Wmv too many early frames ?

i have created a script which can trigger little movies from www.6pack.tv. most of these clips are wmv files and any file that is being played through the script starts to play very fast after a couple of seconds (like fastforward) but the sound is keeping the correct speed. when i look at the videodata in xbmc, i see loads of early frames coming in.

how does this happen ?

does xbmc.player() still trigger mplayer ?
