been working on this skin for a while now, called it pdm (pr0j3ct d4rk m4tt3r) and is based on the well known pm3 skin, i replaced several things that i didn't like or thought could be done better, and ended up with this.. it still has some issue's cause of recent changes to the skin system, but i'm working on it, you could see it as an early build.

pdm slideshow in homescreen
use your custom images in home, just by selecting them in pdm options.. "customization".

press "black" button for pdm options.. and turn home/menu/media stuff on/off to whatever you want .

slidepanels for contextmenu's and filebrowser, they are 5% transperant so you can still see whats under it when you use it.

edit i (24-dec-2005): skin updated to v1.90, also added new options in "settings" ,where you can customize your home screen and turn stuff on or off.. as you please. use custom images from f:/pictures and they will be visible in home, but there seems to be a problem with oversized files, or pics that are 1600x1200 or higher.. but this will probably be fixed soon, i hope.

edit ii (08-feb-2006): skin updated to v1.99, changed and fixed a lot of things, moved skin options in settings to a new menu "pdm options" , wich is accesable by pressing the "black" button in home, also added the ability to use a slideshow in home while playing media files, visualistation can be turn on/off like many other skin related options.

some of the screens look like a pm2/pm3 hybrid (backgrounds). clean looking but a bit cluttered... still will give this a spin and see how the jury (kids and wife) respond ;)

i like it overall. i do have a few suggestions. personal tastes for most but one for efficiency.

1) i find that on some of the screens where you have this image... http://members.cox.net/affini/dm_logo.jpg

... it looks cluttered with the logo and test "smashed" together.
i suggest ditching the logo on the screens since the color scheme does not match... either use the pm3 oval logo or just the words "xbox media center".

2) personally i think it unnecessary to view the system temp, fan speed and such. guests could care less and it just clutters up the screen. if someone cares that much about those things they need to focus on stabalizing their xbox and less about the skin they are using ;)

i suggest removing the drive space scroller completely. no scrolling at the top. placing the time/date on the top-right and maybe the city, temp, and weather image under it... this is something that all people will care about and an easy place to put it for symetry.

3) the top and bottom accent lines are nice to add character. i would remove the bottom line though and leave the bottom bar alone. having both lines looks like it is "squeezing" the screen. the top one alone would be a nice accent by itself without the squeeze effect.

4) for symetry and efficiency move the bottom buttons to the bottom left where the weather is now. having the buttons on the left allows a single focus point for any/all movements. this is a common usability study issue. no movement of eyes necessary for usage. i could go into it more but trust me on this.. it is better. :p

... this frees up space on the bottom right for more (albiet shortened) rss scrolling feeds if the user wishes. i'd have one additional feed that scrolls on half the screen at the bottom. or whatever other info you want there. this makes the entire right side of the screen an "info" side. again, getting your time, date, and weather all at once... no eye movement.

5) for skinning purposes: use the multiimage for the backgrounds. this will allow people to have a slideshow background... it is cool. i suggest these settings:

<keepaspectratio>false</keepaspectratio>
<randomize>true</randomize>
<visible effect="fade" time="200">

i hope that is not too much to suggest. i do like what you have done. i love the buttonscroller (i made the pm3 a buttonscroller myself for efficiency) and

@ affini : thanks for your feedback, suggestions are always welcome. and yeah i'm also a big fan of the buttonscroller. i like it because you can add as many buttons as you please and it's still using the same amount of space on the screen, instead of the solid buttons like pm3 where you only have 5 and that's it. but sometimes that enough...but not for me. i also like the major updates that has been made so far, like the support of visual tags, etc... i cannot thank the xbmc devs enough for that.

about your suggestions

first of all, i really disliked the oval logo in pm3 as it was taking too much space on the screen, but that's just a personal opinion. that's why i choose to place the xbmc logo instead. you're right about the "xbox media center" label that i placed underneath the logo.. and i decided to remove it from all xml's.

i'm sort of a control freak, and i realy like to view the system stats. but you have a point, if you're saying that not everybody like's it like me and see it all the time. and if they want to see it, there's always the system information menu within xbmc (r-thumbstick).. therefor i removed it from the skin. i also removed the top scrolling system info label, and placed the time/date to the top-right just like you suggested.. the weather stuff is still where it was before, i like it there.

i don't now exactly what you mean with "squeezing" the screen. but when i started photoshopping it, i had the idea to keep the top and bottom symetrical looking and use the full width of the screen, if you know what i mean. and if you compare it with let's say pm3 ,.. you'll notice that my backgrounds (pics,vids,etc) are much wider.

if common usability study shows that it is better, than why are almost all xbmc skins not like this ???
and why do you want all rss feeds underneath eachother, if you can simple place them all after eachother by placing several links in one set.

that's a good one, will see what i can do.
i'm still working on the skin and also enjoying my holiday, but i will update the download link by every major changes that i make.

@ cosycat : didn't you like the slide effects on the volume/seekbar and musicscan @ all ??? , pm3 uses sliding aswell. i was checking out some stuff, and how it looked using the slide effect, but i've changed all the window labels like my music, my vids, etc and let them use the fade effects again, that's much better than sliding in almost every window.

i've also updated the skin, it's now v2.0.. also fixed several other issue's.. see the changelog (http://members.home.nl/smokehead/xbmc/pdm/skin/changelog.txt)for that , enjoy !!

when i ran this (ntsc) it went crazy, are you running pal or ntsc smoke?

i'm running pal mode and i probably replaced the ntsc references file with one for pal. but it doesn't matter anymore, because i've removed all the ntsc folders from my skin. xbmc will autoscale to the right size, if "width" and "height" is set on images. i'm going to check that and fix it wherever neccesary.. and upload it again, when done. thanks for letting me know m8.

edit: just uploaded the new build, would you please be so kind and check it in ntsc mode, and give me a little feedback on any remainig errors since i'm not able to test it myself...that would be great. i also added some new stuff to the "settings" menu thanks to britneyspairs, it's now possible to run your own slideshow in home with images from "f:/pictures"... there are more options for turning things on and off in home and i really like to hear what you guys think of it.

this is a very nice looking skin. props! :thumbsup:

there is really minor issue with the my videos window when you have a playing video file minimized. where it shows the title/name of the video file playing at the bottom, it is outside of the box so to speak. it's a bit hard to describe.

the screen shot will better illustrate this.

notice where is says "the.boondocks..." how it goes outside of the bracket.

i would assume just edit of the myvideos.xml would fix this. i'm ntsc if that matters.

edit: problem with video info is fixed, also killed some bugs like for instance an issue with home backgrounds that where missbehaving.
but i'm still working on a few things like the new "settings" menu and added several new icons.. but will change the icons later probably.

i downloaded your latest build.

i noticed that in settings, descriptions are missing from most of the icon buttons on the left.

the reason i asked is because i can't change from icon view to big icon view.

i didn't want you to remove anything. just make it possible to choose. but i take it from your comment that it should be possible ?

the only place i can switch between big icon view and icon view is in my programs.

@ jazzen : thanks m8,... if you want any custom images to show up in home you must first of all enable the option for it in settings menu. the path of custom images is set to f:/pictures in home.xml. if you have that it should be working.. if you have no pictures folder on f:/, i suggest you edit home.xml located in the skin folder and change the path of the multiimages to whatever path needed... i will take a look at it and see if multipath is possible.

about your button problem... there are no buttons missing..only the text labels, they get there info from the language file... so if you didn't replaced the files it gets no info. so use the language folder that i suplied with pdm skin, and then it must work correct, same problem as ghostdog__ had earlier, gl.

i'm sorry. :blush: it was probobly a change in xbmc that did it. if i have switch icon view atomatic on. then i can't change icon view.

that used to be possible.

your skin works fine.

now i loaded ur skin and the images was there... but when i swap skin and go back to yours its gone again.... then i have to reboot :(

what exactly did you do ?? .. please keep in mind that both multiimage controls need to be set to the right path,.. if i leave custom image option on in settings and switch between skins, it will show the images in path folder when i go back to pdm.. so here it works absolutly fine, also keep in mind that pics of 1600x1200 and above will not be visible because an unknown bug.

i dont think its fair to expect people to replace their language files, be requiring your own your causing people to become out of sync with the cvs. language files should not be part of the skin me thinks?

perhaps a internal skin strings.xml system should be developed

did a bunch of 16x9 fixes, thanks to sollie for testing feedback, also did quiet some other fixes aswell. labels do now contain the english text so the language files are no longer needed. bumped version number back from v2.0 to v1.90, cause it's not yet defined what v2.0 is.

great skin smokehead.

i`ve been a pmiii skin user untill recently when i discovered your pdm skin, and i`ve been using it all the time.

there is one thing i don`t like and that is the xbmc logo. i know i can turn it off from the settings but then something seems missing from that part of the screen. this is just my own opinion, you and other people may
disagree with me.

i was wondering if you could make the logo user changeable, so i could put a different logo there ?

using widescreen(16x9) display, radio button effect in the settings screen does not work
in \pal16x9\settings.xml, maybe you omitted some codes related to radio button effect like this...

<animation effect="fade" time="0">visiblechange</animation>.

i can see this code in \pal\settings.xml, but not in \pal16x9\settings.xml.

@ epoke: you are right, but it doesn't matter, cause as the time="0" you wil not see the animation, because 0 seconds is to fast to see :d .
but i can change it to lets say 100 or 150 milliseconds... will do that in the build of tommorow and see how that looks.

@ b4tm4n: don't you like the xbmc logo?.. hmmm will take a look and see how to get it done.
about the missing playlist button in mymusic,..you are right, it is gone but it is in libview and thats not the case with myvideos,
untill myvideos get something similar like music library, the button will be there i guess.

thanks smokehead found the playlist button in library view, i use the file view because i`ve got all my music files sorted into their own album folder on my pc.

about the logo i did replace the home page one to see how it would look with pmiii logo, it scaled it automatically;

i changed the png refered to in the home.xml to another, but doing it this way would take ages changing all the xml and then having to do it again when the skin was updated.
if the logo wasn`t in the texture.xpr and just on it own in the media folder then it would be just a simple case of changing the png one of your own.

epoke: i gave the radiobuttons a visual effect, they will now use fading effects when turned on/off... when switching on time="200" and off time="500".. hope you like it this way,..cause i do.. this is also in build of 21-jan, please keep in mind that i'm still working on some stuff, and there might be some issues.

great just the ticket i can mess around with logos till i find one i like.

i`d like to make one more suggestion then i`m done. when a video is playing and you press the white button to bring up the seek bar, theres not much info there. would it be possible to add like the total time of the movie, whats left and the time (of the day).

the multi-image makes it impossible for the hdd to spin down.
is there a way to get the old logo back, so the hdd can shutdown while in "menu"-mode ?

grote002: sorry but nothing has changed ..as far as i know ..since the logo is multiimage (pm3 an lots of other skins use this on there home backgrounds so i see no problem).
if you don't like it than why don't you let it only use 1 image ? .just delete/rename one of them. or turn it off completely.

one suggestion i would add is when you bring up the video osd, i would like to see the name of the video file, or if the video was scanned using imdb, show the movie title, thumbnail poster image, year, director, etc similar to what you see in the meedio hdtv skins video osd. i've customized some of the skins i use to show this. i've also added this info to show when you press the show time button.
i think it's a better idea to keep them seperate from video osd and use "black" or "white" buttons to bring up the media info's just like it is done with all the info's all over the skin, and give users the choice if they want to bring it up or not..instead of having the info's displayed all the time, maybe you like it that way, but lots of other users prefer to have it clean.

have you also thought about maybe changing the look of the video osd?
yes, i have... but didn't have the time to work it out in photoshop yet, but finally it will be changed i think.

as the qwerty order only works when the layout is qwerty too. otherwise my poor brain can't cope ;)

one other thing, you are using the home buttons but i don't seem to be able to add/edit/remove any of them like you normally can (throught the gui). i have seen they are in home.xml so will adjust in here. don't understand why you are not using the standard ones that are in the xboxmediacenter.xml and can be adjusted through the gui.

otherwise it looks great (mostly, there is always ways to improve :cool: )

and the layout isn't qwerty or what are you trying to say ? i have used multiple keyboards since i'm into computing ,and you know what..? i never ever have seen any abc layouts, this is unnatural if you ask me... i think it's fine the way it is right now, you must understand that i cannot satisfy everybodies wishes, but there's always an alternative: use the file from pm3.

taken from xbmc changelog: - 11-12-2005 changed: moved the buttonscroller button list into the skin.

this is done with a specifik reason.. if you add your own buttons to xboxmediacenter.xml it would affect all skins, but since the buttons are in the skin, only 1 skin uses them.. and the whole contextmenu doesn't work anymore in home.. but since you're not reading any changelog you probably didn't noticed untill now.

i do understand that you cant statify everyone, just thought i would put my opinion for your reference!

when i say qwerty layout i mean make it look like a keyboard (letters not directly under each other). i also am in the it proffesion and you are right, alphabetical layouts are only used on consoles, but seeing i use my console i do use them and therefore my reasoning. but i have copied the xml from pmiii so i am now happy chappy :)

i do read the change log but must have skipped over it as pmiii uses fixed buttons and i hadn't found a better skin. have changed in home.xml so all is good again.

don't use controller for media other than games so will never get to see it :( pity the codec info cannot be combined with aspect control information leaving the remote info button free :)

i just dl'd the 25th jan version and gave it a quick test:

* trainer options doesnt open, but ui seems to think it does
* there's a tiny delay to seeking, probably due to the time it takes for the control to slide out.

these bugs may already bee fixed, but just in case i thought i'd mention it

yes i know, allready added the xored stuff the same day after i uploaded the build of the 25th, but i had a lot of work with some menu stuff and i couldn't upload it again cause some parts were a complete mess, but that is fixed now..

any chance of me getting the raw media files? don't want to copy or reuse, just would help me test out my skin editor. the more skins i can test it with the better it will be. yours seems to be the only up to date one that uses button scroller and i am working on implement that control now that the buttons are in the actual xml file and not the main xml file.

if so let me know or else its no big deal they are your images. i will not release any images if you do decide to let me have them.

there is a minor cosmetic issue with the latest build. in most of the settings screens, there is a misplaced black "speed" button in the background in the main blue section.

fixed the home backgrounds that were not visible anymore when "visualisation" was disabled, it also works great with custom images, so now you can watch your picture collection slide-by when playing media files... enjoy

i`d like to make one more suggestion then i`m done. when a video is playing and you press the white button to bring up the seek bar, theres not much info there. would it be possible to add like the total time of the movie, whats left and the time (of the day).

just downloaded the v1.99 skin and i`m finding that what ever theme i choose in appearance the home pics don`t change to the new set. i`m sure they used to, but if i`m wrong let me know.

hmm, this is strange, i did indeed change the home background stuff (moved visiblity tags to includes.xml) , but everything is working, i did test it myself, maybe something else is wrong.

first things first: this is an awesome skin. i installed it yesterday and it goes very well with my 55vf820 rear porjection lcd tv.

the question that i have is that with the regular project mayhem iii when you press the black button on the gamepad, while you are watching a video you can see the cpu, resolution, codec being used, etc.). with this skin, what button is assigned to the gamepad to display that information?

normally it would be the same buttons used by slideshow and fullscreen visualisation ("black"=codec, "white"=media info), but somehow it doesn't work correct with videos .. i know for sure that i used the correct code for it, so i guess something is wrong in cvs.

i removed those buttons a while ago, cause all the other menu's use less buttons,.. but when you are in myprograms it can be found by simply pressing the "b (red)" button, i didn't removed any functionality only the buttons that weren't really necesary.

pdm is seems pretty good... but i noticed one small annoying thing.... when changing the movie aspect ratio or whatever with the y-button.... it doesn't show the name of the ratio setting "normal", "zoom" etc.

so it's harder to tell which one is the normal one (i only use this feature when i accidentaly press the button)...

- 17-02-2006 changed : music/videooverlay.xml media info labels to better fit within the [ and ]'s, for pal16x9..,4x3 seems okay.
- 17-02-2006 fixed : when changing the movie aspect ratio with the y-button.... it doesn't show ratio info (videofullscreen.xml).
- 17-02-2006 added : list.item thumbs code to mymusicnav.xml for pal4x3 and pal16x9, cause it was missing.
- 16-02-2006 added : empty "home pictures" folders to skin/media .. for people who want to add-in there own set of images.
- 16-02-2006 fixed : state of libview wasn't remembered, when going from mymusic to home and back to mymusic again.

infact it will take the same amount of time, and the same amount of button presses as the old one.. and it will save button pressings if l+r trigger is working in buttonscroller, then it will be as fast as you can scroll lists, just give it some time. and don't forget this is a beta skin.. so everything is still possible, if you want final stuff go and visit allxboxskins.net or something.

if you want pm3 stuff i suggest you go and use that.

for some reason, the grid layout just really appeals to me, and i think the icons are super nice. maybe you could have the settings layout be user-controllable? like you could pick from two or three different layouts? er, wait, would that mean you have to update and maintain them all independently?
anyways, you totally rock, smokey! that skin is pretty much awesome, and now that i got all my friends into xbmc, i will totally have to show them this one! it actually seems more usable to me than pm3, because of the built-in skin controls and such.

also, one of my buddies has a crapload of photography from his adventures in europe, so i'm hoping i will be able to find some good stuff in his collection to use as background images. are there any like user-made collections of background images online?

maybe when it's done the right way, it will look pretty cool,.. this also would look cool on thumb panel icon/list ..maybe a 10%-20% zoom effect for the thumb you're selecting,would be awesome. and maybe have a new tag for it (thumb/list panel) so it only uses the effect when specified in references.xml so people can decide wheter they want to use it or not.

a nice effect for buttonscroller + list/icon panels (have zoom effects per line).., eg:

line1 --> 5% zoom
line2 --> 10% zoom
line3 --> 15% zoom <--focused one
line4 --> 10% zoom
line5 --> 5% zoom
something like this would be cool to see in the next version of pdm :nod:

very nice skin, guys. but i may have a similar issue to the last post.

i've chosen the skin from the settings menu, when i exit back up through the menus to xbmc's main screen, i no longer can execute any option.

ie music -i highlight the music option, press the centre button on my standard remote control, *the background bmp goes, and nothing happens. if i press the menu button to go back up, the background reappears.

but none of the functions work, music, video, settings, exit, scripts: none of them. the only way out is to ftp in, delete most of the skin files and reboot to force it to load the default skin.

i thought perhaps my home setting in the xboxmediacenter.xml was wrong, but it checks out ok *<home>e:\apps\xbmc\</home>.

what am i doing wrong? is this an obvious error?

the new settings style isn't working.. it hang's in the option screen, and no text is showing.

i've overwritten the old settings.xml from the 17-feb build, and with that settings menu i've set the option: use pmiii style settings.
after that, i've placed the original 21-feb back, and i could use the pmiii settings menu, with the updated settings.xml http://forum.ftd.nu/images/smilies/worshippy.gif

so thats a little bug.

i've got one question left:
theres an option to use custom backgrounds, placed in f:\pictures\
you can also place pictures in the media folder, for example: pic games.
can you make an option to use the pictures in pic games, without using the original backgrounds ? like the halo for example.

if you can make that, the custom backgrounds option is also (overbodig, don't know the english word, but you understand me smokehead), and the advantage of this option is, that you can place custom images for backgrounds for different types of menu options, like pic games backgrounds...

maybe you can implement an option like this..
it has great advantages, and in my opinion no disadvantages.

use 'classic' settings menu is not enabled..
also on the sides appears the new settings menu, but not on foreground :p.
i'm using xbmc 20-feb-2006.

the classic settings menu works fine, my compliments :agree:.

ps, the text at the icons in the settings menu (classic) is overlapping eachother (check pic above), an option is to give the icons more space, so there will be more space for the text labels.

best format is bmp (loads way quicker than jpg or png).

best size for pdm is probably 512x256. this sounds low, but with the "blinds" overlay etc. it'll be more than enough i think you'll find.

if you make it 513x257 it'll use 4x the memory (xbox textures are power of 2 dimensions).

you can push it to 512x512 or 1024x512 if you want, though ofcourse that won't be used. the actual space it's sitting in is 720x362 according to the code you posted.

amazing skin! my new default. one comment, i love the "new" styling for the system menu, any possible way that i can use this way of selecting in all menu's? i would love if i could turn that off or on for each of my menu's, movies and games would look so much better when selecting.

same issue here gaogao, but i think its was intended to be empy on the new releases of pdm in order to have custom backgrounds of your choice. i really liked the home backgrounds on the previous releases and i have no time to search for custom images. is there possibly an option to enable the old background images instead of having blanks? or are they already suppose to be there and were just not seeing them??...

for me, the latest pdm skins are not showing background pictures in the home page for all entries in the left menu, while i have background pictures when going into the two buttons on the lower right right corner.
if i replace the latest build with an old pdm skin build i have all the background pictures as it should be.
i have also reset pdm settings with the new reset switch.
the latest working build for me is 0398.

i am using the latest cvs build of xbmc.

the skin probably still uses old settings from previous pdm build(s), and thus you have the custom background option still on, but you didn't point out any folder that contains images on your xbox hdd that needs to be visible in home ... two things you can do:

1) reset all setings : press black in home, goto other options >> reset skin settings (pdm default)
2) specify images : press black in home, goto home options >> disable "use custom images slideshow" or specify a folder with images in "customisation menu"

the default background images do not show when disabling "custom images", while custom images appear if i specify a folder with images. by disabling custom images i am still getting black backgrounds.

any further test i can perform here?

same problem as gaogao..
i'm running ntsc 720p 16x9..
i compared the feb 22 build against the mar 3 build of home.xml in the 16x9 folder, when i removed all info tags that had skin.string in them the default backgrounds show. ex.<info>skin.string(games)</info>
also the system info bar is not scrolling.
any suggestions smokehead.

yes, you guys probably run the latest t3ch build from (2006-02-26), and there were some changes to the way multiimages work on (28-02-2006 changed: multiimages with blank <info> fallback to the <imagepath> path.) i don't use t3ch releases, i have my own (almost on a daily basis) so that explains a lot.

it's been a little while since the last update, cause i was busy with other stuff.. and fixing things :)
if you happen to find any bugs please report them to me, and i will fix them. also there were some changes to cvs recently so having the latest xbmc build (t3ch) is always good and reported to work. you will notice that there were some changes to contextmenu's, filebrowser and musicscan, but musicscan is not done, i'm thinking of making something new or changing back to the old way, cause now it takes all screen and making navigating while scanning to database a bit harder than it was before.. if you have idea's about this or something else, just post it.

removed : pm iii chatpanel image from xlink kai, also changed the height of the chat console a bit to fit better.
fixed : music covers in musicvisualisation.xml and slideshow.xml (pal16x9) were not shown in the right size.
fixed : when using music info in home (pal16x9) the cover wasn't shown, removed the <aspectratio>scale</aspectratio>.
fixed : covers/previews were over buttons in settingscatagory (16x9), visible in menu's with less than 5 buttons.

hi there, just noticed on the movie info page when you press the cast button no cast info appears. its working in the pmiii skin. also the cover image that appears on the bottom left is zoomed in and cuts of some of the image, its ok in the music section because the pic are square and they fit perfectly but in the movie section the pics are rectangle so they lose parts of the image. hope that made sense to you.

i kinda like the new context menu but your right it dosn`t work in music scan. could the panel swing out if view untill its finished scanning, you could have just the progress bar at the bottom left on screen.

me did some more fixes, uploaded a new build :)

fixed : settings menu wasn't obeying the fade out effect when using menu vis, added <include>menueffect</include>.
removed : <timeperimage>,<fadetime>,<randomize> of multiimages in home.xml (4x3,16x9), and moved them into includes.xml.
removed : font,textcolor,align,scroll tags of systemstatbar in all xml's, and moved them over into in includes.xml
fixed : menu buttons were not fading away when using visualisation in menu's, changed the <include> order in all xml's.
fixed : dvd covers that are shown when using info in videofullscreen.xml (pal) were not displayed in the correct size.
fixed : black info panel shown in videofullscreen.xml (white button) was not displaying correct.

musicscan in home
i said earlier that musicscan was not done yet when it used the big slidepanel, i decided to go back to the old way and use the old slidebar wich show current actions and current path, and moved the progress control a bit around so it would use the top image bar of menu's/homescreen.. just like the time progress in home when you play a song or movie file.

i love the mods... the little things are what make it great like the progress bar and such.

i still stick with the original pm3 since i like the images better (menu layout, colors, etc) but if you decided to include the original buttons and backgrounds in your skin i'd definitely use it.

yes i know, somebody allready reported it.. it's because the script uses images and stuff that are located in the textures.xpr file, but since my images have other filenames some stuff doesn't work.. best way was that the scripters would add there own images, so that it always works in every skin, but i guess they don't care.

btw. me did some testing on the vertical volumebar for fs stuff today :

i'm using the 3/12/06 t3ch build and the lasted pdm and everything seems to work ok except when i go to my programs the menu on the left is missing emulators,programs and dvd-game buttons that are on the pm3 skin. xlink kai is there and it is showing my emulators but that is it. i need the dvd-game button to run the trainers. any idea?

once your on the games page press the b butoon on your game pad and you`ll find what your looking for. i dont know which button it is on a remote, sorry.
to load trainers highlight your game and press the white button and then trainer settings. you have to have a recent xbmc build.

if you take a look at for example the project mayhem skin ..you notice that there are 7 buttons in "my games" menu, and that is a bit to much for pdm cause the menu's only support up to 6 buttons if you use more they will be under the music/video cover/preview or the listitem thumb depends on what options you use ..and that is not nice to look at, for pal16x9 there are only 5, but i could be wrong.. so theres still some space for 2 or 3 buttons, ..i think i do appz, emu's and dvd-game.. this will be in the next build.

i think? (null) i supposed to be a percentage in latest cvs but is not functioning quite right... might be wrong but im sure i glanced at some code and seen the word percentage somewhere. same happens in pm3 so the (null) is not skin related.

thanks for the suggestion b4tm4n, unfortunately it didn't make any difference. it works if i add a separate button to the home screen - i've used one of the kai buttons (id=159) and the visible tag works (using player.hasaudio). i guess it's just not valid in a buttonscroller?

i did indeed change some stuff on how the label works.. but what you mean with not scrolling like it used to ?, it scrolls perfectly here.

i did that with a reason ,because when i would keep aspect ratio then there would be black bars on the left and right side of the thumbs, and that would look like arse compared to my pics/my music listitems thumb.

thanks for the awesome skin. i think i have the same problem as the previous post...

on the settings page with the horizontal scrolling icons, when i click to scroll left or right, the animation happens but there is also a copy of the icon that stays centered and then pops off once the animation is done.

does that make sense? thanks for the help.

also... i don't have text labels for each icon. is this normal or should there be text associated with each icon?

blimey, just stumbled on this skin by mistake, very nice skin.

for some reason i can't get rss feed to work, when enabled it does nothing, i am using xbmc compiled 25.03.06. and using your pdm skin also 25.03.06

don't know if it's just me, but with your recent builds, i no longer get any video info when i press the info button. i can only get this feature to work if take the "videofullscreen.xml" from an older build (feb 26 is the date of the xml file that works fine). i've compared both xml's, and i can't really see any differences, so i'm not sure what's going on. i'm using a mar 25 build of xbmc.

smoke, would just like to drop a line of appreciation, as a xbmc user and a graphic design student.

the design is fluent and extremely well balanced, it flows perfects, i really like it.

i feel it would make a great bundled skin, i just cant wait to get an adapter to plug the xbox into my vga hdready tv and view it at 720p, im sure i will get the full justice then.

keep up the great work, strong design.

clarifying my comment wasn't a jab at either skin. it is obvious to see the features of pdm are very media friendly, and mc360 looks more gaming oriented by the trailer.

hi

i have a recurring problem with the background images in home not displaying, can someone explain what i am doing wrong/ can i fix this myself in an .xml? i'm using pdm 0486 ,27 march. i've just updated to e k b xbmc dated 23 march and there's no change. is this broken until xbmc 2.0 etc is out?

in the pdm options\customisations\ i have 'show custom images' unchecked. if i check it and then play with the paths and options below it will show images of my choice once set for each home option but i'd rather have the defaults working.

i had also deleted the 'face' temp folders when upgrading.

i'm sure you know but the options on that page overlap so i may be missing an obvious answer.

i have to say first off that i love your skin. i have a slight issue though and was hoping to get a little help. one feature that i do like from pm3 is the "big list" view in movies and music. i've noticed that you have that view enabled for music albums and such, but in the movie view it isnt a option. i've attempeted to copy the control and throw it into myvideotitle.xml and myvideo.xml from mymusicnav.xml but it still wont show up on the button to choose as a option. is there anything i can do for this?

i absolutely love this skin. i've been using it for months now.

but as of the april 22 build, all the nice colour touches have been removed from it. the green xb in xbmc, the bright blue background in the list view, ...

it looks as drab as pm3 now. don't get me wrong, i can see that pm3 is an incredibly well designed skin, but i always found it too dark. seeing that pdm is now moving toward monochrome dullness as well is very disappointing.

maybe you could put the colour back in in a skin theme? would be very grateful for that.

in any case, thanks for all the hard work you've obviously put into a fantastic skin.

0519 - 20-04-2006 added * : xbmc logo now changes colors depending on wich color you use for menu's, you can set this in includes (4x3,16x9).

you can change the colours to whatever you want just open up the includes.xml and read what it says.

i'm using the xbmc.cvs.24-apr-2006.e-k-b build, and everything looks f*cked up!

i've done everything, also removed my xbmc settings but nothing worked..

the only skin which looks good is pm3.
before i'd no problems with your new skin build, but after upgrading to the 24-april xbmc build, and downloading your pdm build 0522 (22-apr-2k6) everything is messed up..

i have a private ftp/http/whatever account with 15gb traffic/month. would that be enough to host pdm? i'm using it myself and i love it and i would realy like to contribute something to it.
normaly i use about 100mb of my traffic so there are at least 14,5gb left for pdm.

the newest version of pdm is build 522 (online) will be updated when i regain acces to my webspace again, and about the 720p vertical volume issue.. loto_bak fixed this, and it's in pdm build 547 and above. you can pm him or me for the fix.....

i'm using the 4-27 build, back when the buttons were still around. the skin is 4-22 and the dash is 4-27.
