hello all,

please forgive me as i am a little new to these forums.
i have recently added xbmc to my xbox and it appears to run fine. but after loading a few movies to the hard drive and trying to view them in my videos they stop after a few seconds of playing. one stops after 3 seconds, one stops after 4 minutes and still has 20 minutes to go. one stops after 1 minute and 4 seconds with 90 minutes to go. some are .mpg and some are .avi. is there a setting i am missing? any help is greatly appreciated. i apologize if this topic is already posted, i looked around a little but maybe i missed it.

without more info, you wont get any help... enable debugging by holding down x+y while loading xbmc, play some of these files to get them to stop, and then post your xbmc.log file.

also make sure that you test a build of the very latest cvs of xbmc

thanks kraqh3d and gamester17,

i can hit x+y when loading and see what that does. i'll have to look and see if i can find that log file. i will read the manual a little more and see what i can find. i barely looked at the .xml file before loading. i had to put in the directory location. maybe there is more in there i need to look at.
kraqh3d, what information more do i need to give?
any help is greatly appreciated. this program is one of the coolest things i have ever seen. i would reccomend people buy an xbox just to run this. incredible.

kraqh3d-
with the 08.23.2005 build of xbmc, you're videos aren't stopping. mine is doing the same thing. i can watch one, maybe 2 small videos, i can probably watch one larger movie the first time i load xbmc. where is this .log file located and why is it so important in fixing the problem?

this happens with me too, using 8.23.2005 build. this problem only happens on my large widescreen hdtv, and the videos play fine on a regular tv. for this reason, i can't get a .log without attaching the xbox to my hdtv again. :/

what's the .log?

good day all,

okay, i have found the .log file and when i hit y+x as i am loading xbox media center i see text at the top of the screen. so now i need to try and repeat my problem, exit out of xbox media player. then i download my .log file, which i see in the main directory. i then open it with a text editor and then...i should cut and paste it to these forums? i think i can handle that. just out of curiosity what am i looking for? i would guess some kind of error about something. again any help or guidance is appreciated. what is the best reference material to read on xbox media player?

hello all,

well it looks like my problem went away. i forgot to mention that i had not upgraded my hard drive yet. i did that yesterday and now the movies all seem to play all the way through. thanks for all the help.
