Evening,

what settings and xbmc versions are recommended for streaming from ftp? I installed the 2.0 final version, but streaming from ftp doesn't seem to work nicely. I added some sources to the file-manager as FTP Network share but streaming is not working nicely. Mp3 works with a delay of 2minutes before it's even starting to download from the ftp. Movies don't play at all ...

However when selecting the files and downloading them to the local HDD, i get super fast speed (1mb/sec) ...

Would appreciate your help!

there is already a topic on this.. search would have yielded results but all results say its intended as a transfer protocol not a streaming protocol. Delays are due to it having to get the whole of the file... then load it in bufferes then play.Far better to use SMB or an actual stream protocol.

Of course i tried search ... Some users reported that their streaming from ftp is working nicely only that they can't fastforward with the latest version. Have a look here for example :> http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=22608&page=5

those posts are a lot newer than 2.0 final release.

would it be hard to add the changes for mplayer to work with ftp streaming, to a previous release?

was posted in december, try a newer build.
