hey,

how are u guys doing? i'm new to the xbmc i just installed it today on my 130 gb hdd ;-). well anyways i have a couple of question to start with and i hope you could maybe help me.

1.
i can't add music from the files category into my library even if i push the white button and go to scan to database it scans it but still doesn't appear in my library.

2.
is there a way of editting my ide tags directly on the xbox? or do i have to do that on the computer. is there maybe a xbox programm for it?

3.
is it legal to copy dvd movies onto my harddrive?

4.
can i disable thumbnails in general?

5.
xbmc rocks.

thanks a lot already for looking at my post and for maybe answering. those are the most main issues who came to my mind.

thx, lyzrd

strange. are u sure you are in the correct folder (the root of your music folder) when u hit scan to database?

no xbox solution afaik. this would have been too much hassle to do without a mouse and a keyboard anyway, and since most ppl don't have that on their xbox.. besides, there are tons of tagging software already done for the pc.

3.

guess this depends on where in the world you live. it's as illegal as using software such as clonedvd or whatever it's called.

4.

no. but you can disable all remote thumbs, so if u stream your media you will be able to almost pull it off. why you'd want to do it, i don't get.

5.

thanks

ok, thanks a lot for your answer. i think i found out why it would'nt scan it to database, i think it goes hand in hand with not haveing id3 tags, because i scanned another cd this time with id3 tags an scanned it into the library and eerything worked, i just gotta edit those id3 tags.
the reason why i wanted a xbox id3 editor, because i don't have a ftp connection to my xbox right now be ause i can't use our computer, i guess my parents don't want me to, but it's also not really that important.
well i life in germany, most of the time ;-) so i think it is legal there to copy a dvd to harddisc, but i encountered some strange things while doing it with my dvd2x on the xbox. it copies all the files till it gets to a file 1gb or greater, no matter which dvd and than it just stops and doesn't do more is there a maximum filesize limit the xbox can copy? i tried to just copy the vob files with the filemanager, it stop as soon as it would get to the 1gb files. hope you can help me there too.

thx a lot, jochen
