INTRODUCTION:
I had this skin in mockups for a couple years (For those that remember my old skin poll late 2004!), but I had no idea how to do any xml, so it never got made. Recently Jedi79 came in & said he would do nearly all the xml work, so this skin began on October 16th, 2006. I'm doing the graphics and xml. I'm also getting XML help from "Xbox-Classic creator Jezz_X" "the clark kent of scripting Donno", "smokemaniac aka Smokehead" and "kthxnpbrbbbqananicoleih8mormonsnotfunnyihadafriend thatdesignedaskinmattaarongetajob jedi79" ... Now in the first screenshot... See that backround? Thats where this skin all started... that image was designed as a teaser for Windows Longhorn... The entire skin idea came from this image. I thought the backround was the most amazing design ive seen. So I wanted to implement a samiliar style... Sleek glass with blue streaks... And thats how I came up with what you see now.
THEME 1: Blue Streak (Default) EVERYTHING you see in all screenshots are possible and work in the current build. Some of these are in-xbmc screenshots, and the ones that aren't still give you an idea of the direction im heading.

THEME 2: Titanium Based off a skin I had in mind a couple years ago, I always wanted a smoke/black/chrome type of style. This mockup shows what to expect.

THEME 3: Project Mayhem Three What can I say, Project Mayhem 3! I think Choke is by far the best graphic artist here in the xbmc scene. Shame he had to retire! Anyway, I'll add key features from my skin to this PM3 Theme... Modified home, extra features such as the Hidden Sidebar, 'Show Current Folder Image, Movie Poster view, etc

THEME 4: Vista Ultimate Inspired by gorgous Vista. Will make more use of transparencies, glowing streaks, vista icons, and the vista sidebar. Just a concept theme for now, I won't be using any Microsoft Vista images, i'll design all my own to avoid any problems

THEMES 5,6,7,8 and more I'll be releasing other themes with the skin... Virtue, White Elegance, 360, Comic, & more... All will take advantage of the standard layout I have (Hidden Sidebar, Top bar showing folder's jpg, DVD Poster View, etc)
FEATURES: Most these idea's/features are currently part of the skin...(Click the underline for SCREENSHOTS of the feature):
Show Current Folder.jpg: Screenshot (http://pics.apartment808.com/users/NineT9mustang/Folder3.png) A lot of this skin was based around my Wide Icons idea in mind... Since my first few mockups, I always wanted the ability to SHOW the Wide Icon of the folder your in... This has officially & finally been added to xbmc today! So whenever your in any folder that contains a Wide Icon it will display that wide icon on the top of the screen. When your in TV Shows, it will show the folder of the TV Show your in... If your in NINTENDO it will show the Nintendo Wide Icon, etc... I think this is one of the most exciting things about this skin!!
Slider: Screenshot (http://www.supload.us/free/BlueStreak5.png/view/) Already implemented into the skin. Very samiliar to Vista's sidebar, My goal here is to place Time/Date, Weather, Scripts, etc. With the ability to remove specific items.
Control Panel: I always felt a skin should have 1 control panel at the top. This would include the VideoPreview, Folder.jpg, Playlist info, etc... I just feel it'd make things easier and more organized. Potentially giving it a 'faceplate' feel with users being able to change the top panel like a cd-player faceplate. So users can create their own, and you can change it how you want. Another option is to keep this hidden until used (When media is playing or such).
New View (Music): Screenshot (http://www.supload.us/free/Music.png/view/) Nothing fancy, just an alternative way of viewing albums. Hopefully we can get a small visualization to play next to album art.
New View (DVD Posters): Screenshot (http://www.supload.us/free/BlueStreak4-20070220100920.png/view/) This is what I wanted from the original concept drawings of the skin. I have already made 1,000+ DVD Posters, to be released with beta
Custom Icons: I'll be making icons specifically made to match the skin. Gotta have my Wide Icons! I'll be making every Wide Icon for every single xbox game/application/homebrew game & emulator... to be released with final
Custom Sounds: For now this is not possible, I think it would be beneficial to a lot of skins if we can assign sounds to specific controls. I'm hoping this will get added at some point!
Video & Game Trailers: Screenshot (http://pics.apartment808.com/users/NineT9mustang/Trailer.png) For now this is not possible, but hundreds of users have wanted this in xbmc... and I suuuuuuuure hope this screenshots shows its potential and maybe one day this will get added... <3 jm
PHASES:
1) Concept: Design the layout, come up with some mockups, design most the graphics.
2) Beta-1: Start the xml, see what features of the skin are possible with xbmc, what aren't & get a working skin.
3) Feedback: Once I have a working skin, give users screenshots/trailers/get feedback <-Where I am at now
4) Beta-2: Decide the best feedback, implement it, & release a beta to everyone.
5) Final: After we have all used it, found what we liked/disliked... ALL graphics will be redone, bugs cleaned, more wishes implemented, then final release
This skin will partially be made by you guys. We can all agree that those Vista skins, PSP/PS3 skins, Kaleidascope, mc360 & xTV are absoutly gorgous skins and visually stunning, but unlike them this is not a replica and we don't have layout guidelines we have to follow to match a certain way. This skin could look how we want and take advantage of all xbmc has to offer. What you see now will not be what you see in the final. It will only get better, This skin will change as most feedback is implemented. So, let's hear your feedback!!!

This is looking incredible!!
However, I think most feedback will start coming your way once people get a hands-on feel for it. Right now, I'm just pretty much in awe of the graphics, so that won't give you any idea of what to change/improve.
Other feedback (ie. on things that look good, but unfortunately aren't user-friendly, or things that just look out of place) would have to be based on what I encounter while using it...
And that's just a lot of fancy talk for saying: gimme!!!

Thanks for the feedback guys, didn't think about it, but your absolutly right, best feedback would be hands-on experience :D Guess the feedback I was expecting from screenshots is "wth are you thinking, that backround image is ugly", "hate that chrome button", "too much blue", etc... but it seems you guys are satisfied with the graphics, so ...
I'll try getting a beta out asap :)

But i think, i won't do that case mod again, because it was really hard to complete everything.. And also i couldn't use XBMC for approx. 4-5 weeks during the case-mod install. THAT WAS HARD! :;):

Great skin I love it!
one thing that would be cool is to have a wrap around list for items (ie: videos)
when you get to the bottom, one click down should take you back to the top.

so, i've played around with this skin and now i'm a fan of it.
some ideas (just brainstorming...)
home:
- i don't know where to put it, but there should be a clock in home.
perhaps it could be possible to ad a clock in the middle of the chrome circle.
on the other side it would disturb the images of the album-covers.
- while playing music, the vis is playing in top. very nice thing with these
alpha-overlay. would it be possible to ad images, when nothing is playing?
in a way like the other skins have...
- when nothing is playing and you push down (to get the settings etc), it appears a "thing" over the controller? is it a bug? it looks so strange....
music-playback-fullscreeen-vis:
-when the info shows up, the right info tag seems to be wrong.
while playing music with "party-mode" it shows "decreasing" instead of "party-mode".
-would it be possible to ad a music-info button in the menu?
movie playback:
when pressing pause or the info button: wouldn't it be nice to get a cover and the movie infos? (again in a way like the other skins have)
thats it by now. i think, that the gould old pdm-skin will leave my xbmc and this one will be the new No. 1.

... one other thing: the "multiple feature" in the shutdown menu is missing.
most other skins support a shutdown-timer by pressing "up" or "down" on the shutdown-button....

i've modded the videofullscreen.xml. (grabbed code from PDM-skin and VISION)
if you press pause or info on your remote you'll get these infos, cover, and dvd-background.
if you like it, i will upload the file.

Where would I put the code?
It's a great skin, but is there a way to change the submenu in swedish?
In 16:9 it works better, but I run 4:3.
The text that in english for some wierd reason reads "scripts" reads "inställningar -> skript" in swedish ("settings -> scripts"). Would be great to change it to just "skript" so the menu don't fuck up like in the picture below.

I have GasGivers latest build, but I dunno if there's any difference to T3CH's in this specific case.

Some text will be just a little bit too big for its framing or what have you, i.e. in 'Weather', but I can live with that. Mind you that this came out of my PAL16x9 folder. That's what I'm running.
If you want to check out what text changes with what font-code, just change the size to something really big or small and reload skin.

Is there any way of getting RSS feeds still to run when music is playing?
At present it disables somehow - could this because of the visualisation in the background?
Is there any quick change to the xml to enable the RSS to continue scrolling when music is playing. I've had a little mess around with home.xml to move the RSS to the top of the screen but not been able to keep it when musis starts

Donabi, sweet lil mod! I tested it out and enjoy it a lot :) Although your posters look distorted, you might wanna increase your cache in advancesettings.xml
Anyway, I just wanted to catch up here... For those wondering about themes, I will be starting them real soon here :) What held me back before was some updates that needed to be done on home, and jezz_x had just finished them... so im pretty excited to start working on themes :)

I noticed that long notification text overflows from the notification window.
You should probably clip it or turn them into fade labels.

hey how do you play a DvD when loaded!?
I can't seem to play a movie dvd:/
the same applies to the Project Gotham 3
I can only load the DvD on MC360
Do I have to turn on: auto play Dvd!?

if you mean the dvd menu button in the OSD I just added it
it does matter now
I just have to press the white button on the Play DvD under the Video Section
But on the main menu. When you don't load anything, the orb is black. When a user inserts a cd, the blackorb should show an image or sign. So when the user clicks on the black orb, it loads the DvD.
Also when a user is listening to an album, the album image suppose to show on the black orb, instead of the cd image:/
I saw someone playing a music and the image did show..how da hell did he do that:/

Thanks for adding the OSD DVD menu button. It works great. Now I'm back to Vision skin.
Is it possible to add feature to show the resolution (zoom, stretch 14x9, 16x9, 720p, 1080i) on the screen when we hit the zoom button? I think the info is useful, and it exists on other skins.

Well since this is my current primary skin I should help with the feedback...
This is all tested in NTSC
1. Notification Dialog labels not clipping right in NTSC.. (dialogkaitoast.xml)
2. Video Info dialog (black button) only shows the first 2 lines not 3 lines (bug is an extra <visible>no</visible> in VideoFullScreen.xml)
3. In Home.xml I think you should use
<onclick>XBMC.ActivateWindow(1,Apps)</onclick>
instead of
<onclick>XBMC.ActivateWindow(1,Programs)</onclick>
Since that is more common.
4. Consider the new Favorites dialog that JM added a few days ago.

a few queries,
1) how do you make it so that when you get to the bottom of your list of movies and press down it will go back to the top?
2) is there any way to get rid of the back button altogehter? i mean the one with arrow that is at the start of your lists
3) my xbox crashed when trying to load the apple trailers script. i had never tried it before and dont think this has anything to do with the skin anyway :eek:
i have changed the size of the text following the guidelines earlier in this thread as it is defn too small in 16x9..

Now here are some things to try out while using Project Vision 3 Theme
*Play a video in the background of both HOME & while BROWSING

*Startup Playlist was recently added so don't forget to look at that, via Skin Settings

Nice, but uh.. I downloaded the latest build of T3CHs XBMC (17-06-07) and got a clean installation of this build of your skin, but now there's no visible text or clock in the middle. No matter what menu I choose there's no visible text.
Something that doesn't click with XBMC, or some bug in the skin?
Hm, seems to be an issue with T3CHs build, more skins fuck up, and I can't start any files.
Going for GasGivers latest build instead and will then test this new Vision.

wreezig i had the same problem as you, i then realised i was using a old build,
got the latest svn build and the text appeared, but now there is a new problem
i cant get the pm3 theme to work the skin is telling me i only have one theme to select from and yet the pm3.xpr is present in the correct 'media' folder.
the skin colours are working just not the new theme??? Help?
Hm, got it to work now.
The new theme looks good, but I still prefer the old theme for Vision.
Noticed one bug in the new theme though, when choosing in dialouges you didn't see the marker. For example when you set the weather for a certain city and you get to choose from some different choises you can't see wich one you have marked at the moment.

Can someone explain to me what is wrong with the Vision skin? I updated my XBMC to the latest, and I downloaded Vision skin and added it to the skin folder.
It seems some functions are missing from the Vision skin. For an example, in the PM3 skin, I can view files in, List, List2, Icons, Big Icons.
But in Vision skin I can only view the files in, List, Icons and Big Icons
When I go to Programs, Games, Videos, Pictures, Music etc. It doesn't show all expected files such as: Share, SMB share, Play DvD etc.

ive finally got pv3 working woot!! for some reason vision doesnt seem to be picking up the 2nd theme in the media folder only the default theme, so what i did was delete the orignal theme and renamed the pm3 theme to texures.xpr, the skin is picking it up now should have tried this earlier on..and wow!! pv3 looks awesome!! i also agree that the skin need to look a little darker...give me a couple of days to mess around wiv it and ill post what i like and dislike about the theme, only problem now is everytime i want to revert back to the default theme i have to delete copy rename...i hope its just a problem wiv this build..and its not at my end.
..and yeh xino thanks for your help but i dont think that was the problem i practically c&p'd the vision folder into my xbmc/skin directory so the files are in the right places, and vision is compatible with the latest xbmc build, im getting all the different views, its weird how every1 is having different problems with this vision build, as my situaion is similar to xino but a different problem as pm3 is able to pickup all the different themes and yet vision cant..
It works fine for me and your sollution of deleteing the main textures.xpr and renaming the other one will cause problems of missing images in some spots

anyway...there was nothing wrong with the Vision.
It seems the people compiling the latest Tech Build, made some changes. They removed all the source links on the Video, Music, Games and Picture directories. It seems one as to add it them self:/
I finally downloaded the new Vision with PM3.
WOW! it looks much better now, as soon as I saw the 2 faps linking to the orb rotate, i was amazed! The orb looks shinier now!
there is rss feeds, weather and clock image when you want to sort of files by pressing the Left Directional pad.

The blank screen you get when you press up is the Favorites menu. You'll have to add things to it yourself.

Yep, just press the button while not pressing any angle. i.e. press the button on the orb in the middle of the home screen to get a menu for rebooting etc.

I just got the latest Vision skin with PM3. It looked fabulous. However, the excitement quickly went away when I found out that Vision skin still could not display the video info (screen size normal/zoom, stretch 16:9, resolution 1080i, 720p, etc.) when I pressed the Y button on the remote. I think this info is very useful, but don't know why the developers choose not to implement it in Vision skin.

I know this will ruin the "cleaness" of the skin, so I understand if it's not a welcome idea, but is there a possibility to at least add an skin option to turn on so you get an small status text at the bottom of the movie/music listing, saying how many movies/music files etc the current screen is showing, just like other skins have permanent?
Also, of course, it would be wonderful with more skin options to cusomize the skin in every silly way, with background colors etc etc etc. But that's just wishful thinking of me. :)
Probably hard to implement it in a way that it turns out good.

Anyhow, I didn't look at the SVN's, usually look at Team Blackbolts site where they post news including about Vision, but no news there.
And also, of course, in this thread. I guess I've just got too used with skins dying when the developers get tired of them. Like for example PDM etc.
Although I understand that most developers comes to that at some point.
Still looking forward to Pandora though and hoping it turns out great. Always nice to have some different skins to switch between once in a while "refresh" the look. Right now I only switch between this and MC360.
But Vision is my absolute favorite.

Hey guys,
greatest skin ever! It totally rocks! But since it says at the beginning, that you are currently in feedback phase here is some feedback.
1. I hope you are still working on it. If I may believe SVN, you are ;)
2. A progress bar when showing the info about the movie currently playing would be great.
3. A Bigger font when activating scripts. I cant read a thing inside AMT or any other script. Maybe even a skin for AMT ;)
4. Pictures of the Actors inside movie information window
5. Cool would be scrolling text when inside library mode and going through the movie list for all movies whose plot doesnt fit into the preview-box at the bottom right
6. I dont know if it is possible but it would be nice to leave the favorites not only by pressing but also via left/right.
7. Last but not least: The main-menu is a bit irritating I always press the wrong direction. Maybe you can add an option that inverts the left/right action.
Keep up the good work! It really is the greatest skin ever, though it took me a while to find out how to get the transparency correct while watching a movie and opening the menus.
I hope my english was understandable ;)

There's problems with the Lyrics script when running the Vision skin.
It seems to be due to Visions own Lyrics script skin.
My problem is that it lists lyrics, but I can't choose the right pages when the lyrics show. For example the lyrics often start fine with page 1/3, but when I try to change to page 2/3 it either won't work or it jumps to 3/3. Or it starts at 2/3 and jumps to 1/3 when I choose next page. And so on..
And if you just start the Lyrics script without music, so to bring up the menu for the script, you just get empty lines without text.

Hey, long time no see 9TNine
So, i recently attempted to update XBMC for the first time since last april, and whenever i do this, i always update all the skins i have.
Vision is my default skin for my installations. I liked the animation mod that was done, so i do try to have that in as well, but the main modification that i do is add an animated splash screen right after the V logo appears
On recent builds however, the little change i make to startup.xml, the same way i've ALWAYS done this mod, doesn't function. Instead, the animation hangs at the final frame, and the home screen never appears.
It works fine on the older build of Vision, but not on the latest.
Any ideas why this might be?

Figured out all the navigation techniques via keyboard except one, once a movie is started how is it stopped?, there doesnt seem to be stop buttons around for anything.

um, where can I download this skin from. Is it available alone, I don't want to update my XBMC build by getting a new SVN.

It looks like Vision has a few broken parts,
dialogs for: adding sources, custom background and a few more I'm sure.

I've been slowly modifying Vision to look like I want it to, with many more mods to come,

Thanks, I know that you are busy with many projects and most likely home life as well, when you get to it you get to it.
Post your findings and possibly point me in the right direction and I'll try to fix it.
As long as some time in the future it works like it used to I'll be very happy.
Meanwhile I'll continue with my mods.
I forgot to add in my first post:
XBMC and Vision are both current Revisions, and Vision broke somewhere between Atlantis and Babylon :(
What you need to do for starters is find all the old Listcontrol and Thumbnailpanel controls in the skin and replace them with the new List and Panel controls
