hello.

i've made this feature request at sourceforge.net and am cross-posting it here:

i noticed this in the changelog:

28-10-2005 changed: show current bitrate for vbr mp3 instead of average bitrate. (needs new madcodec.dll, also works with renamed in_mp3.dll)

i use my own customized musicvisualisation.xml that shows additional infomation, including bitrate of the current track that is playing. showing average bitrate makes more sense because it gives you an idea of the general quality of a vbr track. with the change above, when i hit the info button on the remote, the bitrate display just constantly changes mostly between 192, 224, 256 and 320 for vbr mp3. as the bitrate for vbr mp3 actually changes every frame (roughly every 23rd of a second), showing a sampling that refreshes every half-second or whater is pretty useless. in fact, i honestly can't understand why this change was made to begin with.

winamp offers the ability to show current or average bitrate as an option. it would be excellent if xbmc did the same.

thanks!

it was a result of a change that was needed to get bitrate information from internet streams.

and now vbr mp3's show average bitrate again.
