View Full Version : xTV (Apple TV take 1 replica/clone) skin is in the XBMC Skinning Project's SVN
So after many hours of work we have finally decided that it is ready for the public. This is still very much a work in progress so don't expect perfection, we are all very new to making skins.

The skin is available for download through the XBMC Skinning Project SVN. Just use this in a SVN client (http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org) to download it http://xboxmediacenter.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/xboxmediacenter/xTV/

I don't know why, but the xtv skin looks different on my tv than in that screenshot.
The overall font size is a lot smaller. Most is almost unreadable (RRS feed, sub menu texts, etc)
Its also not as bright white and the letters of a lot of words are touching each other.
BTW I'm on PAL 16:9 28" crt tv

Don't use XPR fonts if you can avoid it (no I haven't checked out the skin)
We are using a ttf font.
And about the font size in 16x9, I just made the <aspect> wrong. We have it fixed I am just not at home to upload it. Neither one of us that work on the code in the skin have a widescreen tv so it was a little hard work on it.

aren't you using the PC environment?@CHI3f, yes CHI3f, you and your team should really utilize the XBMC GUI Win32 PC Development Environment for skinners & python developers (link) (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23235) to help with your skinning, that is what it is for. It will allow you to test and compare PAL 4:3, PAL 16:9, NTSC 4:3, NTSC 16:9 with overscan compensation and 720p and 1080i HDTV resolutions.
what xml do i need to edit to make the font a little larger in 16x9 480p?
font.xml in the NTSC 16x9 dir unless your doing 4x3 480p
which font number is it or do i change em all?
probably all I have no idea really guess it depends on which one you want to change

i like the skin and its simplicity. as far a memory usage goes, it's better than the other new skin i was using (clearity).
i wouldn't mind seeing support for wide icons, but it's hard to see how that might work given the way navigation works.

Only if your trying to commit to it you only want to use checkout it will ask you for a username/pass anytime its trying to upload changed files

Great skin replicate, i've been enjoying my time with it.
Just wanted to know how i could make some of the smaller fonts bigger, e.g. when using search in music library, the rss feed, album info on the home screen. Am using PAL 16X9 screen.
Is there anyway of the making the complete music info screen come up instantly when you select a track.

I am running XBMC 2.0.0 and it will not work. It says it is an incompatible skin. I installed a T3CH release dated 1st Feb 2007 and it still tells me that it is incompatible.
Any ideas? What have I missed here?

You need a newer build, like the most recent T3CH build as this skin uses newer features.
Been following the thread from the start. Maybe I am blind but I don't see where it says to use the latest possible version available...
Anyway, I figured since the first post in the thread was dated Feb 2nd and the build I had was from Feb 1st, it should be fine. Obviously not.
I guess I will have to find a later build.

Simple as that.
I downloaded the T3CH release from 9th Feb, redownladed xTV and put it all on the xbox.
Wow, it looks stunning! Worth the hassle I was having just to see it.

Yesterday i have had a little problem with xTV: after loading with the initial xTV splash the image when black and does nothing. I rebooted the XBox and the same, and for test if it was an XBMC error i conected via ftp and suddendly xTV started to work correctly, as if ftp sayed "ey you, wake up!". I was playing with Xebian (XBox version of Linux Debian) and the wrap style view, if it can help...
When you update the skin you really should switch to another skin then delete and replace. I have had some adverse effects from overwriting.

I didn't upgrate it since i installed it (a week ago more or less...). I thought it could be something about the graphic card because i had been working with Linux. In any case it work correctly now (xTV had got a bad day... :p)
start using this skin yesterday and its great, its up there with pmIII easy!!!

the only bug i found is [well apart from the small text] when u go to the visualisation setting while listening to a song [there are no setting availible] are constantly displayed in the background,,, makin it hard to read the text!!!

Came across just a couple of things I thought worth mentioning. When I'm listening to music and I browse my videos in library mode, I get the music track information garbled up in the top corner. Also thought it would be nice not to have the scroll bar on the side when viewing directories in wrap mode.

And about the player time overlapping is fixed now. Good eye, I probably would not have noticed cause I don't ever use library view.

Hi, I am new to XBMC in general but already love the XTV skin. It's by far the most beautiful one I have seen so far and also very useable (esp. compared to skins like MC360). Keep up the great work even though I personally don't see much room for improvement since it's almost perfect :)

I saw your log about removing the changelog script because it uses guibuilder. I hope you didn't mis-understand what was asked of you.
It is ok, and perfectly acceptable to include any script you want. Use guibuilder, edit it or whatever you want. :)
I believe what Jezz_X and I meant was to not put that stuff in the main trunk. Offer it as an extras package. I see the skinning svn doesn't have a extras or some other folder for that. Maybe that could be added to the scripting svn.
I think the changelog script that you modified for your script was and is a good idea. Scripts like this I believe (I have no say in the skinning svn) Are accepatable in the main trunk.
Also, you committed a thumbs.db file in one of your last commits. I know you know that can cause conflicts, just pointing it out.

When I upload to my xbox I always switch to a different skin and and complete delete and then transfer the xtv folder.
I'll try making a whole new svn and doing an update just incase something didn't transfer properly. I'll let ya know if that fixes the wrap view issue.

For those folks who have the scroll bar in wrap view. Try the following.
1 - create a new xtv checkout folder.
2 - do and UpdateSVN - just to make sure everything is there.
3 - switch skin to something other than xtv
4 - delete xtv folder on xbox
5 - upload new build to xbox
This worked for me and I no longer have the scroll bar in wrap view, I'm guessing when I was doing just the updatesvn something got corrupt and I needed to download from scratch.

Love the skin, one small bug I just found: I am not able to scroll the plot text (if it is too long to fit on one screen) when viewing IMDB imformation of my movies. If I switch to the actors view, I can just press "up" and scroll the actors list but this does not work with the plot.

One minor gripe I have is the window with View modes and Library toggle when I press left while on the left side in a window. I can handle it, but my technofobic friends tend to panic, because they think they broke something.
Is there any way of changing this behaviour?
Also, I was wondering if I can get my lists (in listview) to appear more to the left. I display music as %N %A - %T (number, artist, title), and with the current list-width and position, I almost always just see the artist and have to wait for the line to scroll to read the songtitle as well.
I like this skin a lot, thinking of making it my new standard, as the fonts in Clearity and the new PDM look weird and small on my tv. I also like the simple look, it's sleek and highly efficient.

Oh yeah, and with the new XBMC playlist handling, the 'Randomize' option in the playlist context menu has become redundant. ;)

I see the control but I can not select it. If the cursor is all the way on the right on "Get Thumb" and I press right again it jumps back to the beginning ("Cast").
In the OSD while watching a movie in fullscreen, in the 'audio' and 'video' submenus, all options that have sliders don't display as text. They do work however.

That has allready been fixed.
So if any of you have updated the skin today you will notice a few changes. We now have a change font color option, and the whole reason we wanted that was to show off this:

This is also to be found in the svn. It is not done but it is definately usable. I also still have some font includes to change/add so if you notice anything that does not seem right we allready know and are just to tired to fix it at the moment.

I was out with dome friends last night and mentioned your skin to them. Neither had xbox's, but after seeing the simple and easy to use interface you put together, they have both asked me to buy them an xbox and install your skin on top of xbmc.
To me, that sounds like a massive thumbs up for your good work on the skin and to the developers of xbmc.

Finally, what are the plans for xTV? Is there a proposed features list available? Is there anything to be added to it?

One other thing I noticed: when using the scrollbar, if I scroll through my list of movies using the triggers on my controller, the scrollbar on the right wiggles a little. As if it has a slightly different position for every title in the list. Thought you might want to know.
xTV is my new favorite, keep it up! :D
Oh, and currently (rev 502) the volumebar doesn't show up completely in both themes.

i just updated this skin a minute but i dont have the option to change font colour or the white background...
do i have to include some thing in the skin folder???
White theme can be found in system->settings->appearance->look & feel-> skin theme.
Font color can be found in system->skin settings->change font color
You need rev 502 for this to work, so grab it from SVN. I think the compiled rar in CHI3f's sig is a little older.
Sorry about the defualt text color, I was using the white theme when I ftp'd the fontcolors.xml to my computer. It is fixed now.

I have never noticed the shaking scrollbar thing, but there is nothing I can do about it. It is set in a fixed position and if it moves it is not a skin bug.

Thanks for a brilliant skin - the best yet in my opinion.
I've been doing some customisation by replacing some of the 256x256 and smaller icons with 512x512 versions that I've either created or discovered on the Web. They look a whole lot better on a big plasma screen.
When I've gone as far as I can I'd like to contribute this work to the xTV effort. What's the best way of uploading/emailing the replacement files?

I notice in Video, the option to view as Wrap is gone, but it remains in Music.
Am I missing something or mistaken or is this meant to be this way? Personally I like the wrap view in Movies...

I found that for me, with the latest T3CH build, wrap is available for videos in library mode, but not in file mode. Checked and rechecked, but this seems to be the case.
I love the new OSX white mode for this skin. It was a bit tricky changing over as the font was very hard to read until I stumbled onto the right menu.

How dO i get it white with black writing?
I have noticed that the "now playing" screen with the large album art is not replaced by the screensaver after the timeout. I have to click on one remote button for the visualization to change.
Anyone facing this?

Just to say that I have recently downloaded this skin and it's great - well done.
All I need to do now is work on my Keymap.xml so that I can get everything working. I can't seem to get out of the visualisation at the moment without stopping the music:(

Hi - I just downloaded the latest build of XBMC and did a SVN update of this skin and built and copied them both to my xbox.
I have a slightly annoying problem whereby the xTV skin first loads (set to the home page) then the screen is not fully drawn with the words (Music, Video etc) missing from the screen for about a second. Only an annoyance really but anyone else have this?
Another slight issue I had was if I set the start page to be Music then when the skin starts it does so with the context menu to change the list type on the screen. Again anyone else with this?

the first time I saw this skin on Youtube (when I havn't softmodded me xbox yet). The skin looked really cool:)

Just navigate to the PAL folder in the skin and open the file named Translate.xml
All you need to translate will be in there.

to this bit in MusicVisualisation.xml in the resolution you are using, mine is 16:9 -720, so I put it in pal16x9

My wife really likes this skin so I looked into why the OSD menu and status bar are huge in 16x9 720, I think its because while the video is playing on a real xbox it behaves differently then it does in the win32 tester, in the tester it looks fine with its fake video, but on a real xbox, it seems like xbmc uses the pal16x9 xmls, and the 720p font.xml, that combination yields huge fonts.
it's like the xbox reverts to non 720p while playing a video so the big ass fonts in the 720p font.xml are displayed in a non 720p 16x9 screen. If I replace the 720p fon.xml with the one from pal16x9 the osd looks great, but the rest of the skin has tiny ones then. Short of creating a special VideoOSD.xml in the 720p folder, I can't see an easy way of fixing it. Since a picture is worth a thousand word, here it is.

yeah, i d/l it again after you posted it, the album covers are cool, but the osd is still wrong, I don't know if its the skin or xbmc, i looked into more, and xmbc doesnt look at the videoosd.xml in anywhere but pal, it ignores 720p's and pal16x9, i was going to fix it, but short of of making a second set of all the code in VideoOSD and making one visible upon a skin setting varible for 720p, and making the other set visible only on non 720p, i can't see it being easily fixed, btw, the font should be <size>14</size> to look right in 720, or so mine looks fine when I override the current one, but my fix only works for 720p and breaks all others.

turns out, the skin is fine, but xbmc wasn't, for some reason, the skin was set to 4x3 when displaying videos, and 720 16x9 everywhere else, there was no way to set the <videoresolution> to 1 anywhere in any skin, so i did it via ftp, and then the skin was perfect, it was confused by the dual states, 10 for screen (720p 16x9) and 4 for video (4x3 ntsc), it doesn't show up in pm3 or others, but it's not the skin.
I wonder why xbmc doesn't let you set the video resolution through the gui?
Again, great skin., btw, in case you were wondering, i did do a clean new install, it set up the dual thing on its own.

Yeah, I found that, it must be new, beacuse I didn't know to look for it, but the box i was using hadn't been updated in awhile before, so it could have been there for awhile.
I wish the skinning engine would be able to deal with this better, because I like the 720p for the menus (the black is darker, and the fonts are crisper) but since most of my movies are less the 300 high, I use ntsc 16x9 for video, but the engine still reads the xmls from 720p, so the fonts are huge. Also when I use 720p for video my xbox's hd will just randomly hash away after every 2 minutes, regardless of cache or not, and with web and ftp turned off, I even set the hd to turn off immediately, and it wakes up just to hash away (for some reason it stops if I do anything with the remote, even volume).
Probably not the best place for posting my issue, but thought it was kind of correct, since the font/resolution issue.
So I saw yoy mention maybe going back and adding 512px icons in stead of 256px. Can this be done by just substituting later files with the same name or this there a config file somewhere that needs to be edited with teh new icon sizes?

Maybe this is a noob question...
I have tried this with the compied builds and the svn build and still I get the same issue when I ftp the files over, XBMC complains that the skin is not 2.0.0 or higher. I updated to 2.0.1 over again just to be sure, but it does not like the skin. Is there an xml file or a permission somewhere I should check?

If your using XBMC as your dash, you can't replace it while its running, check the xbmc version in system, it will let you know what version your running.
If it's your dash, try launching evox or avalaunch from xbmc then ftping it over.
Just a little help for all of those who aren't using SVN and compiling their own build.
You have to find a build from Feb or newer!!
if not you will get skin incompatibility errors.

It took awhile but I narrowed it down to this bit of code.
Funny thing is it's not the code itself, it's the the control call itself, if I comment it out it stops hashing, but looses the onscreen menu, if I comment out everything but the control header and end, it still hashs, but no menu.
I though it was a missing texture, but i put real ones in the media folder for the missing texture error in the log, and for all the textures in the "progress" control in defaults.xml, and in the above code.
It only started after the 4/8/07 update, hass anyone else noticed this.
I though it was a xbmc bug at first related to the hdd smart code, but it's not. Here is the full breakdown from the bug report forum.

.....it's not a defective hardrive noise, it's very exact, when a movie is playing or on pause, the harddrive will start to hash away after 30 secs.
if I press anything on the remote or controller, from volume to pause, the hashing will stop, for exactly 30 secs. then it will start back up again, it will go forever just whirring, it doesn't do it in the gui, it does it with cache, no cache, nd in every video resolution, seems to have started just after a 4/1/07 upgrade, it does it in both t3ch, and pimped, as well as links2xbmc all made after 4/1/07. it sounds like a harddrive defragging. BTW, it will wake up the harddrive to make its little noise, i know this because i set it to sleep immediately, and the drive spun down, then 30 sec later, the video studdered and the harddrive spun back up to hash......
It only does it in xTv, not PM3.
Let me know what you think it might be.
It has to be the timeout set for the now playing screens. I am seriously thinking about getting rid of em as they have been causing more problems than anything.

In Vision skin, when I'm at the main menu, pressing A button pop up the "Power Menu" with buttons for Info, Shutdown, MS Dash, etc. Is there a similar shortcut to do that in xTV? To get there I normally go from Main Menu --> System --> Power Menu.

First... the skin is fabulous... when I walk by the Apple store and see AppleTV, I always say to myself... yeah, but it doesn't play a,b,c,d,e,f...z... and it costs 3x more than an Xbox!
Anyway, I just switched my GUI to 480p with mplayer at 1080i so I can play
X264 files in the new mplayer (with AC3 passthru)...ran out of memory at 1080i/1080i and my TV doesn't do 720p.
The only problem I am having is that now the font text for the onscreen display when playing a video... and for the info as well when playing a video.... is too small to read, even when just centimeters from the TV.
Since the rest of the fonts look ok so far, I was hoping someone could point me to the font (in which fonts.xml file?) which I should adjust for these two displays (the OSD and the info).
I'll post my results for anyone else so they can find it easily via a search of the forums.

azazel, anything on the beginning screen is in home.xml, either in Pal or Pal16x9, depending on what resolution your xbox is set to.
xTv uses the library function to figure out if it's a tv show or not, so you have to change that to open a shortcut in your video shortcuts as specified in Sources.xml instead.
change:
<onclick>ActivateWindow(MyVideoLibrary,tvshowtitles)</onclick>
to:
<onclick>ActivateWindow(MyVideoFiles,Series)</onclick>
assuming that you already have a shortcut in your sources.xml for "Series"

G'day guys
Sweet skin. Don't even need to turn my 360 on anymore with this baby loaded. The only issues I seem to have are
1: Music visual screen that shows the track details and album art: The album art looks like a fat rectangle rather than square. I ran through the screen calibration setup. Album art looks good else where in the skin (ie square). I am running the current SYN of XBMC (forget exact version as am at work) on a PAL 16:9 standard definition. Any thoughts on fixing this up would be appreciated.
2: The small text is just too small to clearly read. This is the text for track details for example when viewing an album details. Is there a way to add an option in the skin to increase the font size?

The large icons are just the small ones zoomed, so I don't see why the smaller ones look pixelated to you. And the keymap.xml is not skin specific, if the menu button does it in PM3 it should do it in xTV or any other skin as well.

I went back in last night and, whilst I didnt test it all thoroughly, I can tell you that the Skin Settings window is all squashed together on the right-hand side. I DO understand this is a beta, I just would have thought positioning would have been high up on the list.
Still, it's looking good so far, and I'm looking forward to it being my default when it's all together.

How do you get the tv shows button to work. I set the content to tv shows for Star Trek. I can see it in tv show but when i select the folder none of the episodes in that folder show up. How do i get this to work.
u have to set the folder to scan for tv content, i use tv.com then label each episode this way i.e lost.310.avi, lost.311.avi and so on, then go the folder that is holding ur tv show and click add to library.
then activate library mode and click scan for content if it hasent already...
well thats how i do it anyway and i have no problem with it, best skin to date imo...

First off great skin. I have a few question and I dont know if they belong here or not so please point me in the right direction if not.
1: For my movie section I have it pointing to two harddrives and all the movies show up just right, but when I click on info from a movie on lets say drive A It gives me the option to get movie info but when I click on a movie from drive B it doesn't have that same options.
2:On the main dash the second thing down is TVShows and when I click on It, It sends me to my movies section in Library mode and I tried to change It but Its no working

Well the HighDef thing I knew but was just cheacking.(Thanks Tho rjeeves33) The other problems I was hopeing to get some help on.
Why I can get Movie Info (so I can change the icons for the Dvdcovers) on all the different harddrives where the movies are located. It only works with the HD I first started out with I tried to delete all sources and starting with one of the HD that did work but It stays the same.
Why the TVShows tab built into the xTV skin can be programed to go where I wanted it to.

xpainx, do you mean "Why does my thumbnail not change after I change/update the folder.tbn file?"
If so, it's because XBMC caches them to the xbox's hd, so if you want a new one, you'll have to find the cached tbn file and delete it, or just delete the WHOLE thumbnail folder, and let XBMC cache ALL of your folder.tbns again.
The "Clean Library" button in settings might do it too, I don't know, I've never used it :)

Unfortunately, scripts are not working for me at the moment with this script. Particularly, I am looking for Apple Movie Trailer Script. It works on the PMIII script, but when I change the skin to xtv, it doesnt open anymore. Any idea what I can do. I am using the latest xbmc built (June 4) and just downloaded the xtv skin from your signature's link today.
Any help is highly appreciated!!!

CHi3f - this has to be the best skin out there at the moment...I mean, I've always loved Apple (MACs....mmmmmmm!) but this is so sweet. Thanks so much for the effort you've put in.
Can I just raise 3 small issues that could do with being addressed?
First
When you are in display mode whilst listening to music, the ablum cover that is shown in front of the visualisations is slightly stretched outwards, and is not perfectly square...can this be amended?
Second
For some reason, the text for the option of "Party mode" that you can choose from within the context menu is always visible when choosing an album. The word 'Party' overlaps the album cover, and the word 'Mode' is just to the right of it. When you leave the album to shrink down, showing the album info, the word 'Party Mode' remain where it is...it never disappears. I know this is not an option to choose, as you cannot highlight it.
Third
Within settings, the options on the left-hand side do not have the same spacing within the highlighted area, as every other highlight within the skins. The first letter of the first word is right up against the left edge of the highlight bar...can this also be amended?
Thats it for now....so that you dont think I am all take, take, take...I have made a small splash.png, which some people may find useful. You will notice that it is the apple logo, purely because I do not have access to the 'X' that you use...if I had a high-res version of this I could amend the splash.png...

I've taken some time to try and find things wrong with the theme...admittedly I cant find an awful lot, but I figure if I list them all here then it will tidy them away for you.
They are in no particular order, and I know I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to design...but here they are:
FILE MANAGER
The 'Root' headers seem to be quite far to the left of the window, and feel they would look better being in line with the text beneath them. The same can be said for the '# of objects' text at the bottom of the window. This should I also be in line with the text above them I feel.
HOME PAGE
the xTV logo seems a little to the left, and feel that it should be centered
MUSIC
As already mentioned, the 'Party Mode' text is always visible in library mode. No matter what view you are in, you see 'Party Mode' just sitting there. I assume this is all part of the context menu, but it does not disappear when the context menu is removed.
The shade of blue that is used when a track is selected is difficult to read within the highlight window. I know a lot has been said about the size of the text, but I feel that this is more important...at least you can see the white clearly!
PROGRAMS
When game wide icons are chosen, the reflection for each icon is WAY down at the bottom of the screen, irrespective of the view you are in. Obviously, the reflection should sit underneath the icon, but it is way down at the bottom of the screen...very detached.
DOWNLOAD THEMES
The border for this pop-up window seems very fat to me...a lot fatter than the other pop-up windows.
POWER MENU
I know that I have mentioned this before, but the smaller versions of the icons really do look pixelated to me, and the small 'restart' icon is definately squashed in a little.
Would the icons look better up into the centre of the screen?
Would it look better if you had clean, crisp blue borders at the top and bottom of the screen, rather than a fade? As a fade, the text looks like it's edging too far toward the bottom of the fade.
Should the date be more over toward the right-corner of the screen...it looks in a strange place.
WEATHER
The cog icon seems like it's floating on it's own for some reason..it seems to have no attachement to the title, as the icons do on every other page...it just seems out of place where it is right now.
In 16x9 mode, the weather icons look a little stretched out?
The text for 'High' temperature is smaller than 'low' temperature when looking at other days of the week.
SETTINGS > REGION
The text is too close to the border edge of the highlight bar
DISPLAY MODE
When choosing presets and settings from the pop-up control menu, the list which appears is right on top of the album cover and cannot be read.
APPLE.COM TRAILERS
When you have gone into Apple.com trailers for the first time, and choose the xTV skin, the script just hangs and locks up when setting the GUI for the first time. When you reboot and go back into it, it continues this action again and you cannot do anything about it.
Thats actually it for now...but I will continue to test.

I dk how i fix my txt thing but i think it might of had something to do with the way i was ftping it. I was not unraring my tech build to a local dir, i was just opening the rars and dragging the files over to the ftp dir on my xbox. So it would go something like this:
winrar unrars to a temp folder then windows would ftp the file over to the xbox.
some how i think it messed the files in the temp folder from other build i have used. I know that windows got some sort of sys in the temp fold to keep files from messing up. Any way the txt now shows up, and i really don't know how tho.

untill you shutdown XBMC. When you reboot the setting will be off again.
That's annoying when you start a playlist on startup, because you'll hear
always the same songs. At first I thought it was a XBMC problem but at PMIII it works perfectly. It should be great when you could fix it.

Did you randomize then save the playlist? Are you using the same playlist for each skin? As far as I know the skin can't control whether or not randomize is saved after a reboot.

Got that fixed. :) I love it - but how do you get the TV Shows button to work? When I go to it I can't select anything...

I installed the latest build from SVN (813 last entry in changelog is 2007-06-26)
It works perfect but i noticed that the 3 buttons in the Music info page are to much on the right (Tracks,Refresh,Get Thumb) so they are overlapping.
Can anyone confirm that?
I tested in different resolutions.

but... there's always a "but" ;-)... when running scripts, the fonts are really really small. they're simply unreadable even 4 or 5 feet away from the screen!

Any updates on an xTV skin for AMT? If not does anyone know a way just to get it functional? Mine always closes as soon as I open it since it does not have a matching skin. It opens in MC360 and PMIII. I'm guessing I just have to copy another skin into an xTV folder in AMT. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you have the skin set to default in settings. It should run with a pmiii skin.
If you are using the latest AMT script, then I'm pretty sure any skin other than the default won't work as I've made many changes. Also the latest AMT requires the most upto date build of XBMC 9504 or newer.
Maybe try deleting userdata/apple movie trailers/settings.txt to reset the settings.
Is anyone having issues with DVD playback using the latest T3CH XBMC 2007-07-09 SVN rev9530 build running 720 16:9?
All of my DVD's, no matter what settings I have on playback, have slowdowns in them. If I switch to any other theme, these issues go away. There are no playback problems in xTV but DVD playback.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on and how I might fix it?
Also, one other issue I am having is that with the xTV theme, auto-resume on DVD's is not working like it does with other skins. The option is selected under the settings and I have tried unselected and re-selecting it.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

...but I think a compressed (with XBMCTex) version comes with T3CH builds of XBMC(?), and compressed skins (comes as "textures.xpr" and) uses significantly less RAM-memory and loads faster/smoother. You could however download XBMCTex.exe yourself and compress the skin yourself using the build.bat file that comes with the xTV skin if you download it from the SVN.

I know you have been working on your other skin, just wondering if the new 3D elements that allow for better coverflow techniques will be implemented in xTV anytime soon. It would truly prove a much better mockup for the iTV and make it look even better than it looks now. Keep up the good work!

Here is a word of advice, when you see someone's SVN repository on SF click Code then on SVN then at the bottom you will see:
svn co https://xboxmediacenter.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/xboxmediacenter xboxmediacenter
Use the address in there. It will make things easier.

Wow, i always loved CoverFlow!!! It can be easily to port to 4:3? I would try to do it (i think it would be a good point to start with skin modding) but i'm going tomorrow to CampusParty, so no XBox :D

All my media is on a smb network with 27 shares across 2 servers and 11 harddrives, I noticed on the 7-16 t3ch build, that for some reason the muti source bookmarks are not working so well, namely the "All" bookmark with 20 paths works fine, but a smaller one with 7 locks up, and the one with 8 and also with 4 works fine. (I swear it looks like a odd numbered multi below 8 is whats broken) That could have something to do with it, and yes I did a clean load with and without proir settings, I had to go back to an older one to make the multi source bookmarks work right. I didn't write up a bug report because I figured I wasn't alone. Hope that helps you. Maybe Cheif has one of his own in the works that does cds too soon.
MacGyver I like the idea behind how you hid the reflection bleed through but it really only works for solid colors

Come to think of it, I bet the current image diffuse mask would work, if I made the overlaping area completely transparent, it would be a funny looking diffused mask, and would have to be exactly the right shape after it was skewed. I'll look into it when I get home.

No. You have to setup your TV shows in library mode.

hi i seem to be having a problem with the tv show libuary and i dont know if this is a problem with the skin or the database i just get numbers for my different shows and when i open the folder with the shows in there is nothnig there, exept for the simpsons and buffy which are fine., is there a way to make the tv show button open to the file browser and not the libuary until this is fixed does anyone else have the same problems.

Now, a couple of questions:
-In the 'Wrap'-view for music, the title of the folder/file is not shown, whereas in movies, this IS shown. Is this something I can easily fix myself?
- If I choose the 'White' theme, with adjusted black font, in the movies wrap view, the file/foldernames are shown in a black font on a black background. That doesn't really work.
- Not specifically on-topic I think, but what's the best way to handle TV series in terms of storage etc to make the internet lookup work best?

Hello Everyone,
First I would like to thank all the developers of this skin for all hard work.
How do you enable NTSC 4:3 on this skin? As soon as I change the skin from PMIII to xTV i believe it uses the PAL settings by default. The skin works correctly, but there is no text (or blank titles) on the screen but all the images are properly displayed.
I must be missing something and too dumb to figure it out. Under the /xTV/skin.xml I tried to change the default 4:3 skin to NTSC instead of PAL but after than it would not even load the skin (just went back to PMIII). I tried the same for the screen resolution in PMIII (->NTSC 4:3) before switching skins and nothing.
Any pointers would be appreciated

You don't have to do anything. You especially don't mess with the skin files.
If the fonts don't display it's because you either didn't install the skin correctly, or have the font colours set to black.

Well it's definately not that the fonts are black. I'm actually have the exact same problem as this guy. I've installed the skin several times now, I've deleted and started from scratch. I've also tried downloading the skin and rebuilding it 2 or 3 times in this process, and still I'm getting NO fonts. I can tell because even when i'm playing a video or music and bring up the display I cant see any text.
Any ideas?

There's plenty of troubleshooting you can do. Here's 2 for a start:
1. Look in the logs (debuglog) to see what's going on.
2. Check that the font is present (font.xml), fonts/<fontname>

It's loading the font just fine by the looks of the log, and xTV works fine with latest SVN of both XBMC and xTV.
With skin colours set to the "white theme" then the font will be black, and thus hard to see.
The other problem is he is using a really old build of XBMC that dosn't support the Color dir for fonts.
But we didn't get the build date from the top of his log
After updating to the newest build of XBMC this is no longer an issue for me. Thanks for your suggestions.

One more thing please if you get time. Could you please add the same view to Music views, and/or add 4-5 to each side instead of 3 on each side (for 16x9) since the whole screen uses the view, it fills up space nicer looking. I have no success when changeing where TV-section goes.
When i edit home.xml and change (under the TV-section):

and replace MyVideoLibrary,tvshowtitles with simply MyVideoFiles (as the movie-section uses) skin wont load at all.
This is a brilliant skin - absolutely superb, the first one that's been better than Project Mayhem, especially with the coverflow mod above.
Quick question - is it possible for someone to list out what each option in the Skin menu does? They're not all intuitive.
Secondly, I've come across a really annoying bug. When browsing TV Shows in List view, the watched/unwatched icon appears. However, once the episode picture shrinks in size to show the synopsis, the watched icon disappears. Unfortunately, it never reappears until rebooting the xbox.
Is it possible for this bug to be fixed, or for me to manually prevent the synopsis from appearing? Anyone know how to go about it?

@CHI3f, have you thought about implementing a 'carousel home menu (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=26877)'? I think a circular and rotating home-menu would really suit the xTV skin,more than any other existing skin for XBMC

xtv = apple tv not front row. that giant ipod looking frontend. Though a another skin based off front row one could make.

Has anyone successfully changed so "TV" doesnt go to "MyVideoLibrary,tvshowtitles" but simply to "MyVideoFiles" (same av "Movies") or similar?

ive had the same problem, havent found much advice, when i click "Tv shows" from the main menu it takes me to that context menu and i cant even get out of it....
amazing skin, but i cant get that part to work and it would be nice if i did

This was addressed awhile back, some people don't use the library feature, so if you have a bookmark to:
<bookmark>
<name>Television</name>
.....
....
.....
</bookmark>
just put the "Television"
after the <onclick>ActivateWindow(MyVideoFiles)</onclick> in the home.xml for your resolution so that it reads <onclick>ActivateWindow(MyVideoFiles,Television)</onclick>
do the same with your movies if you need to, a bookmark, then the change to the movie button.
Pretty easy, a lot easier then when I have to put the weather icon back in after a major release. :)

Hi there and congratulations for this fantastic skin.
I am not using the Library function (app 1.2 TB of files would have to be renamed to follow convention... Can't be bothered!) and therefore not using the TV Shows menu. I read here and there that there should be an option to toggle off this menu in System>Skin Settings, but I don't see this option.
XBMC is latest t3ch (2nd Sept build), xTV also latest (11th July, downloaded from Chi3f's sig).
An alternate question I put to you although I am not finished researching it yet:
I did however set content for all video folders and scanned all files to snatch infos + thumbs from ImDB. It's been successful in most cases but not all, and my question is the following: How do you delete info+thumb for a movie?

Quick question - is it possible for someone to list out what each option in the Skin menu does? They're not all intuitive.
Secondly, I've come across a really annoying bug. When browsing TV Shows in List view, the watched/unwatched icon appears. However, once the episode picture shrinks in size to show the synopsis, the watched icon disappears. Unfortunately, it never reappears until rebooting the xbox.
Is it possible for this bug to be fixed, or for me to manually prevent the synopsis from appearing? Anyone know how to go about it?

I've had nothing but problems getting the SVN client to work. I've downed a couple of skins and none have worked.
Is it available anywhere else? I'd really like to get an update.
