now there is something that would make the world jealous...
imagine you place an iso on your xbox hdd and just read/play dare i say even write to that iso...
mmm... i always had a vivid imagination....
 please oh xbmc gods...

xbmc can play dvd isos no problem.
if you mean reading from an iso of something else, why??

well i was more inclined for iso's of anything not just movie iso's...
wilst i dont mean to sound disrespectful.... i believe the question is not why? but rather...
why not?
then implement it.
i think you'll soon agree that such a useless feature isn't worth the effort.

thank you for your feedback on your view on this...
there is one very interesting gain from transfering one single file over ftp (of whatever) that is the transfer speed.. wilst it takes me 5 minutes for a 2.5gb @ 10.948kbps file of some tv recording it takes same 5 minutes for a i.e. 95mb up to 500kbps multiple small files...
one file is much easier to manage/backup then to constantly handle hundreds of files.
there are many more benefits of having a multiple iso read feature such as this implemented, but i am a more of a concept person not a coder otherwise i most definetly would do so...
thanks anyway
if ftp transfer speed is the only reason, may i suggest streaming your media instead?

zip/rar?? compress the files if your worried about multi-files

again thanks for the feedback and suggestions...
streaming wilst a valid point if the pc is switched off well it wont work... hence why a upload....
.rar or .zip files are a great point but you cant read from a .rar or .zip file(s) without decompressing them an iso can be mounted...
works better i think...
so here goes a challenge to the coding gurus of this world... port a virtual drive like i.e. nero imagedrive from pc to xbox... :kickass:
infact microsoft have such a tool (powertoy) winxpvirtualcontrolpanel (http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/b/6/7b6abd84-7841-4978-96f5-bd58df02efa2/winxpvirtualcdcontrolpanel_21.exe) daemontools is also a popular choice for many....
oh i wish i could code.... *:sniffle:
eh,
just make sure you use 'store' (no compression) on the rar or zip and xbmc can read them on the fly...
