Automated backup script?

i want to backup my media to a smb share or ftp on a nas. i have heard that this can only be done with a python script.

is this true?

if so, can someone direct me to where one is already developed or work with me to develop one?

this would be a great feature.

sounds like a good idea except for me having a 250g drive and it would have to be done by either ftp into the box and copy it out or have the xbox copy the drive out to a smb share. i only have 80g left.... so sending f would take forever and a day.
