i was going to suggest this feature but dragonx has beat me to it:

http://sourceforge.net/tracker....1322003 (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=87054&atid=581841&func=detail&aid=1322003)

basically it would be neat if, when browsing a list, you could use the digits on the remote control to jump to a letter. e.g. hitting "2" would jump to "a" on the first press, "b" on the second, and "c" on the third.

does anyone else think this would be useful? i'm not sure how it would work with different sort orders, or how to handle conflicts with definitions in keymap.xml. is this very hard to implement? some of the code should already be in place in the onscreen keyboard.

cheers

incredibly. i would also take it one step further and suggest that it work exactly like most cell phones. if you push the buttons in a fast enough key sequence you can do multiple letters. after some lag period, it resets.

this became such an issue for me, i wrote some scripts on my media stroage machine to partition sym links into alphabetic dirs.

i would welcome this.
