View Full Version : Green Red Flashing / No FTP (noob/idiot)
hi, i was running xbmc 1.0.0 as an app with a evox dashboard and wanted to upgrade xbmc and make it the default dashboard.
so i moved the contents of e:\\dashboard to a folder below it and moved in xbmc 1.1.0. all via ftp
when i rebooted my xbox i get a black screen and a green/red flashing led. when i try to ftp to this, the server times out.
how screwed am i? thank you very much for any help.
p.s. i searched my ass off for 2 days on this and didn't see anybody having a similar problem.

i assume its a softmod. softmods are very picky about the c drive if it still boots original games just reinstall softmod and evox dash same as you did to mod it the first time then use aid3 to install xbmc as the dash from the softmod section
it boots original games and it's a softmod. i don't have any backups or discs. i found a evox rar and i'm going to try to make a boot disc from, so i can ftp in. then i'll go for that aid3 method.
thanks for the help, bro.

xbe files the same name?
:fixed:
got it! thanks for the help! the boot disc worked great. *i downloaded a evox rar and *extracted then changed the .ini to suit my network requirements (dhcp, ftp = yes, static ip = no), and then created the .iso *all with c-box tools (http://www.cxboxtool.xbox-hq.com/) . what a bad ass app!
summary: i ftp'd into my xbox with the hopes of making xbmc the default dashboard instead of evox. *i thought it was as simple as moving everything out of e:\dashboard and moving the xbmc 1.1.0 files in. *it's not that simple. *the result of that upon reboot was a black screen and a green/red flashing eject button. subsequent reboots had the same result until i loaded an xbox live game. then, at least, reboots gave me the xbox splash which went into a error 21 screen. from that point the evox boot disc i made loaded fine and i went into settings to get the ip i needed to ftp into the xbox (it was different than the ip i was originally using when i moved all of the files from the dashboard). after i ftp'd in i moved everything back to how i had it originally and i'm back in business! except i'm still running an old version of xbmc as an app. *i'm thinking that i'll just upgrade and keep running it as an app. i probably have to change something in my evox settings to add the new version to the evox dashboard app list?
anyway, i hope this helps someone else.

i don't know if you tried this but if you look at the very top of the latest xboxmediacenter.xml file there are clear, concise and very easy to use instructions on how to set up xbmc as your main dash. *i have also included a link for instructions from someone else that may be of help. *my advise, check them both out and use the one that best fits your setup....
good luck...
go here and read this guys instructions...

I am in a similar mess to you. I made an evox auto installer deluxe disc. Booted a retail game (I cant boot backups), with xbox live as you suggest. Game loads fine. Then I tried ejecting the game. I get teh xbox startup splash and then black again.
I tried again, but this time signing into live (dont as why I had that brainfart). Anyway, it said there was an important message for me on live, and I asked if I wanted to go to dashboard, and install update. I said yes. It took me to dash, then said it could not install update, and rebooted.
Result: I have likely got my xbox live account banned, and I still cant do anything but play retail discs. I cant go into the retail dashboard, or evox or unleashx bios. Backups do not boot, nor does the evox disc.
I no longer have the stuff I softmodded my xbox with, so I am really starting to get panicked here...
