View Full Version : Embedded mp3 art
what do i have to do to get the cover to show instead of the default folder icon when browsing cd:s.
i have 1 cd that does this... the rest only display the cd cover when i play the file and those i've made myself using tag & rename software.
so i guess my question is: why does cover art only diplay when playing and not as the folder icon for the folder where the mp3s are.
if you're in files view, embedded album art will only display for the file, not the folder. this is by design because you could have 10 different albums in a single folder, each with a different cover... which one would be displayed then??
try running a scan... that *may* randomly pick one and cache it as the folder's icon, i dont really remember. and if not, aleast you can use the library view.
the best thing to do to get folder icons is to either put a folder.jpg file inside the folder, or put a foldername.tbn file along side the folder (in the parent folder.)
if all your mp3 files have album art embedded in them then you can use the java program i wrote awhile ago to extract the files and place them in the correct directories for your entire music collection.
it makes some assumptions for the picture that it uses for a folder (it takes the first file in the folder and uses its picture for the folder)..
check my signature for the media center utils.

i got it! just erased all xbmc "saves" in ms dash and updated my xbmc to latest cvs (xbmc-cvs_2005-08-23-t3ch.rar).
after running "scan" all the albums that have "art" embedded in mp3 show the art instead of the default folder image.
