Been given a hand-me-down modded Xbox

i wanted to know what needs to be done to update it to the latest bios and latest dashboard versions.


the xbox has a xecuter 2.3b lite chip in it and it works.
when i boot with the chip on, it loads up to a dashboard of some kind.

i wanted to upgrade these to the latest versions.

the bios can be updated by googlin' for "xecuter" to determine what the latest and greatest is and how to update it. as far as the dash goes, it should open an ftp connection on boot with a default username/password of xbox/xbox. you can then have a look at your directory structure and go from there.

there isnt much reason to update the bios. as you said it works and isnt going to really have any great new noticeable features. i only run xbmc for my dash and have a backup of mxm and avalaunch if i need to ftp in to fix or change something that another dash wont do. ask your hand me downer where to get the updates software for xbmc.
