i've been looking around the archives for info on this, but nothing has properly showed a yes/no answer.

i'm currently using the official xbox controller + dongle to control xbmc, but my new cambridge audio amp has an amazing remote with extra buttons (perhaps for their cd players etc) and i would love to map these to the xbox, but they don't return a remote code when pressed at the xbox.

any way of getting this to work?

whilst you mention that you're tried the 'extra' buttons, do the standard play, pause buttons work? i got my yamaha receiver remote to control xbmc after setting it with the rca remote codes. but not many of the buttons were available for use in xbmc. most of the buttons on the yamaha remote were specific to the receiver, or different devices. i could only use 1-10, play, pause, ff,rw, back and menu.

i highly recommend getting a logitech harmony remote for your system. i have several different makes/models in my system, including my xbmc, and it controls all of them flawlessly and setup was simple, no programming.

the remotes are on sale all the time now and can be had for as little as $50. it will be the last remote you will need for a long time... or want to use!

any all in one remote can be programmed to the xbox. i used the learning mode on mine...all the buttons are available for me.

I can also recommend the Logitech Harmony Remote Controls. I have the Logitech Harmony 525 and it works perfect with XBOX/XBMC.

@Affini:
I have a IRmod on my XBOX and want to turn the xbox on and off with the harmony with a single button press. Normally i have to press the button sequence: stop+stop+select to turn the xbox on, etc ..
Do you have a idea how to implement the button sequence into a single button in device or activity mode?
