I am using one of the January-builts of XBMC and everything works pretty well for me. Thanks again for this great effort!!!

I have just bought an original Microsoft remote control in the United States (DVD kit). I have put the receiver in the first controller port and added batteries to the remote. Unfortunately, none of the buttons of the remote leads to a reaction of the XBMC? Any idea why?

Any help is highly appreciated!!!

IMHO - remote less sensitive (sorry for bad english) - and works on wery slim zone by horisontal and vertical. And one more else - press buttons shortest time - if u target in visibility zone it getting sharp sensitive.

Sorry for being so brief in my initial post. Let me clarify. I have a European XBOX and my remote comes from the US. Due to ship and XBMC, I thought that this wouldn't matter. Does anyone know whether there is anything in this matter which I need to keep in mind? Is there any setting in which I can set the remote to be active/present in XBMC?

Any help is highly appreciated. Best regards!!!

1) Does your remote work at all, with the orig dashboard/dvd player for example?

2) I know there is some "remote" debugger, which shows each keypress, then you can make your own keymap (if keys show to be different).
Search for this on this forum.

Regards H2Deetoo,

ad 1) Unfortunately, I don't know and I don't have access to another xbox to try out. I believe that it works as I bought it brand-new, but of course you never know. (and before someone asks: yes, I put new batteries in already :-) Any idea how I can figure out whether there is any connection between remote and receiver?

ad 2) Will do. Thanks.

look up advancedsettings.xml in the wiki manual in there are a list of functions you can add including "show remote codes" so you can see if xbmc is even reading anything from your remote.

yes gzusrawx, thats what I meant with 2).

About trying with the original dashboard, you can simply run the orig dash when booting your xbox without modchip (press button very short), or perhaps starting the orig dash from the bootmenu.

Thanks to both of you for the kind help. Unfortunately, my remote works neither with the original dash nor does xbmc indicate any pressed keys after changing the advanced settings.

Does this mean that my remote is broken? Is there a way to find out whether this is because of the remote control or because of the receiver. If it is the remote, I could buy a universal remote to fix.

Any further help is highly appreciated!!!

Please apologize for not answering before. Maybe "solved" was the wrong word. I tried the same remote (my remote) with another receiver token (borrowed from a friend) and it worked. So I believe that the receiver (the hardware piece) is broken.
