View Full Version : CSPAN, CSPAN2, HSN and other live TV
on the cspan website (http://www.c-span.org) they have links to play live streaming broadcasts of c-span channels 1-3. these play streaming using either your choice of realmedia or windowsmedia. my question is, how can i grab this individual link and save it on my xbox as a streamable file so that i can view these via xbmc? i've heard you need to save it as an .strm file but i can only get it saved as an asx and that doesnt even work, someone out there has got to know the correct way to grab and save it... thanks a lot!

your asx file is correct... i mean, this file will not work neither in a .strm file nor 'as is'...
but your asx file is a kind of playlist file. so, just donwload the asx file on your hard drive, open it using notepad or any simple text editor. you'll find your stream link inside this asx file. put this stream link in a .strm file in it will work now
okay i got the stream file: it is http://play.rbn.com/play.asx?url=cspan/cspan/wmlive/cspan1v.asf
now how do i make that a strm file?
1. use notepad...
2. paste the url..
3. save as 'cspan1.strm' (use quotes to avoid a .txt extention)
4. wipe hands on pants
