hi all,
i just picked up a modded xbox and have been tinkering around with it. i have xbmc 2.0 installed and have no problems playing divx/xvid videos that i download from online sorces (irc, torrent etc).

but when i rip tv eps from dvd using dvd decrypter and then encode them into divx/xvid (using dr. divx and autogk), they work fine on my computer, but all i get is sound on the xbox. the dr.divx im using is 1.0.6 which encodes into divx 5.0. when i play the video it shows up as codec dv50 (or maybe it was dx50) under the info.

does anyone have any tips/guides on how to encode vids that will show up properly (and if possible, doesnt take like 1.5 hours per episode to encode)?

thanks all

i havent been able to do anything with divx/xvid that would result in playback problems (caveat without using insane resolutions). i.e. gmc, quarter pixel, all of that plays back fine.

divx 6 is better and i recommend upgrading to that and using the beta dr divx 2.0 if you like that method.

out of interest what does gspot beta say about your problem media with xbmc?

hi, i checked my copy of xbmc and have found that my copy is dated 2002. maybe that's the problem. anyways ive downloaded the new xbmc and once i manage to find the elusive xdk program then ill see if that fixes it.
