Installing modchip

i`m kind of new 2 this, but i would like to use my xbox as a media senter. in this case, i then have som questions.

i have not chipped my xbox yet, but i`m thinking of getting a aladdin tx or aladdin extreme chip. anyone have experience with this? how big hd does it support? is it possible to connect mye xbox after i have installed the chip, to mye home network?
