBMC-SVN_2007-05-20_rev9030-T3CH hoping that someone had figured out what is happening, but no luck.

Does anyone know what the problem is?? Or how to fix it?? - I'm guess no, otherwise it would have been fixed.

still no. if you feel like helping out, grab latest mplayer from mplayerhq (best if you compile yourself, but not a must). check if that plays the .bin file properly with sound. if it doesn't post a mail to their user mailing list explaining the issue. ( best you read up on their bug reporting standard before posting, otherwise you might end up getting flamed, they can be vey picky :) )

also report back here the result.

I'm running Ubuntu 7.04.....Have MPlayer 1.0rc1 installed on my system. The *.bin files play fine....sound/video, all in sync.

Hope that is what you were suggesting someone do!!!

right, just checked. all the interesting changes in the mpeg demuxer happened after rc1 came out. so if you could get the svn version of mplayer and build it, it'd be much more interesting.

The last T3CH build still doesnt play '.bin' files.....

I tried to compile the SVN version of MPlayer just now, but am not a linux pro. It compiled, but im not sure where to find the mplayer.dll file.

Does anyone have recent information on this issue???

still broken. you can't compile a mplayerhq binary, it's not built for the xbox. we have a special version.

but you can test with that version on linux, i bet it has same issue.

I think it might be working on my system.

I tried a *.bin file and it played fine, sound and everything.
Maybe that the bin file is just different from others, but it is a kvcd file.

No idea whats different. I'm using the latest mplayer.dll that elupus compiled with GCC 4.1.2.

This has been an issue for atleast 3 months. This worked in a Feb. revision but hasn't since. Anyways when playing a .bin .cue file file from the hdd or streaming for a networked computer the video plays fine but the audio does not get decoded. I tried the x+y debug thing and the memory is good but the audio says 0.0. Ive got a working revision and the audio portion of debug is constantly fluctuating. I just thought someone should know about this.
If there is anything i need to do please let me know. Thank you.

To stream from VLC the easiest is to use VLC's built in wizard. It'll walk you through the steps. If you do it manually you have a lot more options as far as streaming quality and codecs.

Once you've figured out how to set up VLC, just make a .m3u file or .strm file containing the http address and port that VLC is streaming from and save that file to your xbox somewhere. Then just open that file and the stream will come up on your xbox.

You can 'forward on' streams from the internet to the xbox either by using the Firefox plugin that allows you to paste the stream's url directly to the xbox. Or you can just use VLC.

Google for 'how to stream with VLC' and you'll find lots of guides.

what happens when you extract the .dat (video file) out of the bin, and try to play that?
Still no sound?

I had the same problem playing KVCD files. As suggested by nickolasj80 use some software to extract the .dat file from the KVCD and play that using XBMC and it will play fine.

I used some software called ISO buster
