i have recently purchased a used, modded (xecuter 2.6) xbox. the seller has installed xbmc on it - which seems to work fine. how can i tell which version i have - i can't find a version option anywhere.
also, is there some sort of "file list" of xbmc files available so that i can ensure i have the correct files loaded?
thanks in advance...
why bother.. you can probably be quite sure it isnt recent.
just grab a fresh build (like this t3ch (http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=499868&st=0)) read the included readme, read our manual (link in my sig) install - and be happy

my only concern is making sure everything would still work after i updated to the latest version.
there is a file on the c: drive called evoxdash.xbe. when i execute it, i get your splash screen. i'm pretty sure you wouldn't call your executable evoxdash, and i'm not sure what other changes have been made.
as i'm still quite the n00b, i just don't want to make wholesale changes (yet) until i know what the heck i'm doing.
i will download and look at your latest version - i'm sure i can learn alot about the file structure that way, too.

the evoxdash.xbe that is on c: which is around 6-7mb or so is the xbe that your bios is loading.
this is a renamed xbmc executable.
follow what pike suggests, and have fun :)

i note, with joy, that the configuration file for xbmc is in xml - this is double-plus good.
sorry for the n00by questions, but when you're starting from scratch, well, you're starting from scratch.
this may well be the most current version of xbmc, we received the machine just two weeks ago and the modder said that he installed a dashboard. so we'll see.
thanks very much for the help and prompt responses - they're greatly appreciated.
