The TV-flash "link" sites are popping up everywhere

www.tv-links.co.uk, www.peekvid.com, www.dailymotionepisodes.com, tv-links.co.uk, www.allfg.org and www.dailyepisodes.com

my favorite is peekvid.com.

as for TV Shows none of the site I saw are up-to-date... they they are at least a few episodes behind.

If you keep up with TV series then it is better to use torrents to keep current.

The only problem I can see with this, is that the episodes are in different formats. I just had to download "DivX web viewer" on my PC for Life on Mars.
These would have to be included in the script I assume?

There is an alternative... if I recall there is a plugin for firefox somewhere where you can submit a link and it dumps it to your xbmc as a stream so it plays it (not certain that is exactly what it does or how but you should get the jist of it). At any rate, it sowrked wonderfully for sites like youtube and the like.. give it a try and see what it does....

Only thing that needs to be done is to convert the different pages to an rss feed, with each video link in <enclosure> tags. Done it before for another site using php and Snoopy class - http://sourceforge.net/projects/snoopy/ .

Then you can just use a script like this on the xbox - http://www.matthewtuffin.co.uk/Blog/index.php?itemid=49 - (great script btw! use it daily.) to stream in the content via rss.

I'll take a swing at it when I have time... or any of you can just go ahead and try doing it using any free html to rss free service like these (yeah.. no scripting skills required whatsoever):

Well I just got my XBMC working and am also a huge lover of tv-links. I am thinking about looking into writing a script for this, but I have never used python (too bad there is no Ruby interpreter for XBMC :sniffle: ). I think I am going to give it a shot anyway though and see how it goes. I will be out of town for Million Man LAN for a few days, but I'll try and get a little something working as soon as I can... if I can.

I have used and currently use the xbmc fox but for some reason or another most of the links I send to my xbox don't seem to work. Actually I think I got one to work from Tv-links. That is why I was looking for a script for this site. I am trying to make one but I am having limited success getting the xml. with all of the show links.

I started work on a script for this last night, and I have come quite far.

Right now I have the TVLinks.co.uk site fully navigable, and support for playing any of the videos that are in divx(stage6) or flv(youtube, veoh, tudou, ect) whwich I think covers at least 80% of the videos from what I've seen.

All that I have left to do before my first release is to fix a few minor bugs and add support for the links that point to swfs, iframes, and similar.

Expect the release by the end of this coming week, probably within the next few days though.

glad to hear someone has made progress on this. I just spent a couple hours going thru the joox.net script and trying to see how hard it would be to modify for tv-links. The problem I ran into was finding the address for the videos on the hosted site. The tv-links urls are based on category/show/id type scheme but how does this relate to the external links? I'd be really interested if you could explain how you figured that out.

thanks

sh0stak
2007-06-29, 16:57
Nope... I really wish pvtschlag would at least come back to answer my question about resolving the external links. If I could get that done I don't think I would have to much trouble putting a script together myself. Can anyone else here figure out how tv-links indexes the hosted videos? I looked through the page source quite a bit but can't pull anything from it.

Well that is pretty nice but doesn't get me much further. I'm at work right now so I cant try this, but can anyone play a stream on their xbox using the following link - tv-links.co.uk/link.do/1/267/676/10744/18220 ? (as in make a text file with it and try and play the text file). If that works then this should be easy, but I am pretty sure I need the direct URL of the stream, not the tv-links URL, to get it to play.

mynumbistongue

sh0stak
2007-06-30, 00:45
well I had never heard of alluc so I might give it a shot and use it as a template for when I figure out the tv-links urls. There are some things tv-links has the alluc doesn't so this wouldnt be a complete solution

I have been letting my dad test this all week long.(he has watched nothing else but shows on it) I think I will go ahead and release what I got so far later tonight/early morning.

As far as the links go it is really hard to explain. I basically just made the script act the same way a browser would when it is used to view the site.

I did too reply, if you're talking about me, mynumbistongue. I just said I didn't know but would try it out.

I had a go at writing a scraper in PHP. Result:
http://roy.wigginsworld.org/tvlinks/
Once you're on an episode page, click the "Link" link for a link to the actual .flv or .divx (good for downloading!). I'll work on it so you don't have to click that last link, it shouldn't be necessary. There's no player implemented but that shouldn't be hard. Speaking of which, I would think that trying to stream from an offsite source would trigger cross-site loading restrictions in flash.

It's really relatively easy to do, I knocked my version up in a few hours. I used an http-browser class that lets you easily make requests and so on. The following regexp seemed to work for most:

/embed(.+?) src\="(.+?)"(.+?)>/

Youtube:

/flashvars\="config=\{videoFile: \'(.+?)\'/

(God, I hate regular expressions. Pretend the slashes are there and think of the parentheses as wildcards.)

I then retrieved the "Location" header information for that use-once url to get the location it redirects to. I think there's a firefox extension out there that sends a url to XBMC from firefox; you should be able to use the url my thing gets. A Python solution is obviously much much better as you can get stuff right with the xbox.

Once pvtschlag releases his I really have to network my xbox. It's sitting down in my basement a wall and a room away from the nearest Cat5.

BungaDunga
2007-06-30, 10:31
Fixed (can you edit posts?). It works for most episodes. One thing you can do is take the URL, paste it into VLC, and stream it with that. That way you can do deinterlacing and all that to make it look nicer than what you get with a flash player.

Please note that it still doesn't support playback for all of the videos yet.

Also I am VERY new to python and coding for xbmc so the GUI isn't the best.
If anybody wants to help out by coding that part to make it look better for everyone then please do it.

I am using rev8582 T3CH build, I do not know if or how well it will run on any others.

Hope the shows you want to watch are the ones working so far. >.<

Bunga thanks for scraping those links. I use the xbmcfox and it works good, your scarpings saves alot of time from click, click, click, click.... LOL. I have been watching most of my shows and movies from stage6 using xbmcfox, it is a process for getting the actual video link but works for me. Your scrapings will surely help me out.

wow, man nice job! I was just working on a set of PHP scripts using Snoopy, HtmlParser, RssGenerator, to do data mining and rip all links in order to generate a RSS feed from everything available at www.tv-links.co.uk
The plan was to feed this TVa-Links-RSS feed into a RSS Video player script running on my XBMC. I was just done finding a way to bypass that hashed 'once' links stuff.

Anyway: the approach to do this all from within a Python plugin running on the Xbox XBMC is mucho better. I just never tried Python. I like to help though.

My first test results: I am much intreste din watching the Lost TV Shows. Most files are hosted at Brightcove. Just try to play Episode 1 - Pilot Part 1 - http://www.tv-links.co.uk/link.do/1/53/5636/42181/62937

This shows a perfect example of ways to add support for new sites if you want to help out with this script.

If you still want to help out but don't know enough about coding to add support for more sites, I could use a list of non-working sites and possible links to their tvlinks url. If anyone is up to the task.

Hope you guys are enjoying it so far.

Just for your information, if you upgrade to one of the latest builds of XBMC
most of the links in this script will work. When I realized I was using one of the older builds about 85% of the links did not work, but now since I upgraded most all are working like a charm. Does anyone know of a way to make this script cache more of the video before it starts playing, my goal is to reduce the amount of buffering.

FTp the files inside the ZIP file to your XBOX.

put them in your Scripts folder which is inside th XBMC Dir

I think it is normaly

e:/apps/xbmc/scripts/ <This is where you put the tv links files/folder>

It might be in C:/xbmc/scripts

Depends on where you put the xbmc.

make sure you are using a up2date version of XBMC so it works.

Ok the directories aka. Folders they are talking about is on the xbox not on your pc. First of all is your xbox modded? Second if you are modded are you running XBMC? Third if all of the above is true you need an ftp program to get access to the xbox hard drive. I use Smartftp (search google).

Answer the above questions and I will try to help as much as I can.

Also if you are indeed modded you will need the IP address of your xbox. this will be needed for the FTP program to connect to your xbox.

pvtschlag you did an awesome job on this script. I think I can speak for everybody when I say THANK YOU SO MUCH! This is a much needed addition to XBMC. You mentioned that the dailymotion content is frequently removed, which is why it does not work much of the time and you also said to go to the website and try it from there, as it will not work even from the website. Well, I did not find this to be true. For instance, when I try to access the Ying Yang Twins music video "Say I Yi Yi" via your awesome script, it attempts to connect to dailymotion website but does not load the video. However, when I try to access the video directly from the tv-links.co.uk website, it plays fine. This is just one example, I ran across many others that did the same thing. There are 5 or 6 Ying Yang Twins music videos that do that alone. Here is the direct link on the tv-links.co.uk website so you can test it yourself: http://www.tv-links.co.uk/show.do/5/3043

Believe me, I am not bitching about ANYTHING, I am just trying to help you make your script better. If you do not pursue this issue, I will not be disappointed at all. THANKS SO MUCH again!

Don´t want to bsound bitchy but... please upgrade to latest XBMC build before reporting bugs, and always mention the build you´re running. As everyone must know there are all kinds of problems with flv playing on earlier builds, and a lot of the problems reported here sound they could be just that.

This would make it sooo much easier to test/debug.

Thanks again for the great script.

Hey guys,
I changed pvtschlag's great script a bit, so it now matches the design of Project Mayhem III slightly better. I also added code to make the Player show the name of the show in the playback info (If you press "Info" on the remote during playback or in the small thumbnail view in the lower left corner during playback). The graphics are borrowed from the Joox.net script.

You can find it here:
http://theendofthelongestline.de/TVLinksProjectMayhem.zip

Hope you're okay with this, pvtschlag, as you don't mention any license in your scripts.... If not, send me a PM.

I also just registered for the sole purpose of thanking you for this script. I had a blast last night searching through all of the shows. My build of XMBC is a bit old (June something I believe), but I was also having the daily motion problems mentioned. I also had difficulty navigating back through the menus once I had drilled down through a show.

Thanks again for all your work. I'm about to start a Python scripting job, so after I pick up the basics I may try my hand at some scripts.

Maybe you have a buggy or old build of XBMC. The code I changed for displaying the show title during playback maybe influences the way XBMC plays the movie. Instead of telling XBMC directly to play a specific URL, my script stores the URL with the title information in a playlist and tells XBMC to play the playlist.
In case you have difficulties getting other video playback scripts to work, try changing it in the following way:
open default.py in an editor, search for something like:

xbmc.Player(xbmc.PLAYER_CORE_MPLAYER).play(vidlink )

and replace it with:

play=xbmc.PlayList(xbmc.PLAYLIST_VIDEO)
play.clear()
play.add(vidlink,"Name of the show here")
xbmc.Player(xbmc.PLAYER_CORE_MPLAYER).play(play)

I just uploaded my release for one user that had problems. If it turns out to be working for him I could imagine sharing it with others.

First. Thanks for getting this script out!
First thing I thought of when I hear about the tv-link.co.uk was "Ok.. now I gotta see if there is a XBMC script for it."

I installed the (newest? i hope) gas giver XBMC last night (as the script didn't work on my 12/06 release of t3ch) and it did work, but I noticed that some of the shows (Scrubs, in my case) work fine, but then they all started acting strange. (The video was in fast forward, but the audio was normal) Other videos didn't do this. I am perfectly happy with the fact that the script works and I can still watch other stuff (hell I even watched an episode of Duck Tales.. yes I'm old)

Anyways, I saw other people say the audio was off with the video. Anyone else experiencing the 'fast forward' effect on any of their videos?

i am not having these problems... try the latest regular t3ch unstable release instead of the gasgiver.... i am not sure what you mean by "fast forward" is it literally in fast forward or is it just out of synch with the audio by a second or two? if the latter is the case, you can fix the synching problem by accessing the menu during a video and changing the audio delay settings....

kain9i6

It really is in a fast forward state..

The audio starts, then the video just takes off and if left unchecked will end before about a quarter of the episode is over. Looks like it's in about 4x fast forward state. What is the release date of the latest t3ch. I did like that release.

Also, on a side note.. when streaming 'locks up' (sometimes when I try to watch a video it will sit at the "caching" screen and the xbox will seem to lock up, where as I can hear the clicking of everything and i can press cancel and it will sit and say cancelling, but nothing else happens. is there any way to not have that happen, or maybe a combination of buttons on the remote that I can press to do the reset, rather than having to get up and press the power button? Just curious.

I'd also like to add my appreciation. I was already amazed at XBMC (being quite new to it), but this opens it up on a whole new level! Here I went and put a 250GB hard drive in, and I'm barely using it now! :D

There was a mention on Page 8 (I think it was) about videos suddenly stopping after a few minutes, which is something I've experienced. Is it because the videos are hosted on Veoh as mentioned in the previous posts? Actually, let me find those posts and put them here for clarification...

For me the script plays a few minutes of the video and then stops. Does anyone have an idea why this is happening? I have the newest build thats available.

I got that too with veoh streams.

Is this the case, then? It's to do with the Veoh streams? I couldn't find any more mention of this happening. If so, is there anything I can do to try and avoid the problem, or is there a way to tell where the video is hosted before starting to watch? Any advice would be great, but it's not a big deal. (I've got the latest versions of XBMC and the TV Links script, by the way)

Thanks again for an excellent script. It's made me very happy

To find the real url of the media, I use FireFox with a plugin called Live HTTP Headers.

what you do is you open up firefox, Tools > Live HTTP headers. then you play the media that you want the url of. Live HTTP should then give you a list. You then look for a link that has the media type ex (.flv if your playing a flash video)

hey guys this is a copy/paste directly from the tv-links site and apparently they have just updated the site with new additions and changes. unfortunately, for us who use the current tv-links script, this might affect the script and can render it non-working. i noticed this today when i was watching my shows this morning and then when i got back to it a couple of hours ago, the list and texts wouldn't appear on my xbox. ??? i thought it was just a connection issue but apparently the update did something to it. im not sure if it was just me so i hope u guys can check yours and repost.

The problem is that the script doesn't download the alphabetical list of programs for most sections. At this stage with the latest version of the script only music videos and anime get populated with the list. All other sections (programs, documentaries, movies, etc) give me a short glance at the loading screen and then a blank page.

Has anyone encountered this before and know of a fix? I'd love to run this script in it's full glory.

Cheers and thanks to pvtschlag for your efforts!

Ive a strange problem with this script which I think is absolutely excellent - Im on the very latest T3CH Build and the lastest script but I cannot get anything which is on tvlinks.co.uk to work. others like google video and many other clips work fine

If its from tvlink.co.uk i get the demux open box and it looks like it starting to download but then it stops...

Ive tried tinkering with the cache size but it hasnt helped. Any pointers or suggestions

If i can get this to work i can throw sky out of my house!!!

i get the best results with the "Internet" cache at max (16384kb)... i leave everything else as default and get less buffering interuptions during streams...

good call on the cache settings, they seem to be woking like a charm

firstly excellent script very usufull i to have had the problems with the video dropping out randomly mainly on google video and veoh though, the thing with veoh is because of people linking to there videos and not signing up they made it so there is a preview link and a normal one the normal one you access by being logged in i no as i use veoh on my pc is there a way of adding a log in box or something in the settings that would enable me to put my log in details in ?.

a lot of the other problems freezing not bringing lists up etc when i upgraded xbmc

...the thing with veoh is because of people linking to there videos and not signing up they made it so there is a preview link and a normal one the normal one you access by being logged in...

Ah. That sounds like it could be the problem then, eh? Veoh is only sending a preview, rather than the full thing. Perhaps there's a way to either log into Veoh from XBMC as Demogorgan says (maybe even automatically when the script starts? Sorry if this is a tall order or utterly impractical/impossible. I know precisely nothing about programming ), or either pull up info on the video first so we know where it's streaming from before beginning to watch. At least that way we'd know if it's a preview and likely to get cut off.
I wonder if logging into Veoh from the PC and staying logged in will prompt Veoh to send the full video to XBMC? Is that how it works (sorry - bit of a dunce when it comes to all this stuff :) )?
Still, this is one step closer to figuring out the problem, so thanks for mentioning it, Demogorgan.
Does anyone know if there are any other sites that work this way (with the preview thing for non-members)?

when you click on the link you can look at where it is caching the video from and it will say preview sometimes can be lucky and it will play the whole thing othertimes not lol as for the logging in part i think it has something to do with the ip address so if there was a browser on xbmc could try it that way see if that works ? i dont no that much about the xbmc am still learning at the moment

Hey,
I just updated my version of pvtschlag's fine script. It is edited to match the Project Mayhem III skin. I also changed a few lines so that some media, Stage6 Divx for example, is playable again - TVLinks seems to have changed their URL scheme. The veoh URLs are still the same though. Some of them keep being preview links and randomly stop during streaming.
You can find it here: http://theendofthelongestline.de/tvlinks.zip

Here is an updated version that can also download the selected episode to the XBox hdd. Just press the "INFO" button on your remote. This is especially useful for slow video hosters like toudou.com and others. Have fun!

Edit the default.py and find the line:

if action == ACTION_SHOW_INFO:

and change ACTION_SHOW_INFO to any of:

ACTION_MOVE_LEFT
ACTION_MOVE_RIGHT
ACTION_MOVE_UP

I think I found a better solution:

Within the first lines with all the ACTION_... constants definitions, add the following:
ACTION_CONTEXT_MENU = 117
and replace
if action == ACTION_SHOW_INFO:
with if ((action == ACTION_SHOW_INFO) or (action == ACTION_CONTEXT_MENU)):
After this, you can press the A button to stream and the white button to download media (on the pad). If you use the remote, the Enter button plays media and the info button downloads it.

BTW: I experienced that if you download FLV files and later play them using the file manager or video browser, XBMC automatically chooses the DVDPlayer core, not the MPlayer one. This seems to be a good choice, because fast forwarding and other stuff works better with this core in the version of XBMC I'm using. Could anyone try this? I would make the other player core the default in the script then.
To the scripters: I would like to create a context menu to offer more complex operations and settings for videos. I'm thinking of a context menu like for example the one that shows if you press info/white button on a game in the programs browser. I found this in other scripts like the youtube one, but it all seemed to involve this guibuilder xml stuff, which i'd like to stay away from for now. Anyone got an idea on how to solve this task?

Nuka1195
2007-08-05, 14:28
GUIBuilder was useful in it's time. You should really use WindowXML.

Apple Movie Trailers is a good example :) with context menu.

If you want to see how easy using windowXML, grab the changelog script from SVN. It's a very simple script. As this script get's more popular it would be a good choice to allow skinners to support it. Better to start now, before you add too much more to the script.

http://xbmc-scripting.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/XBMC%20Changelog

Edit: AMT also has an example of using the different cores (DVDPlayer and MPlayer) based on the trailer type.

It's not that hard to add differenct cores based on the file type. What I'm interested in is what player core works best for you with the media available at TVLinks, especially FLVs.

Hey pvtschlag and Unbehagen,

I think you two need to team up on these
I am also interested in helping out if you guys wouldn't mind.
I am interested for this to follow AMT's footsteps and move over
to a database and enable Search and also so it can store the information
so everytime the script is loaded, it won't have to fetch all the data.
I also would like to add in a Favourites option,
and move it over to winxml and make it look SLEXY!

Also, we would need to move over to a SVN, i nominate:
http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-scripting/

Then we can each keep uptodate with each other :-D
Im no good at URL parsing etc, but anything else i can usually do.

Also, we then could add in a self updating feature like Xbmc lyrics and XinBox.

What ya's think?

Cheers,

I'm up for another option. I'm not very satisfied with the look and feel of media streaming scripts in XBMC. I'm also not so much into writing XML with an editor myself. Because of that laziness, I contacted the devs to have those scripts integrated as some kind of plugin into the videos screen of XBMC, look here for more information on that: http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27760. Starting something like what you proposed would only be my second option.

SVN access would be great, but only if we can reach pvtschlag. Otherwise I would start recoding the script to not have license issues. I just don't yet know how pvtschlag feels about my releases.

Also, we then could add in a self updating feature like Xbmc lyrics and

Yes, maxbe later...

Well, most channels are dutch. However, you could just delete the dutch ones and use it for Joox.net and tvlinks. Just delete the other channels in the \channels\ folder. You could also add a . in front of the folder names, that way they will be ignored.

This could be related to a bug that is fixed now, it was present in the most recent t3ch, and can be fixed by updating the mplayer.dll file.

Could be something else though.

It is nopt XBMC or the scripts but prob your internet connection. Maybe it is too slow to the big files ( most are about 350MB in size) but if it is not that maybe your ISP limits downloads from the site (If this can be done)

I have no problems but i know my ISP limits me on torrents and p2p... they just do not know about stage6.

That is all i can think off. I have no problems with my cache and leave it as default or someties take it higher but not much.

I hit two problems using the tv-links script.

(I'm about to give the dutch one a try too and will report back asap ;) )

The first problem I hit with the tv-links script was it wouldn't start up.

I took a look at the python script log thingy on the xbox and traced the error to a problem with two instances of 'focuscolor=' or something like that - presumably designed to change the font colour when certain options were selected.

I simply deleted these as it didn't seem to recognise the variable (anyone any idea what's going on? why that's the case?)

Anyway after those two changes it loads up ok. Judging what I'm looking at is a bit difficult because I've taken out the font colour changing presumably. Script looks great. It downloads the directories and everything perfectly.

Now to stream.

I navigate to something I'm sure works because I watched it earlier on in the day.

I selected it.

Up comes the 'connecting' box....

sit awaiting something happening....and nothing does.

I've had this problem with a few streaming scripts these days.

Anyone got any clue what could be going wrong on both counts?

Turns out it's XBMC Build 2.0.1 (Compiled Nov 12 2006) with Mplayer from Sept 24th 2006.

How painful is upgrading?...What settings will I lose?

As for links I tried

I know the link works as it plays fine on my laptop.

Strangely I've been having problems with quite a bit of streaming lately. The joox script hasn't been working. google videos hasn't been working too good either. And now tv links.....

Lets just hope the script works after it because it looks absolutely breathtakingly awesome (If it does I'm buying two new Xboxs in the next couple of days so that I can have one for every TV set in the house).

In case anyone is in the same situation upgrading is as simple as: backing up the 'UserData' file then overwriting the old version of XBMC with the new and finally overwriting the UserData file in the new version with your original.....I think. If not we'll find out soon ;)

Hey guys,

Looks like my upgrade went well. Although my favourate skin MC360 isn't showing any text (...font settings wrong somehow? or do I need to tweak something?)

I've switched to the original version of the script (rather than the one I modified).

It's still not streaming although the behavior has changed a bit. Now what happens is I'm getting a quick progression of dialogue boxes, where (I think) it finds the given link and attempts to connect.

No caching appears to occur and not a lot happens after that. I'm testing the same links with my laptop and they're wroking fine....thoughts on what's up?

Oh also tested the dutch script it also looks very polished (but won't exit and isn't succeeding in streaming either)

Thanks for all your help guys ;)

Alright guys...I still have the same problem as mentioned here previously: Most pages just stay blank.

My question to the people that got the script working:

What XBMC build are YOU using???

Thanks heaps!

I still have the same problem as mentioned here previously: Most pages just stay blank.

I tried most of the current builds, like GasGiver, T3CH, self-compiled, etc. All of them worked. Maybe you have a slow/laggy connection to Tv-links? Or you don't have the latest TVLinks version? Try to install it via XBMCScripts.com installer. You should find version 1.01u(nbehagen) of the script there.
Do you use a proxy server? Users using proxy servers reported problems. URLLib/Python/TVLinks script just won't use your proxy. Maybe you have some very strange kind of firewall that filters sites via keywords? Please tell us if you checked all of those points. If none of that works, please post the python script log (available if you press white button in the scripts browser), take a screenshot and upload it somewhere and post the link here. If there are multiple pages, please take a screenshot for every page.
If you have a bit of experience with python, you can add your own print statements in getEps and similar methods to see where the problem is.

Some files are of low quality and have bad sound, others are good quality...

Also, the t3CH build from a week or two ago had a bug that cause cracks and pops in some avi audio files.... if you didn't already update to the latest.

ANy updates on this script?

I have a problem with some videos just cutting out after 20mins+

I also downloaded one episode of Farscape (Season one DNA episode) and it only downloads 25mb

I checked and it is all on there... It looks liek the links are sort of preview links... can this be fixed?

I am using the new version of tv-links and new version of xbmc

I have problems with episodes suddenly cutting off at random parts. I have to load it again, and patiently try to forward to the part that it cut off and continue from there. I reckon it happens about 80% of the time.

I think a lot of us are getting this problem.
Only seems to be certain sites though, like Veoh and myspace. Someone mentioned earlier that unless you are logged into Veoh, you can only watch the previews, maybe some of the other sites are the same...?
It is quite annoying, and apart from a few links not playing, is the only thing keeping this from perfection.

Whoever is working on this these days, best of luck.

the veoh preview thing is only for some videos that are 40mins or more, they require you to download it and they only stream teh first 5 minutes of the video on the site

Is there a way to logn to the site using the script so we can get the full show.

I have done some digging around an seen that it is not the videos but the Veoh website. Any videos over 40mins only play the first 5mins. The only way around it is to use the veoh downloader but that only works on Windows.

So is there a way to make the site think XBMC with TV-Links is the downloader?

Without this it will never happen.... It sucks as I do not own a Windows computer all mine are Linux (DSL-N and Ub)

Not sure if it can be done sadly but I guess you guys are the ones to ask.

hassan
2007-08-27, 03:14
that isn't the main reason it stops though, I mean, it does the same thing on other videos hosted on tudou as well.

When i said you have to download the video, I meant download it using the veoh downloader on windows.

People interested in TVLinks and Joox should have a look at the new python plugin folder feature in the latest T3CH svn. With this, you can browse TVLinks, Joox and Apple Movie Trailers as if they were on your HDD, from the normal video browser, not the scripts GUI. Watch this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7M-MK3FnKOk
After showing XBMC's XORed trainer engine feature, it shows the TVLinks and AMT plugins.
Get the plugins from this thread:

Did you watch the youtube video posted above? The plugin provides the same possibilties as the TVLinks script, but it is accessible from the VIDEO screen, not the SCRIPTS screen. You can browse it like a hard disk, lastFM or Shoutcast.
With a video on hdd or samba share, you would browse to the share, the folder and select the video you want to play. With the plugin you would select TVLinks, TV Shows, Arrested Development, Season 1, Episode 1 and it plays the video. Clear enough or is there still a part of this that you don't understand?

A little help would be greatly appreciated :)
So far I have installed TV-Links via ftp as well as using the built in installer (currently using the newest t3ch build for XBMC)
Finally managed to get the .py to load up for TV-Links but I am now getting these errors

Error
Error creating buttons
'FocusedColor' is an invalid keyword argument for this function

and

Error
Error initializing script
reason: list index out of range

Then the gui's bg will load but has no menus or images, the small TV-Links logo in the upper left corner and the word "test" next to that. Menu will of course take me back to the main menu with no further errors.
I have checked the wiki and have found nothing on this issue and I haven't found anything in the forum search on a list of tvlink.py errors and corrections (if there is such a beast)

additional info on the Xbox itself:
I am currently using the Unleash-X dashboard with a soft modded unit. version 0.39.022a build 572

Grab any editor, such as notepad.exe on windows, open default.py, do a search and replace (Ctrl-H) and let it replace all occurances of FocusedColor to focusedColor. Save the document, re-upload it.

I have pasted the block of code that it is within below. I do greatly appreciate the help with this problem :)

As far as I know, Joox and TVLinks don't provide individual icons for shows and movies themselves. It might be possible to achieve this with the plugins instead of the scripts. Because you browse TVLinks as if it was a folder, you can do all the things with it that would be possible with a folder, such as changing the folder icon and even the scrapers worked for me last time I tried.

You can try removing the whole focusedColor keyword:

btn = xbmcgui.ControlButton(25, (130)+27*i, (247)-((100))+20, 27, self.Cats[i],textXOffset=30, textColor='0xFFAAAAAA',focusedColor='0xFFFFFFFF')

Maybe this works for you? Strange though that it works for thousands of users and on your box it just doesn't know about that keyword. Did you really make sure you have the latest T3CH SVN compile? We're not talking about the STABLE release here...

Hi. Sorry if this is the wrong thread, but I guess it's kinda related. Anyway, here's my question about using TV Links and the other stuff as plugins, rather than scripts (which is working great for me, and looks great being integrated into the XBMC system more closely).

Will the plugins/listings still update themselves, since there's no longer an option to do this manually using the white button (refreshing the genre on Apple Movie Trailers, for instance)?

Great work, by the way. It's really appreciated.

The programmer can decide this. For AMT, it makes more sense to put the update functionality into the script rather than the plugin, because it would take too long to do this every time the user accesses a folder or the base folder. For TVLinks and Joox: Yes, every list you see is generated on the fly from the web pages, which should be no problem for users having an internet connection fast enough to stream videos.
