i dunno if the idea has come up already or i just havent done enough homework, but would it be possible to write a program that would either reboot your machine to a linux distro of some sort, equipped with a usb tv tuner driver, or just maybe get a usb tv tuner driver and capture program working for the debian build out? i'm gonna look into this as i have the resources to write the driver. if a capture program and driver could be written for the native 2k kernel, that would be ideal but.. food for thought.. or flaming i suppose

this is only about the 10000000000th time the question has been asked.

yes you probably can boot into linux and use your xbox as a pvr. there is a linux/freevo project on sourceforge and also gentoox now has freevo installed. i believe there are some drivers for the hauppauge wintv pvr capture device, though they are probably limited.
