i tried searching and found nothing...i am having a problem streaming some files over my home network, i an using xbmc pimped edition (aug 20). when i try and load the files xbmc pauses for a few seconds before doing nothing...if i copy the same file over to the hard drive it works fine.
i have tried many different builds with the same effect
the file types are mainly xvid or mp4...
i am using server 2003.
any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

you could try:
1) reducing the resolution.. maybe you're running at 1080i?
2) reducing/turning off cache while starting to play.

thanks for the prompt reply..
i am running at 1080i, but i tried reducing the cache to 1024 and that fixed the problem files,
is there anything i need to be aware of, problems etc now i reduced the cache?
thanks again
you *may* get some stuttering. it really depends on the quality of your network and server.
i have a couple friends with new builds of xbmc with the same problem. everything plays but some wmv music videos. they seem to only have problems playing when streaming from an smb share (xp.) when copied to the xbox or to dvd, or streamed by ftp they play fine.
