first off, let me give a big thank you to anyone that has had a hand in xbmc and these forums. i love my xbox now, and will finally get some use out of it. streaming movies from my 1.5tb server is awesome.
i would like to put games on the hd of my xbox and launch them from xbmc. i take it this has been done but i am not seeing anything about it. i have made iso's and tried ftping the to the xbox, but the files dont do anything. is there a backup guide for dummies based off of xbmc? thanks so much, john

1. make sure you have the paths setup in "my videos" (edit your xml or do it within the gui).
2. make sure you have your codecs (for mplayer).
3. if your using a stock xbox drive (you mentioned softmod) then you wont be doing much since the drive is so small.
4. if your streaming, i would let it ride at that. i use a 1t server at home and my kids and wife are tickled to no end with it.

thanks for the reply.
i have a 120gb drive in now and everything is running.

not realy sure what that means.
not sure what is the best way to do this but i usually burn iso to dvd-rw and then use dvd2xbox to copy game ot harddrive. i tthen shows up with icon in my games under programs in xbmc.

jarod-you are my hero! i didnt know about dvd2xbox, but i installed it and it loads the games from my xbox dvd drive straight to my hd without the computer. why do you use the computer to burn the iso. anyways i have suscessfully been able to backup of my games so i think it works.....thanks!!!!
i downloaded a few iso's from the web to try it out, didnt really get my xbox for gaming, the only reason i got it was for xbmc, but i wanted to try it to learn the system in total. i also copied a few of my nephews games to my xbox using dvd2xbox. glad u go tit working. i just found out i can open my comics in cbr/cbz format so i am physced about that. they look good on my edtv 42 inch plasma. good luck!
