if your interested in football, this might be for you?

the script that gathers everything football related from the bbc website.

features;
all uk leagues. tables, news, fixtures, results, squads and profiles.
audio/video interviews.
live videprinter/scores/text.
photo galleries.
radio 5live/xtra streaming.

get it from xbmcscripts.com (http://www.xbmcscripts.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=search_result&itemid=array&search_mode=phrase&search_phrase=football) or install directly to xbmc using the xbmcscripts script.

no script editing/setup required.

let me know if you find any bugs/crashes (usually caused by site html changes that breaks the regex).

cheers

would it be possible to add internet streams of games to this script from a site such as this online premiership games (http://www.fltv.cc/)? not sure whether these type of sites are actual legal or not. any comments?

BigBellyBilly
2006-01-12, 00:59
not seen that site before,.
is it a subscription only site or are the streams protected?
can the xbmc stream winamp vp62 format streams ??
got a sample file ? update: yes it can.

update: streams are locked with drm, unless someone knows different, i dont think it would be possible.

i've recently added some overscan adjustment code to mytv and i was planning on including it into football script.

have also found this site online matches (http://www.footballon.net/)which only requires a single annual payment of £4.50 via paypal. would it be possible to write a script which could log you on and stream the match?

BigBellyBilly
2006-01-13, 12:35
quite possibly. i'd need access myself inorder to dev such a thing, maybe you could pm me your logon details ?
do you have any sample stream urls ?
are they drm protected ?

another site (http://satellite-online.co.uk/) @ £4.95 too offering footbal (plus adult).

a simple system which holds user/pass against a url might work, then it could store several sites.

deanrparry : 'list control' problem. can you explain more , i've not seen it.

overscan adjustment is being added.

C-Quel
2006-01-13, 14:37
yes there is a problem with the list in both mytv 1.10 & 1.11 <config menu> and football <results listings any team>

BigBellyBilly
2006-01-14, 02:49
is it the new reported xbmc bug of thumbnail image appearing inbetween label1 & label2 instead of on the left side ?

i'm running a late oct build and i dont see it myself.
what build/date are you running?

BigBellyBilly
2006-01-20, 14:56
as yet, i've not found any 'live streams' that arnt protected and are suitable for direct access/streaming from the script.

has anybody else?

i've worked on v1.1 of the script which adds;

live on tv schedule list.
moved the non-league specific options to the mainmenu (fivelive, photo galleries etc)
added config menu - with option to adj. overscan.

this is ready for release unless someone knows of some streaming urls, inwhich case i'll hold off and work that in too ?

C-Quel

naaa drop the streams mate most of the time its hit & miss with them anyway... i think the script provides everything a footy fanatic needs. live videoprinter is ample.

i've uploaded v1.1 of football to xbmcscripts about a week ago, hasnt appeared yet and no word from site ppl ... ?

i have the latest 1.1 football script now, and i am using the latest compile of xbmc (todays build).

brilliant script, but i am having a problem when ever i select league news or club news, it loads up the news but then you can't go any further, you can't carry on with any other menu selections and it ends up locking up.

version 1 was doing this as well just lately, so it may be because of a new xbmc compile. i have done several over the last few days, maybe somethings changed in it that affects this script, don't know ?

anyway as long as i don't select these two news buttons everything else is fine.

again great script.... :)

script now up on xbmcscripts.com (http://www.xbmcscripts.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=search_result&itemid=array&search_mode=phrase&search_phrase=football%20v1.1)

changes:

live on tv schedule list.

added config menu - with option to adj. overscan.

@bigbellybilly

would it be possible to use this site for football league tables etc:

www.goalzz.com

every league under the sun seems to be on it, too much information seems to be on it tbh!

BigBellyBilly
2006-03-06, 11:38
i hadnt intended the script to cover anything more than uk football. the whole script is geared around the bbc pages. but i'll have a look into it for you.
is it just the european leagues your interested in ?

kaisersose
2006-03-06, 18:42
your football script has everything i need tbh. that site might be useful for someone who wants to do a script for their own favourite leagues etc.

I've just downloaded and started using this script - it's absolutely amazing:grin: !! I have just one small issue, and I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing. When I look at news feeds for any particular club, the news appears on top of the news headline list, and is not legible. Should the headlines dissapear when you select one to read, or should the news content have somekind of opaque backdrop?:oo:

Using Football 1.1 when you click on a news headline the story appears over the top of the headlines making all the text mix together.

It's the only thing that is preventing this from being one of the most useful scripts ever! :(

Its a minor problem caused by the script not being able to find the graphics file its using for the menu background panel.

Its looking for '"dialog-invite.png"

You could edit footballLibrary.py and change "dialog-invite.png" to be "dialog-panel.png" (which is a xbmc standard file)

OR

Put a file called "dialog-invite.png" into the scripts 'system' folder.
I suggest you take "dialog-panel.png" from any of my other scripts (eg myTV, tv.com)

The script is due an overhaul to make it comply xbmcscripts.com and to bring it uptodate with my latest libraries (MC360 support etc).

Nice to see someone beside me still using it!

Thanks I've grabbed the dialog-panel.png from your MyTV script. I'm using PM3. I'll try it at home when I get back :)

Yes I use it, I bet many more people do too - it's a brilliant script - I don't need to use teletext anymore!

Any ideas :oo:

Edit system\footballLibrary.py to change the reference of "dialog-invite.png" to "dialog-panel.png"

try that

It should find that in the standard PMIII xpr, but it will do no harm to put the file in system folder too.

I think I'll still overhaul it.

As it relies on scraping the BBC site, there may be areas that might be broken now. If you could compile a list of broken (or even suggestions) I'll take them into account when I do it?

cheers

I'll have a look to see what other problems I can find, not really used it because until the fix it was pretty useless to me...

I did notice that it pulls in data that you can't access like links to "909 Have your Say" but I don't consider that to be a problem...

What sort of issues were you meaning?

beebul
2007-03-23, 14:37
One thing I did notice when testing last night is that it is difficult to quit from... sometimes the back button doesn't respond properly. Might be an idea to add a quit button or something...?

If I spot anything else I will post, but it's still a really usable and useful script :cool2:

This is an awesome script in itself, but I'm not a major fan of the bbc-version. I figure you won't change anything when you've come this far, but livescore.com has imo a better design, and footballresults.org seems really nice too. I couldn't fins Sweden covered in the bbc-script, maybe that's why I'm not too interested in the bbc one. Great script otherwise!!!

BigBellyBilly
2007-04-11, 17:49
livescore.com is fine for a simple results service but I found the BBC site had more indepth information, such as Team Squad members profiles, Gossip, Live ScoreText right down to non league sides and good video interviews.

Are there some features of those sites that the BBC (or script) doesnt have, maybe I can added them as a bolt-on mainmenu option, like I have done for LiveSportOnTv.com ?

BigBellyBilly
2007-04-11, 17:51
Sorry, I now realise you were referring to more indepth 'non uk' teams.

gronne
2007-04-11, 18:33
Yeah, actually I did find Sweden and the rest of Europe covered(if only extremely briefly)on bbc, but it seems you haven't added "europe" for some reason in your script.

BigBellyBilly
2007-04-12, 19:03
The other europe teams didnt fit into the normal url structure, but I've altered code to accomodate them.

Also working changing script to allow selecting a DataSource, which should give better coverage of european leagues (from http://www4.soccerstand.com/ as FootballResults.org seems to redirect to it)

Also fixed Photo gallery.

Should release it soon hopefully.

New v1.3 released.

Contains requested features:

1) Added European Leagues.
2) Switchable datasource between BBC and SoccerStand.com (limited to Results but covers more European leagues).

Hope that helps anyone with an interest outside of UK football.

Just in time for the end of the season.

Version Date Change
v1.5 20-04-08
Fix: Large change for code to use language string ID's not the string itself as was causing hangs.
Fix: Some scraping due to recent bbc site changes.
Fix: Some MainMenu options (eg Five Live)
New: Maltese language translation (thanks Michel)
New: Setting option to set content information font size.
v1.4 18-03-08
Fix: Data retrieval in several areas (all datasources) caused by web site html changes.
New: Language support (German, Swedish incl. - More translations wanted!)
New: Script update support
New: Saves settings to UserData

As the bbc site is undergoing some changes some areas of the script may break sooner rather than later, let me know if you find anything.

As part of their changes a lot of the video content is now embedded within news pages instead of discoverable within their old popup media player. I've not managed to extract the new embedded video stream yte, if anyone knows how to, let me know?

thanks

Fixes League and Club Live text.

Seems to be an update bug in v1.5 so you'll might have to manually install this after downloading from XBMCScripts.com (http://www.xbmcscripts.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=search_result&Itemid=Array&search_mode=phrase&search_phrase=Football%20v1.5.1)
